The Gospel according to John begins telling us that in the beginning was the Word

In the beginning was the Word, so what is the first thing we should do?

Bless you ....><>

I haven't FORGOTTEN anything and get the correct Bible, the word is Jesus.

Don't forget....The Word is God

Actually, you're both right.

John 1:1; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2; He was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3; All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

1Cor 8:6; yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.

Col 1:15; He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
Col 1:16; For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created through Him and for Him.
Col 1:17; He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

Heb 1:2; in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.

Gen 1:1; In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Eph 3:8; To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ,
Eph 3:9; and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things;

Rev 4:11; Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

Actually, you're both right.

John 1:1; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Heb 1:2; in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.

Gen 1:1; In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Eph 3:8; To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ,
Eph 3:9; and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things;

Rev 4:11; Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”
Now, you are getting into the Trinity thing...who is God actually!

.who is God actually!

Heb 1:8; But of the Son He says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, And the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom.
Heb 1:9; "You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness above Your companions.”

Who does the Bible say He is?

John 1:1; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God
John 1:14; And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Col 2:9; For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,

Gen 1:26; Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Gen 1:27; God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Titus 2:13; looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,

John 20:27; Then He said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.”
John 20:28; Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
John 20:29; Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

Matt 1:23; Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.

That was a "Tongue In Cheek" comment.

Of course, the Bible tells ALL, that we are allowed to understand. It is like the" Bible", explains, knowing God is like looking through glass darkly right now but a time will come that we will know Him as well as He knows us; anything else is to be naive and immature!

Until then we will ONLY know in part so,
who is God exactly?

Though the Bible will gives us good clues , we won't know exactly until we die and are glorified in His presence!
