They wanted nothing to do with God or what He could provide and this is the only place where they get their way. It was prepared for the devils (God foreknowing they would never repent) and so all the self lords of humanity will join them there, only each will be ever alone for fellowship was His idea (no light, no order to calm the fires of Chaos, etc.,)
