Tomorrow, I have to talk with one of the parents who lost their child in Texas recently, I am of course in prayer about this because the questions he asked me on the phone was quite alarming. Question number 1 His wife stated to him that if God is in control, he is doing a very poor job of it!! And she is thinking about leaving her church. Number 2 this from the dad of the 10-year-old boy, If Jesus loves his children, how is it that he allowed my boy and others to be killed by a demon possessed person?? Scripture, as well as comments would be appreciated.

I think it is more important that you listen and let here talk and pour out her heart - let her cry and grieve.
Words of consolation are difficult so close to tragic events when the pain is raw.

I am not sure that you can explain the work of good and evil to her satisfaction.
Personal tragedy is perhaps the greatest challenge to faith in God as our provider and sanctuary.
It all depends on to what extent a Christian is grounded and rooted in the word of God and in the daily quality of spiritual interaction they have with God.
Watching the news on this from afar I understand that this is a "Hispanic" community and more likely to be Roman Catholic as to faith.
I doubt very much that the RC priesthood will provide answers of merit on the anguish as to why did God "allow" this to happen.

But in fairness it is not just mainstream churches that have problems with responding to evil in the world.
Many years ago in our Spirit-filled Pentecostal church here in South Australia an 11 year old girl was killed on the church property when an eucalyptus tree suddenly dropped a large heavy bough
and crushed this girl (and injured other children).
Her parents were inconsolable and could not get over how their God had "allowed" this to happen to their child. Was he not the God that would give life more abundantly? The God that would bless and protect?
Despite counselling from the oversight about personal loss and faithfulness and understanding salvation for the young and old - the parents left the church.
We also have had other personal tragedies in our Pentecostal church from car crashes, drownings, heart attacks and even a helicopter crash.
Everybody must work out the why of their own personal losses and tragedies through the prism of their faith in God and through their love and trust in Christ Jesus as Saviour.

John 16:33 These things have I spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Dear Brother, @brighthouse98
I'll be praying for you that the Words will be provided to you that will allow this family to grieve and one day be free of the pain of the loss of their child. A parent should never outlive their child. Truly what words can we ever give them that would release them of such pain? Only the giving back of their child will do. I agree with Brother Waggles that you need to let them pour out their hearts. Let them cry out to God, for He hears them. Remember you're not here to defend God, but to allow them an avenue whereby they might find the peace that can only be found in Christ Jesus.

God grieves as well for their loss. He feels the pain of His children. So, why did he allow it to happen? Whether we accept it or not, it was sin in this world that allowed this to happen. Man has turned their backs to God and have wanted to do it their own way since Adam & Eve. God has allowed them to go their own way, and what you see happening not only in this Texas School, but everywhere in this World are but the results of that sin. Is this knowledge a consolation to this family? Probably not, but in the quiet of their souls, they will know the truth of it. Our God is not cruel and unfeeling to what we are going through. So, to fix what is broken, God Sacrificed His own Child/Son Jesus on the Cross. He too knows what loss is and feels our pain!

So, there is where we look to, and where our Blessed Hope is, Christ Jesus. Send them to the foot of the Cross, for them to let it all out, till there is nothing left but emptiness, and then let God fill them up anew with a peace and Hope in Jesus that one day all things will come to a completion and those innocents that we've lost we'll one day be reunited with! The Resurrection of our Lord and Savior guarantees that this is true, and we hold on to that Blessed Hope and must never let go!!! Our God does not lie!!!

Here's an article, but I'm sure but one of many out there. I hope that it might give you some ideas on how to bring comfort to a family that has for the moment lost a most precious gift that God gave to them and has been returned to Him in their child.

As I opened with. I'll be praying for you Brother, and for this family as well as others who have experienced an inconsolable loss of a child.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Thanks Brother Nick and Waggles, I agree, just being there for them is important, some do not wish to be lectured, on what they should think, or say. And you can be sure I shall only speak to them, as the Lord leads me!! I just heard a husband of one of the teachers with 4 children was grieving so bad at the loss of his wife, he gave himself a heart attack and died this morning! WOW!! Perhaps as in many cases we do not know why these things happen to people, but in time we hope in Christ Jesus to find out. Blessing all and thanks again!

