“While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction will come upon them like labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.”

Let Us also by the context of The Concerning Text, paint a Picture. By using The Colors of Discovery of “Sudden Destruction”!

So all you arm chair “ Michael Angelos“, “ Raphael’s” and “Leonardo’s bring “Mona Lisa” with you, bring out you paint Brushes, and Let us, Paint A Picture on The Wall!
Called:
THEN SUDDEN DESTRUCTION “!

We been Painting everything else, Graffiti, everywhere.:no_mouth: You too “Complete” we need you.

A Mosaic on The Wall.

'For when they shall say, Peace and safety;
then sudden destruction cometh upon them
,
as travail upon a woman with child;
and they shall not escape.'
(1Thess. 5:3)

'And as it was in the days of Noe,
.. so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
.... They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage,
...... until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot;
.. they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
.... But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom
...... it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
(Luke 17:26-30)

'And take heed to yourselves,
.. lest at any time your hearts be overcharged
.... with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life,
...... and so that day come upon you unawares.
........ For as a snare shall it come
.......... on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always,
that ye may be accounted worthy to escape
all these things that shall come to pass,
and to stand before the Son of man.'
(Luke 21:34-36)

Hello @PloughBoy,

Thank you for the invitation. :)
These verses do not consider the - SUDDEN DESTRUCTION - itself, but the state of the world prior to it's coming.

Hello @PloughBoy,

Have you entered the video clip about climate change to show that this - DISTRUCTION - of the island nations, and low lying areas of the world by rising sea water, is just one form that this - SUDDEN DESTRUCTION - of the OP could take?

The forces of nature are the weapons of destruction and of judgement that God has used to fight against the enemies of His purpose throughout the Scripture, making the weaponry created by man look like nothing in comparison, eg., Exodus 9:18-26, Psalm 18 & Revelation 8:6-13.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus

Hello again, @PloughBoy,

The 'travail of a woman with child' though sudden, is predictable, but the time they will come is not. When they arrive, suddenly and without warning, there is nothing that can be done to prevent the pain, it is an experience that has to be gone through, but the result is new life.

You said that you wanted the context of 1 Thessalonians 5:3, to set the scene and paint in the detail, and that you wanted to separate the words, 'sudden' and 'destruction' and examine them, before bringing them together again to make a whole, yes? Perhaps you can illustrate what you mean by that, by showing what you mean by example.

The Thessalonians, like the pregnant woman were in no doubt of the coming of the Lord, they knew the times and seasons, all that was unknown to them was the moment in which He would arrive. That required watchfulness on their part.

It will be at a time when 'peace and safety' reigns, people will be relaxed and off-guard.

G160 - 'Sudden' (aiphnidios) meaning - unexpected
G3639 - 'Destruction' (olethros) meanings - to destroy

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

The relationship with child brith and sudden with no escape. Was like Dramatic, right to the point. I guess it had I sense of 1st hand knowledge but more of that which is beyond Imaginable with no where to go or help. “SUDDEN” a full FORCE of Terror at one moment beyond man’s Capacity to Conceive, but right now it is here.

Things in life can grow bad. slowly increasing , growing from bad to worst, from month to month, year to year. A pace we can get use too. By reconstructing our lifestyle maybe adjusting. But then being “Blindsided” by something, more Terrifying, by a host of a “Tsunami’s of Catastrophes” that has created or form another “Destruction” that The Planet has ever “Known” even to man or “Science” could ever conceive. Such a
“DESTRUCTION”.

Just my thought. That has plenty of Room.
For addition, even that which biblical, if found.

WOW, I just saw this after I posted, post #6.

I forgot all about what GOD had said in “Exodus” & Revelation, you are referring too!

And Psalms 18, making it real interesting. But I posted. Post 8. Before I read this Reference you posted.

Things are getting to strange. Unprecedented.

Must we press on?

1 Thessalonians 5
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of theLord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. ...

Notice the words “as a thief in the night”

Matthew 24:43
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

Luke 12:39
And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

1 Thessalonians 5:2
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Revelation 3:3
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Revelation 16:15
Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

I am going to say this in the most kindest way as possible.

The Title Thread is Clear, that a little child of reading age can understand:

“Let us Dissect these 2 words apart 1 by 1 & then add the Definitions together SUDDEN DESTRUCTION”

I would appreciate it, if you would not try to “HighJack” this Thread to suit a Topic of interest of Your choosing.

But you have the right to start a “Thread Title of Your own interest.

Be kind.

PS. Your input, is unacceptable, and rude. Most of us here know how to read and many read our bibles instead of verses in a “Post Stick” it , era.

:pensive:
You are welcome to join in The Topic at large and stay within its tight “ perimeter“ to accomplish our goal. just like any “TEAM” of a Collective “Theological Goal”

You are the one who is being rude.

What I posted was in the context of the verse you quoted from.

2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”

Talk about being rude.

Do I need to ask for this Thread to be close. Be cause of Your “ Diversion” and Distraction from The “ Perimeter” outline from the Title Thread and explained by The opening Post # 1.

Your diversional post # 8 is highly visible in redirecting in a complete different direction. “topic” on purpose to plant “discord”, maybe not intentionally but through “Innocent Ignorance”.:pensive:

We have a bible many 1000’s upon 1000’s of Hours and decades upon decades of reading and studying it we have. The Word is in Many of us “Systematic as well.

What is the concerning Text?

If you are not “Orator” a Lecturer, a Skill “Preparer of you own Sermons. In the past or now, in impromptus, and Know how to “Homiletically Arrange” and prepare a “Text” from. Do not play games with me. But you are most welcome to join our collective party of a Describe “Biblical and Theological Approach and not in a “Religious” type way. But “Christology” and “Pneumatology” is always open, For we can Never Separate “The Triune GOD” :pensive:

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.'

Hello @PloughBoy,

Looking back over my entries in this thread this morning I do not recognise my own words, can't remember entering them, though they bare my name!

Watching the scenes on the news from the Ukraine, and the destruction that came upon tenement buildings, some being raised to the ground, each floor lying flat upon another, and all that existed between them like filling in a sandwich, crushed and broken. Sudden destruction, complete obliteration, nothing left but rubble.

Thankfully there were those who had heeded the warning raised by the sirens and had sought safety below ground in the shelters, so that they were not sandwiched between the layers of concrete which was all that remained of the buildings that they had occupied. Complete destruction above ground, misery in conflict below.

How many had said, 'Peace and safety', when sudden destruction came upon them, and did not seek the relative safety of the shelters, or were two old or infirm to get there by themselves, and had no one to help them get to safety?

God has given warning, let's give heed to it.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus

Very, interesting:
“Sudden Destruction”
Is imminent. Once:

Keep going.

What you posted in a somewhat out of the way, I tune into something early this morning that seem strange, then a highlight of The same Replay, funny how a memory slips away. I have insight, but will not fuel another pump.

Thanks
