Christmas is NOT the birth of Jesus, as the Bible does not give us the day He was born, nor tells us to celebrate His birthday. Do you really think the Lord would have His actual HOLY day of birth take the back seat to with an imaginary fat man, and reindeer, snowmen, and gingerbread and then celebrated with worldly goods? On someones birthday, you give that person gifts. Not other people. All Christ would want is your holiness. No wordly gifts needed.
In 1743, German Protestant Paul Ernst Jablonski argued Christmas was placed on December 25 to correspond with the Roman solar holiday Dies Natalis Solis Invicti and was therefore a "paganization" that debased the true church.[82] However, it has been also argued that, on the contrary, the Emperor Aurelian, who in 274 instituted the holiday of the Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, did so partly as an attempt to give a pagan significance to a date already important for Christians in Rome.[83]
We dont hear of Jesus celebrating his own birthday, so if the Lord did not do it it is not of the Lord.
My point was that Jesus was a Jew. He celebrated the Jewish religion. Jesus wasn't a Christian so I came to the conclusion that in order to follow Christ, yes, Christians should believe in the Jewish religion to believe what He believed as Christianity is an extension of Judaism, no?
Curious...why do you act like you have a different God than we do? Do you look up or down when you pray? There is only One God. The LORD, God Almighty, Creator of the heavens and earth. He has no equal. He has no opposite. Majestic, omnipresent, omniscient, Truth, light, and Holy Holy Holy. If your God is someone different, then why are you on this forum?
[And God said:]
"Thou shalt have no other gods before Me" is one of the Ten Commandments found in the Hebrew Bible at Exodus 20:2 and Deuteronomy 5:6. It is the central tenet of the Abrahamic religions and prohibits the religion's followers from worshipping gods other than the Lord."
Deut. 11. [16] "Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; [28] And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known."
2 Kings 17:35
For the LORD had made a covenant with the Israelites and commanded them, "Do not worship other gods or bow down to them; do not serve them or sacrifice to them.
Jeremiah 35:15
Again and again I have sent you all My servants the prophets, proclaiming: 'Turn now, each of you, from your wicked ways, and correct your actions. Do not go after other gods to serve them. Live in the land that I have given to you and your fathers.' But you have not inclined your ear or listened to Me.
(Genesis 28)
20Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, 21so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, THEN the LORD shall be my God,
John 5:43 Jesus said:
"I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
Thinking, maybe, like many has told me through out the years, that they where not that deep. And that they were shallow and did not want to Know GOD that deep. And that A Salvation knowledge of God was good enough. And that they would love to have what i have, but did not want to pay the price. "The Cost of Discipleship". Many have told me this through out the years. "The Character of "GOD ALMIGHTY". comes with a high price. So let Him "1st Count The Costs"
The Cost of Being a Disciple
25Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.
28“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’
31“Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. 33In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.
Notice the type of verb, Jesus uses, the word "Cannot" meaning: having not the ability, power, or skill to. do so. Like a man standing at a crest of a Mountain and you telling him to flap his arms and "Fly". He "Cannot" he has not the "ability",power or skills" Birds do.
Why, am I saying all of this, "For The edification of The Saints" and not The World.