I heard about that husband as well. Now the children have no mom or dad!
Let's keep them in prayer, and hope that there is other family to help in their care!
For now, they will be especially lost, and need all the loving they can get!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Here is the scripture that came to mind.

Isaiah 57:1
The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.

Praying that these parents find God’s peace during this time of great pain and sorrow.

Nice Steward, Many years ago when I lost a dear friend, as I was in prayer sobbing a gentle breeze entered my closet, and i heard this scripture ( Rev 14:13)For there deeds follow them, and how as I was about to ask, because those good deeds which you were taught are now in you! Therefore death is not the end, it is only a page to one's next chapter of life, YES LIFE!!! THROUGH ME!! This helped me greatly adjust to a new mindset. Thanks Steward for that reminder!

Losing a child, I think, would be the worst thing that could happen to a person. I don't know what I would say. Listen, be with them.
I've come to see that this life holds no guarantees, except that in the end, the Lord is faithful. Life is a dream, from which we will one day wake up.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord. I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

I have often thought of Ecclesiastes 6:1-2 when wondering why God lets bad things happen to good people. Solomon calls it an evil disease. I guess my conclusion is that God sees past this life and death, and knows it doesn't matter. He must have greater reasons for these things happening. Things we as human can barely see.

Then of course there is also Job.

Ecclesiastes 6

The Futility of Life

1There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men: 2A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease. 3If a man beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he. 4For he cometh in with vanity, and departeth in darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness. 5Moreover he hath not seen the sun, nor known any thing: this hath more rest than the other. 6Yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place?

YHWH did not create Adam to die but He knew he would sin. Even so, Saved Men and Women do not ever die like the Lost. Death on the Earth is not actual death and few are they that understand that we are created in the image of our Creator. YHWH is eternal and so is every man and woman He has or ever will be born before He purifies and recreates Heaven on the Earth.

With that background perhaps this will be easier to consume. With Adam's turning to sin, death and corruption entered our Elohim's creation making it impossible for the natural man to live forever. So there is the issue, the Spirit of man is the image of the Creator and is eternal. YHWH cannot abide a sinful person and we are born into sin. We are being tested and a few of us choose purification. I hope this helps.

Confronting Evil in America

27th May 2022 by Newt Gingrich

Newt Gingrich - Confronting Evil in America

"As I listen to the various discussions and speculations about the horrible – but all too common – mass killing at the Uvalde Elementary School, I am haunted by the core analysis that seems to be unacceptable to our elites.

Evil exists. Evil hunts for opportunities to infect humans. Humans infected and overpowered by evil do horrible things.

The more than two-centuries-old drive to replace religion with secularism and faith with popular rationale, has been a stunning failure in the disasters it has created for mere mortals.

Swapping Isaiah for Freud and the Gospels for modern psychology has left a nation of empty souls – and a desperation for meaning." ...

Sorry I did not update yesterday but was very busy right up to about 11:00p.m. YES!!! Everything went very well indeed!! (Thanks to Jesus, and for those who prayed for me over this. I only spoke when they asked me a question, and even then, I thought in my mindset about Jesus's wisdom not my own! And the Lord in me gave me these words to speak to sister Grace, the wife who wished to leave the Church." I asked her what it means to be and stay thankful??(1 Thess 5:18) She said Well I remember when my washing machine broke down how thankful I was when my next-door neighbor gave me hers because she was buying a new one

. Rather I said then think about your son's death, rather think about how much life you shared during the time you had with him, for the Lord himself knows your tears! (Psalms 56:8-13) And read this to her word for word. She teared up a bit and said thanks the Lord surely has given you this. I will stay and deal with my emotions as best as I can. I said and the Lord shall comfort you!! Lots happened, but in the end the Lord did what he said he would always do!!(John 16:22) and now you dear son stands in unity with all the children who lost their lives in Jesus to witness how those who have lost so much react to those left.

Dear sister you have been in the Lord for many years, to help yourself even more, look to bring comfort, love and confidence to those who are in pain around you. The Lord shall heal your deep wounds in time, and you shall be as Jesus said we already are!!!! (Romans 8:26-39!!) Read this as well to her word for word) She was restored in both her and his love for the Lord again. This my brothers and sisters is who we are ( Gal 6:1-10) Thanks again so much for your prayers and confidence in and through our Jesus!!

