This is so true, when we look closely at a specifc prophesy, on its own, putting aside what we already know, the prophesies appear no more that pieces of a jigsaw, in effect that is what they are.

We are so blessed in these days to have the completed Word of God, the OT and the NT, plus the ability not just to read the scriptures but also compare and cross reference then. With the technogy we have today, to double check scripture as we do, I would suggest that if the Bible was not God's Word, now is the time it would prove the case, but it doesn't, it just goes on proving The Word to be what it says it is.

The eternal Word from an eternal loving God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

A simple example of prophesy given in segments over time is made clear when we see that the Jews didn't know where the coming Messiah would come from.

Would it be, Bethlehem, or could it be, I called my son put of Egypt.

The Jews had all the prophesies they required, but were so affixed with their religions ways.

@PloughBoy totally agree, I have only skimmed over the Codex so only have the basic understanding at this time.

We often criticise translations, but what a task the translators had from the start, and it took serveral centuries as we know to correct many of the original errors in translation. One letter change in the Hebrew and Greek can change the meaning of the whole sentence. The adding of the 'y' or 'i' stated above brings these thoughts back to me.

I will look at Zechariah 3 later, thanks for the posting. I will put it on my to do, to do list, reading other items at present.

@PloughBoy -- pastoring a church does Not make a person an expert in anything. That person Should be continually learning as they share what the Holy Spirit guides them to teach their congregation. My late husband was a pastor for about 5 yrs. He Would have gone on to a Dr. but found that the more highly educated a pastor got -- the more people expected him to Be an expert. One of his instructors ,while he studied for his Bachelor's degree , told the class, when asked a question, that the Bible doesn't have an answer for 'that' and he's not going to 'speak' where Bible Doesn't.

Hebrews 1:1 "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

2 Peter 1:21 "for prophesy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit."

The Bible came From manuscripts -- and there are the Minor and Major Prophets in the Old Testament -- so, yes, it's very much Included in the Bible / God's Word to us.
