Jesus got into the boat again and went back to the other side of the lake, where a large crowd gathered around him on the shore. Then a leader of the local synagogue, whose name was Jairus, arrived. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet, pleading fervently with him. "My little daughter is dying," he said. "Please come and lay your hands on her; heal her so she can live." Jesus went with him, and all the people followed, crowding around him. Mark 5:21-24 NLT
Most religious or “meeting-place” leaders did not like Jesus. They thought He was trying to make them irrelevant. They had power, and they believed Jesus was trying to take it from them. But when sickness came to the home of one of these leaders, he turned to Jesus.
Jairus was one of the few religious leaders who discovered unshakable faith in the One who came to heal.
You don’t have to exist in the place of spiritual maturity to know that Jesus is the right source for your needs. In desperate times, people who need help turn to Jesus. It’s the best decision you can make.
Prayer: Father, help me talk to You even before I think I need help. I don’t want to make a habit of coming to You only when I have nowhere else to turn. I’d like for my conversations with You to be the best place to share my concerns. Help me be bold enough to share my status updates with You first—and always.
