Seek What Has Value

One time I lost my car keys. I had gone out of town to visit the North branch of my church and we took my husband's car. We went to church and then out to eat. I didn't notice until the next morning before work that I didn't have my keys. Thankfully, my husband works thirds, so I was able to take his car and have it back by the time he had to go in. We did this all week. We checked his car and everything, but I was absolutely certain I lost my keys at church and would have to wait until someone found them. When someone with a key could look the next Saturday at church though, they weren't there. So what did I do? I took a big garbage bag and I cleaned out that car. There under the passenger side of the seat, I found my key. I felt like a goober (or a gobbler if you are in the Thanksgiving spirit).

It is funny now, but this reminds me of the parable from Luke 15:1-8. The Pharisees were complaining how Jesus welcomed and ate with sinners, and Jesus answered them with a question. "3Then Jesus told them this parable: 4“What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?" His next parable had the same concept. 8Or what woman who has ten silver coins and loses one of them does not light a lamp, sweep her house, and search carefully until she finds it?"

Both a sheep and a coin have value, just like my car keys have value. But how much do we value another human being? Ouch. Do we love people enough? Christians may not grumble like the Pharisees did, but do we leave the 99 church members and go after the lost? Or what about this? That lost coin was a drachma. "Man is precious because he too has the image and superscription of the great King...What seems implied here is the possibility that a soul that is precious in the sight of God may be lost even within the society, Israel or the Church of Christ, which is for the time being the visible house of God." (Elliott's commentary for English Readers).

There are hurting people outside of the church as well as inside of the church. The Father looked on us with eyes of love and mercy, giving His own Son to die for our sins. We need to intentionally search for others in love and mercy also. We need to see the value in telling people about Jesus Christ. We also need to lift up each other and be there for one another in the Body of Christ so we can have every part fully functioning for the Kingdom of God. We do not want to contribute to our church family to get to the point of being in bondage again, because we were not looking. God saw the value in us and we need to see the value in people too. We need to look for the lost and not wait for someone else to do it. Jesus said it, I'll say it again, church: "And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." Mark 16:15.

Mark 16:15. that statement was spoken to the 11 apostles at the time, not necessarily the church. We are to share our testimony however.

If we just had let the eleven disciples share the Gospel, not too many would still come to Christ. I believe this applies to all believers.

Nice touch.
Now may I piggy back. "Once a sheep always a sheep" "Once saved always saved" if one sheep wonders alway and get lost, the shepherd who owns the sheep will leave the 99 who went not astray. To find the one that got lost and could not find its way back home That shepherd will find that sheep, because He is The GODD SHEPHERD.

But we must remember the people of the world are not sheep they are Goats. But we do have sheep that live among them and many think that they are "GOATS" and that is why we must go out and do a "SHEEP" call among the "GOATS" so the other will recognize they belong to our "FOLD".

Thank you for priming my soul :pensive:

That is a good thought... I also think with this parable to the pharisees, the shepherd could mean us too. We both need a shepherd, Jesus, and we need to be a shepherd to someone else in Jesus name. We are His hands and feet.

I'm practicing writing y'all, because I share devoes all the time, and thought maybe I should try. So please do share when I write them, especially if I am off in something. Like with the Great Commission, I was always taught this applied to all believers and this is how I see it. I also believe healings, tongues, and miracles are still for today too. Id like to learn how to defend what I believe in the right way, but I think I need to work on writing out my thoughts first. As a mom who works full time, I just don't have much time. I want to choose my time carefully and not have vain discussions.

Seems to me the bible is clear, hope for everyone. For we were all lost at one time. Praise King Jesus!!

John 10:9
I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.

Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Matthew 7:7-8
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Colossians 4:3
At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison

Exactly, they are sitting in the temple of Baal and seriously believe they have found the truth. These are the lost sheep. The vast majority of the population are covered in the lies and illusion of the world, and no amount of truth will save them sadly.

Jesus Himself has explain the meaning of The difference between The Sheep and The GOAT, The Weeds and The WHEAT. There is do need for "Hermeneutics" here :pensive: Only BELIEVE what HE HAS SAID.

Parable of the Wheat and Weeds Explained (Matthew 13}NLT
Then, leaving the crowds outside, Jesus went into the house. His disciples said, “Please explain to us the story of the weeds in the field.

Jesus replied, “The Son of Man is the farmer who plants the good seed. The field is the world, and the good seed represents the people of the Kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the evil one. The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the harvesters are the angels.

“Just as the weeds are sorted out and burned in the fire,
so it will be at the end of the world. THE SON OF MAN will send his angels, and THEY WILL REMOVE from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!"

Now, even a child can understand that. It cannot get any plainer .
