How can a Christian speak about The Love of God and know absolutely nothing about it, and replace it with a Worlds defintion

Christmas is NOT the birth of Jesus, as the Bible does not give us the day He was born, nor tells us to celebrate His birthday. Do you really think the Lord would have His actual HOLY day of birth take the back seat to with an imaginary fat man, and reindeer, snowmen, and gingerbread and then celebrated with worldly goods? On someones birthday, you give that person gifts. Not other people. All Christ would want is your holiness. No wordly gifts needed.

In 1743, German Protestant Paul Ernst Jablonski argued Christmas was placed on December 25 to correspond with the Roman solar holiday Dies Natalis Solis Invicti and was therefore a "paganization" that debased the true church.[82] However, it has been also argued that, on the contrary, the Emperor Aurelian, who in 274 instituted the holiday of the Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, did so partly as an attempt to give a pagan significance to a date already important for Christians in Rome.[83]

We dont hear of Jesus celebrating his own birthday, so if the Lord did not do it it is not of the Lord.

My point was that Jesus was a Jew. He celebrated the Jewish religion. Jesus wasn't a Christian so I came to the conclusion that in order to follow Christ, yes, Christians should believe in the Jewish religion to believe what He believed as Christianity is an extension of Judaism, no?
Curious...why do you act like you have a different God than we do? Do you look up or down when you pray? There is only One God. The LORD, God Almighty, Creator of the heavens and earth. He has no equal. He has no opposite. Majestic, omnipresent, omniscient, Truth, light, and Holy Holy Holy. If your God is someone different, then why are you on this forum?

[And God said:]

The Cost of Being a Disciple
25Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

28“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. 31“Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Notice the type of verb, Jesus uses, the word "Cannot" meaning: having not the ability, power, or skill to. do so. Like a man standing at a crest of a Mountain and you telling him to flap his arms and "Fly". He "Cannot" he has not the "ability",power or skills" Birds do.

Why, am I saying all of this, "For The edification of The Saints" and not The World.

Everyone celebrates birthdays -- we don't have to be Told to do that -- no one Tells us to celebrate people's birthdays. Our families usually celebrate those of family members. Most everything is based on how old a person is.

Matthew 1 tells about the birth of Jesus Christ as does Luke -- and it doesn't really matter when His actual birth took place. The important Fact is that He was born. He came into this world to die for our sins and rose again the 3rd day.

I'll conclude for now with a 'no' to your last question.

It's also late where I'm at -- so am done for today.

The world " cannot" be edified in that manner because they would not even recognize it let alone benefit from it. So are you a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, but just refuse to be lumped with the " hypo-Christians"? Is that your angle is the frustration with the lukewarm 'put on your halo and go to church Sunday so you can forget Christ the rest of the week and sin' Christians? To them I say, " I can go sit in my garage every Sunday, but that's not going to make me a car."

If that is way off, I apologize. I would never say I am " not" a Christian, because Jesus is literally on my mind all day. Especially lately. I refer to myself as a "Non- traditional Christian." ( my mother called herself a Holy Roller, but that's just because she was a hippie who danced to the Gospel choir!)regarding the church, I personally find better focus without distraction when I seek God in private on Sundays and just read His word privately, with His quiet instruction rather than some guy who I do not know how qualified he is to preach God's word and do not know His word well enough to know if it is being distorted, taken out of context, cherry picked,..etc. I know that I cannot witness to others if I do not go find other people but I am still trying to witness myself( or be Witnessed by God- I don't know which term is PC) what I am saying is I don't feel qualified and would not end up coming across in a way that would hit home for them like Charles Lawson does. Christianity is an extension of Judaism, no?
I'd put it a little stronger than that: Jesus is the fulfilment or the completion of Judaism.

Without the Old Testament, its not possible to have a complete understanding of Jesus and his mission. Here's the story of the Bible, as short as I can make it.

God created the heavens and the earth and placed humans in the garden to tend his creation, rule over it and to bring it to perfection.

Rather than rule within God's loving authority, the humans chose to take God's place of wisdom and goodness, seizing knowledge of good and bad.

This action corrupted creation, and life became scarred with violence, bitterness and death.

In his grace, God raised up a family to represent his name among the nations, to live and demonstrate his goodness and to be a blessing to all. He chose Abram. The family took the name of his grandson: Israel.

Again and again this family failed to live up to their calling, even though God rescued them from Slavery in Egypt and brought them to a promised land. God gave them the Torah which was to Mark the Israelites out from the nations and to exemplify God's goodness, wisdom and justice. From the begining, Israel failed to keep it.

Rather than be led by God as king, Israel demanded a monarchy like the other nations. The kingdom descended further and further to disobedience, injustice and idolatry until God brought it to an end with the destruction of the kingdom of Israel and the exile of Judah.

A remnant returned from Babylon and rebuilt the temple. But the project to be a light to the nations looked to be a total failure.