Hello @brighthouse98,

You have had such commendable responses already, that for me to add anything seems superfluous, but I would like to share something with you.

My sister, who is fourteen years older than myself, and who lived through experiences before my birth, within my family, that she has recalled to me, told me of my Mother's response to a question asked following the loss of three children within swift succession. The question was, 'How could God make you go through this again?' My elder brother and sister, then 14 and 12 yrs, heard her response while on the landing listening to the conversation below them, which was, 'God would not allow me to go through this without giving me the strength to do so'. Her faith was strong, and did not waver. Praise God!

Years later, when my sister lost her 32yr old daughter to breast cancer, memory of that conversation helped her to overcome her own grief, and so it bore fruit to God's glory, though many years intervened. My Father's anger and resentment against God did not leave him unfortunately. Yet I know that he believed the gospel of God concerning His Son the Lord Jesus Christ, and so I believe that the gift of life promised to all such will be granted him in that day.

Always wanting at least four children, my parents went on to give birth to myself and my younger brother, which possibly would not have happened had those three children lived. My sister and I both know the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Lord, and share fellowship with each other as members of the Church which is His Body the fulness of Him that filleth all in all.

Our lives, in Christ, are not for this life only. There is a resurrection life to come, into a world in which there will be no unrighteous acts like that experienced in Texas: no sin, no hatred or violence; only righteousness, love and grace in abundance, in and through Christ Jesus our Lord. Those little ones will have that hope ahead for them too.

Praise His Holy Name!

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

So many have lost Chris so very much, it is during these times of reflection I think to this (2 Cor 4:5-18) Verse 16!!! Even though our feeling looks for us to lose heart, Jesus in us can be, greater then how we feel, if we will allow him to be! One of the very first lessons I learned after becoming a believer was feeling have nothing to do with faith!

Oh, it is nice to have feeling, don't get me wrong, but feeling is not the indication of believing! (James 1:22) is! Our actions are our faith! I feel very sorry for the young people of today, for the world is teaching feeling is the way to live, but as we have seen feeling can lead to bad judgement as well. Not always, but I trust the Lord's Word over how I may feel, and this lesson is the toughest to learn at least for me. Thanks again Chris for sharing, I know very well what being poor is, not just money wise but faith wise, but now I am rich in Christ Jesus forever! And my, and everyone's calling is this! (2 Cor5:16-21!!) Blessing all!

Hello @brighthouse98,

I had to learn that lesson too. Thank you so much for sharing, and for the Scriptures you have referred to. You have already been blessed with every blessing that is spiritual, in Christ Jesus your Lord, but I pray that He will bless the work of your hands, that His Name be glorified both in and through you, for His name and glory's sake.

Within the love of Christ our Saviour,
our Lord and Head.
Chris

While I have nothing of value to add, I have often wondered if we grieve for the deceased, or for ourselves for the inconvenience. Sometimes people get themselves worked up to such a state that the only answer is suicide. Because some one must pay for their emotional pain, they will take whoever they can with them. Typically, it is the entirely innocent and unsuspecting.

The hurt for losing someone will never entirely go away although it will become more bearable over time. Schools should not be like prisons with armed guards at every entrance. Our children should have the freedom to be children within a nurturing environment. It is difficult to appreciate a God who claims to love us while allowing evil events to overtake us. Regardless, God is still on his throne and remains in charge. If we are his children, we go to a better place. As mentioned, sometimes the best thing to do is be a good listener until they are ready to listen.

Understand Shutterbug! But these times are as you know a whole different ballgame then when I was a kid!! There is something we do find out in a terrible loss as many of these parents have had, is our mindset still as sound as it was before,OR,has our loss grown to be our own loss, in both our faith and our communication with one another?

I myself left the faith for a while myself when someone died, I threw my Bible in the trash and went back to the desert for some 2 years, so I understand how many can feel. As I stated prior, I had to learn that my own feeling has nothing to do with my faith. I learned, hence why if some depart from the faith for a time, Jesus understands this to!

Remember the disciples who were with Jesus and saw the miracles left for a while to! (Matt 26:56!!) In fact, it was so bad that Peter went back to fishing!! yikes! (John 21:1-3). I do not know one believer who has not doubted their own faith, hence why those of us who are strong now because of it, can help those who have need to be encouraged!
