Greetings,
hope can seem to be a 'weakness' for many.
Some prefer to be able to have what they think or believe is 'solid' and 'unmovable' and might consider Hope as something for those who either have little faith or are 'wishful thinkers'.
But we have in Scripture a very sound and steadfast hope presented and it appears that those who believe have such a hope, that nothing can shake.
Perhaps we could look at what Hope is?
What words are rendered Hope?
What reference to Hope is there that would define the blessedness of it?
Who is our Hope?
Do we have great confidence in our standing and position or do we have great confidence in Him Who is our Hope?

The pillars...
and now there doth remain faith, hope, love -- these three; and the greatest of these is love.
1Corinthians 13:13

'For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit,
even we ourselves groan within ourselves,
waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
For we are saved by
hope: (G1680)
but hope that is seen is not
hope: (G1680)
for what a man seeth, why doth he yet
hope for? (G1679)
But if we
hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.' (1679)

Hello
@Br. Bear,
Your suggestion that we should look at what HOPE is, what Greek or Hebrew words are rendered HOPE, looking at where and in what manner (context) they are used in Scripture by the Holy Spirit, and consider in depth just Who is our HOPE. Why our
standing before God in Him is so sure, and Why equally our present state
cannot influence it, is a good one.
Only by knowing what is true and sure concerning our HOPE can we have that unwavering faith necessary to enable us to stand in the days of trial that we will all experience at some time or another during our lives. It is that knowledge that provides confidence isn't it:-
'For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have HOPE.'
(Rom 15:4)
* The following, as you can see, are the Strong's Concordance Numbers which are translated HOPE. It is a start if anyone wishes to make that study, which I hope to do later.
G1680: - 'Elpis' = to anticipate, anticipation or confidence. Translated:- faith or hope.
G1679: - 'Elpizo' = to expect, or confide. Translated:- hope or trust.