All this time, the people were waiting for a true prophet, priest and king - an anointed messiah - to lead them in justice and to conquer their enemies.

Jesus came, healed the sick, gave sight to the blind and announced the arrival of the Kingdom of God, urging a rebellious people railing against Roman occipation to repent. He preaching kindom values of love, cast out evil spirits and proclaimed forgiveness of sins. He achieved everything that Israel was called to do.

They killed him.

But he rose again, winning a victory over the power of death, guaranteeing the promise of resurrection from the dead to all, and validating his claim to be God in person.

Now his followers - from every nation - live in communities based on the principles of Jesus' teaching and in eager expectation of his return, when he will restore the whole of creation to the beauty and glory God originally intended. Evil will be destroyed. We will live in perfect harmony with each other, with creation and with God.

Praise God!

God Gave His life for us -- no one killed Him. There's a difference. He Willingly died for our sins.

@DieAmartyr -- one comment --- the Not going to church --we All need the fellowshipping that going to church gives us. Now -- depending on where a person Lives --what country -- the choices might not be very good. But no one should just blindly be going to a church without any idea of what's being taught. The name of the church would give a Big clue. Your bio info says you're from Phenix , Arizona. You have a computer or you couldn't on Forum. Just Google your area and find out what churches are close to you. I'd suggest a Baptist church because that's what I'm most familiar with . I've grown up in that denomination and they teach Bible.

Take time to visit a church and listen to the sermon. Since you Do read Bible on your own -- you can tell if it's being taught correctly. And before or after church Do ask pastor / his wife questions that you have. And Scripture Does 'encourage' everyone to be involved on a regular basis with a church that teaches God's Word. We need the fellowship. And we Can be learning from each other. Sharing what we learn with others. Getting Their feed-back as well.

I agree with @Sue D. on attending church. It's an essential in the Christian life. The flashy over-presented format of most megachurches turns my stomach, but I bet there's a church on a corner of a street near you with a pastor who's slogging away keeping a small congregation nurtured and healthy. You probably wouldn't find world-class preaching or music there, but you might well find a family to belong to and teaching that will feed your soul.

If you really want to grow in your faith, it has to be done in the context of a fellowship of disciples.

Not quite sure what's behind this objection to what I've written? I have the words of the apostle Peter on my side

...you rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked to have a murderer given to you, and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

I have done all this. The last Baptist church I went to preached about ' Obeying the government". I felt uncomfortable and read my Bible through the sermon. Fellowship with who? No one spoke to me personally, and I just sat there. I guess I do not understand what it is I need from that. The Pastor is not married. He is charismatic enough and he is a nice guy who has emailed me but I am looking for a new church. This time I am going for a Non- denominational, small church. Our large churches are so big....I went to the Hillsong church and the Pastor has black people come up on stage with Hispanics and had them talk about racism against whites and I am white, the congregation was mixed and younger and no one spoke to me and there was police presence there. That made me uncomfortable as well. I don't want to go to church to keep apologizing or shedding white guilt. I want to go there to Worship God. I want to hear the Word of God. No one was reading it! I don't know what's going on but the messages aren't about repenting, and finding Jesus, and refraining from sin. I don't care what is going on in the world. I am trying to stay out of hell. Bottom Line. I need to know where to find the narrow path so I can show others and the last thing I need is to go congregate with a bunch of people on the wide road to destruction because they missed the point, or cared too much about the world.

And I am sorry but Jesus Christ was murdered by the Jews. Do you think the people who chose to kill Him are in Heaven? Do you think the man who nailed the nails through His limbs is in Paradise? How about the soldier who gave Him vinegar to drink and then pierced His side? Are they going to be in Gods presence? Just because we were told what would happen does not make what happened right.

Thessalonians 2:15
...who both killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us. They please not God and are contrary to all men.

That is pretty clear to me. He didn't just " die".

Yes, Jesus completed Judaism but I was talking about the Christianity movement that occurred after His resurrection. Jewish traditions and law extended into early Christianity. That is just a fact.

@DieAmartyr -- with That Baptist church -- well -- I wouldn't go back , either.

The fellowshipping -- some of that is up to us. Through a Sunday School class? If there Is one.

The pastor was not being very professional by emailing you. I'd be out of there, too.

And I guess sthat the fellowshipping is kind of hard to do these days what with COVID around -- the masks and social distancing. There Are churches that do an on-line / virtual service for those who can't / don't feel comfortable worshipping with others. IF you do Face Book -- there's a small church -- Memorial Baptist in Taylor, Tx. does that.

The Jewish believers tried to combine their law-keeping into New Testament salvation. And the Children of Israel Were God's chosen people. Salvation Was 1st for the Jews and Then for the rest of us.

And there Are those who want to include following the Ten Commandments as part Of salvation. But that would be a good=works based salvation and That is not true salvation. Salvation is Not based on good works as per Ephesians 2: 8-9. Not of works, lest any man should boast. For by grace through faith. it is a gift of God.

