Faith-Trials (Jas 1:3)

Active
When the believer is passing through a difficulty, regardless the degree, it is never salvation that’s being tested, but faith—which manifests salvation; and the test does not determine pass or fail but is always faith-strengthening. Other than asking to receive, regeneration is never effected by anyone except God. Only He can establish and retain its power within the saint. Faith is also established by Him as a work (fruit - Gal 5:22) of His Spirit, and its strength is ever varying on the increase, unlike salvation, which admits not in degrees (neither does holiness, sanctification, righteousness nor justification).

Once given, faith can only increase (in strength), and the increments are proportionate to one’s maturity in the Lord Jesus, which too is ever growing (Eph 4:15), as the Spirit of the Father “conforms” the saved in the “knowledge” and “walk” of His Son (Ro 8:13, 29; 2Pe 3:18; 1Jo 2:6). Salvation does not derive from conformation, but the inverse; and the level of attainment in the knowledge and walk to which a believer will be brought is determined upon what the Spirit revels concerning the unceasing “work” and “care” of the Father (Phl 2:13; 1Pe 5:7).

Significant spiritual growth begins when we are shown the “irrevocability” of it all (Rom 11:29)!

Greetings Brother,

may i add a little... but first, thank you and thank you Lord

James 1:12 tells of this but perhaps is often seen the 'wrong way around'. What you have shared is very timely.
Moments before reading your thread, i was 'studying' James 1:12 after reflecting on it for the last day or two and, if possible, i shall attempt to share why...

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been proved, he shall receive a crown of life, which God hath promised to them that love Him.

The man is blessed who goes through endurance trial, He is refined like gold, yea, the Lord has approved him and has a crown of life, a wreath of victory, perhaps, as the Lord has promised to them who love Him.
As the clay is chosen by the potter, the ore is chosen, approved by the metallurgist, for the express purpose of refining.
The man has been chosen and approved by the Lord, called and set apart for His 'process', His 'Perfecting', and at that point he is blessed, and that blessing is to receive the crown of Life as the Lord has promised and appointed.
The ore is not refined to see if it is able to pass a test by its own works. No, it is chosen because the One refining knows His choice is suitable for refining.
No lump of clay can fashion itself, and even so, no lump of ore can refine itself.

Give a man a ton of ore and he will thank you because he knows its worth. Will he throw it out because it could not refine itself? Not at all.
Likewise, our Lord will in no way cast us off because He has purchased us and called us to perfect us for His Kingdom and glory.

When the Lord called His band of disciples, He told them they would be hated, killed and persecuted for His names sake but they could rejoice because they were His and their reward was with Him. In the same way, for the Believer today, count it all joy to be selected for refining for Him Who has purchased us. For not only is their refinement for us but glory for the Lord Who is proved wonderful and Whose peace He gives, not as the world gives, to them who love Him and are loved by Him.

We are not tried to see if we are perfect, but because by faith, we are seen as perfect before refinement!, the faith of Christ.

Bless you NC ....><>

Thanks for the instructional comments! It comforts me yo know that when we are "tested" it is always for us to learn by God showing us what we have and are in Him! Remaining in the faith evinces one reborn, which will continually be seen as we mature in our walk, manifesting more all the time all that we already are in His Son!

Luke 7:50; And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
John 3:16; "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

And yet, without Faith, there is no salvation.

2Cor 13:5; Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?
2Cor 13:6; But I trust that you will realize that we ourselves do not fail the test.

Apparently some tests can be failed.

Hi and appreciate your reply! Without faith, there is no testing (exercising unto godliness). Trials (exercises of faith) only involve the saved, as unbelievers are not being tested.

The type of testing the article addresses concerns the trials and difficulties believers endure. The discourse of 2Co 13 addresses the admonition of a believer to confirm they are in the faith (though trials do confirm this).