As far as the people were concerned -- they Were killing Jesus -- but the reality is that Jesus Christ Gave His life -- it was Not taken From Him.

The people's perspective is what Peter was referring to. Legally Jesus was being put to death as a blasphemer. People did not play around with sinning/ law breaking in those days. There was severe punishment in those days.

Salvation is Not based on good works as per Ephesians 2: 8-9. Not of works, lest any man should boast. For by grace through faith. it is a gift of God.

There are people who confuse several concepts. Obeying the 10 commandments without Jesus doesn't help you. Not obeying the commandments, even if you claim to know Jesus is proof you aren't a Christian.
Good works can't save you. Eph 2:8-9;
Obeying the 10 commandments are not a work. - They are your "reasonable act of service". ( Rom 12:1; )
Luke 17:9; "He does not thank the slave because he did the things which were commanded, does he?

The law, is actually in 2 parts. The ceremonial law, and the ceremonial law. Confessing to priests, sacrificing animals, being circumcised, those were ceremonial things. They never could save you.
Keeping the commandments is a requirement. Even Paul tells the Gentiles..

1Cor 7:19; Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God.

If you don't keep the commandments and you say you know Jeus, you're a liar, plain and simple.

1Jn 2:4; The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;

We are told to keep the commandments over a dozen times in the New Testament.

But even for those who don't understand Eph 2:8-9; ( they leave out verse 10 for some reason) this is just 1 verse. There is over 50 verses in the New Testament that say things like
Don't commit adultery, don't kill, don't steal, don't murder. It says these people will not enter the kingdom of God. So in their case it's this 1 verse vs 50 others. They don't believe the entire Bible, just this verse.
The rest doesn't apply to them.

There is a lot more to say on this. Before you know Jesus, good works can't save you. After you know Jesus, good works are required.
Keeping the commandments, are not a "good work". A good work would be feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, helping old ladies across the street.

Whoever tells you the commandments don't matter, you need to stay away from them. You should know them by their fruit.
Jesus Himself told us to keep the commandments 6 times. He said His sheep know His voice. People who don't know what He said, aren't His sheep.

Dear Sister,
In reading the above statement by you I had to reply. May I suggest you take a little more time to be thoughtful in your response?
I say this because the answer to the questions you posed is that we don't know. It is quite possible that they came to the Lord afterwards. For there were many who did, and Saul/Paul who we look to in so much that was written in the NT considered himself the Chief sinner. My Hope is that individually each and everyone that had anything to do with the death of our Lord & Savior received Him as such in their lives.

Pose yourself a question, which many I believe who are thoughtful do. If you were there and could have. Would you have tried to stop the Crucifixion of our Lord & Savior?

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

After Plough Boys much ruder response to me, you made excuses for him and said, " Oh thats just how he is" and told me to be patient with him. Anyone who thinks Jesus was not killed needs to read their Bible again. Why is it that Plough Boy can come on here and degrade people and tell them " they are Bible illiterate" like a bunch of idiots and tell them they don't know God and should go back to their Sunday tv program.....you don't think that's rude or say anything to him about being thoughtful in his response. Sure. I will be more thoughtful. Thank you for your addressing my passion on the matter. I will tone it down. Way down.

Dear Sister,
Having a bad day? Hopefully not.

I also hope you understand my response to you had nothing to do with Brother PloughBoy, but with your post, and the questions you posed. So, please don't be using another Member's postings/responses as an excuse for how you respond or fail to respond when a post of yours is critiqued. My response to you had nothing to do with whether you were rude or not. It had to do with the questions you presented and how maybe you should have given it more thought before putting them out there. I've done this to other members as well. You are not an exception to this.

Now, if you are unable to respond to my observation. Then fine, don't, but don't start opening up on what seems to be a sore issue with you, which is Brother PloughBoy which is unrelated to my reply to your post. You have difficulties with him, then attempt to open a Private Conversation (PM) and try to resolve it. You can always add one of the Staff Members to it, if you'd like. That is my suggestion to you as a Moderator.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

The Purpose of Jesus' Parables
10Then the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Why do You speak to the people in parables?” 11 He replied, “The knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you,but not to them. 12Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

The video, yes i watch it, nothing new, i have been studying and listening to 'Lectures, sermons, views, biblical historians, and "biblical archaeologists" for over 40 years, and so far the only one that stands out more than the "biblical" find and explanation of the "dinosaur" is what "christ4ever" have posted for our edification concerning "THE Marital Ceremony of The Galileans" and the culture" which have shone more "light" upon the "historical text" and that which is to come and reason. Manying vidoes are intrigue with plagiarism and many not knowing it is so, from stick and post and arguments that have been settle by counsels , hundreds and a "Thousand" years ago. Shalom.

And concerning what kind of "Christian" you are, is your call, "westernization" has confirm a person identity call and preference, is determine by that person.
