Does God want peace on this earth?

I hope this isn't a stupid question. I know God order the Israelite to commit genocide kill all the amelkite even the babies. Why couldn't they just adopted the children and women they are the most vulnerable. Everyone who doesn't worship him is put to death he kind of sound like a dictator and his followers ask no question just go with no flow. When I see something in the Bible that doesn't sit right with me I'm going speak up. I feel Christians are to scared to look outside the box they are in, they will even get a attitude with you or just ignore you. I'm still on a Journey, I haven't read the entire Bible yet but hope one day everything will make sense.

Hello Godsangel,

First off, I commend you for asking questions. How can we learn without asking them? Let me learn along with you in this endeavor of why the Amalekites were killed outright by the order of God.
  • Amalekites are from the tribe of Esau (Amek was the grandson) (Gen. 36:12, 16)
  • Amalekites fought Israel when they left Egypt (Exod. 17:8-16)
  • “Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you came out of Egypt, how he attacked you on the way when you were faint and weary, and cut off your tail, those who were lagging behind you, and he did not fear God. Therefore when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies around you, in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven; you shall not forget.” (Deut. 25:17-19)
In Exodus 17: 16…it is stated that “the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”

This is what I’ve found so far about reading the word and that is we are not to look at it with our natural eyes but with spiritual eyes. .... when we ask the Lord why did You want to kill the Amalekites? From what I read that “spiritually speaking the Amalekites aligned themselves with the wicked Pharaoh of Egypt and they sought to continue the war against God’s people.” “Amalek symbolizes the collective “children of darkness” in the world, the perpetual enemies to the Kingdom of God”. “They represent spiritual blindness as it acts in the world.” “Wiping out Amalek, then is a call to spiritual warfare and the weapon of our warfare is the truth of the salvation of God lived out on our lives" (2 Cor. 10:4)

These are the links where I read and got my information from…

Amalek and Spiritual Warfare (Shabbat Zachor)

Ki Teitzei - Fighting Spiritual Blindness...

I won’t make this too long and give you the chance to search out some of your answers. In Proverbs 25:2 TPT, it reads… God conceals the revelation of His word in the hiding place of His glory. But the honor of kings is revealed by how they thoroughly search out the deeper meaning of all that God says.

When we read the word we got to be careful not to harden our hearts against it and try not to interpret it without the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
May God bless you as you journey Him and may your eyes of your heart be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling for you.

Blessings,
Snowrose

Of course God wants peace, but not at the expense of making us robots, people without wills, and as long as choice remains there are many who will chose chaos, because it makes them feel powerful, and they like that feeling.

Hello @Godsangel,

@Snowrose has given you a good explanation of why God acted as He did towards the Amalekites. She has chosen to interpret God's actions 'spiritually'. Though I can see how this historic happening can be viewed in that way in order to make application of it in regard to our own Christian walk and witness, I believe that it should be looked at as a truthful account of God's judgment against that nation. It was to be destroyed. That has to be accepted. The Amalekites had sought to thwart the purposes of God in regard to Israel and the land. Israel was the means by which God's promise regarding 'the seed of the woman'(Christ) was to be fulfilled, and nothing and no-one was to stand in the way of that, for it was the means by which God would reconcile the world unto Himself.

Thank you

Godsangel, your doubts about God come from the devil, it is he who makes you question God's character and judgment. I am not saying this as condemnation or anything, just letting you know what the source of your doubts are from.

Your primary concern seems to be with God's judgment of the children and women of Amalekites - that is something understandable. I do not claim to know everything, but I do know God's judgment is always right. The Amalekites were a corrupt people as a whole, seeing how they first persecuted the people of God. Their women were not free from the corruption and when God has determined that an entire group of people needs to be punished with death, it is because these people are beyond redemption - ie. they will not repent of their crimes/sins no matter how forgiving God is towards them. The Amalekites will never stop their animosity against God's people and leaving them alive will mean that God's people will live in constant danger. Their women most likely supported their animosity against God's people, so why would God spare them?

As for their children, those who were just born would go to heaven upon physical death since they had no knowledge of sin. Even if their children were allowed to live, what do you think these children would do if they grew up and knew that their ancestors were murdered by the people who adopted them? They might also turn against their adopters out of revenge and God's people will never live in peace even if they spare the children's lives. So why not bring about early physical death so the children go to heaven and God's people won't face retaliation?

Does God want peace? Of course, ultimately yes.

Does He expect 100% peace right now? I don't think so. Truth is more important than peace to God.
Peace with God is more important than peace with the Earth.

We could all become Muslims, and that would give us peace with them, but not peace with God.
We could all become liberal socialists, and that would give us peace with them, but not peace with God.
We could all become Atheists, and that would give us peace with them, but not peace with God.
Where do we draw the line on peace? We could quit having and voicing our opinions, no more
differences, no more standing up for what you believe in... that would bring peace to those who want
to control you.

Why did God destroy some people in the Bible, multiple reasons.. but more often than not so His
chosen people (the Jews) would not be corrupted by foreign Gods.

Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

Yes, but even there, choice will still flourish, and thats why Christ will Rule with a rod of iron (rev 2), corruption of justice as you say, shall not exist with Him, perhaps some minor officials, but He wont even let them last long. Ours is a patient Lord, and forgiving, but only so far.

@Brad Huber -- You have Rev.2 in paranthesis -- that chapter is talking about the churches of Ephesus / Smyrna / Pergamos / Thyratra // your passage is vs. 27 a. That passage is talking about those 7 churches of Asia and we can compare our churches Now with Them. And there's a footnote directing the attention back to Psalm 2: 8 & 9. Don't know where you were going with that.

The opening question is -- does God want peace on this earth. What He Does want is that all would come to a saving knowledge of Himself. Which is possible only through His Son, Jesus Christ.

I was thinking of the passage about the lion laying down with the lamb. That natural enemies in nature will be at peace with each other. That suggests peace in the land.

Rev 2 : 27
27 and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are shattered, as I also have received authority from My Father

Isaiah 11 : 6
And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fattened steer will be together; And a little boy will lead them.

The animals will be peaceful, and humans for the most part, lol.

Awful.

It is never justifiable to accept the murder of children. Ever.

Hello @Dave M,

Yet to His disciiples the Lord could say, 'Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.' (Joh 14:27) . Yes, His ministry would bring division, and persecution in it's wake, but His peace would be with them.

Even during the 1,000 years, it is His People who will be at peace, but not the world at large, for He will rule with a rod of iron.

Thank you

Dear Godsangel,
Good question and one that is asked by not only you, but many who read Scripture. That is why so many see God as being cold hearted, with no compassion, who don't understand why He does/allows things to thrive that we see as being wrong. We look to any child dying regardless of the reason as being before their time. The problem with all this is that not all the Amelkites were killed, and so you follow what the Amelkites did to the Nation of Israeli because they were not all killed.

First one must understand that God does not think like we do. Scripture:

Isa 55:9 NKJV - "For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Rom 11:33 NKJV - Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable [are] His judgments and His ways past finding out!
Rom 11:34 NKJV - "For who has known the mind of the LORD? Or who has become His counselor?"
Rom 11:35 NKJV - "Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?"
Rom 11:36 NKJV - For of Him and through Him and to Him [are] all things, to whom [be] glory forever. Amen.

Second He knows what is going to happen, and in this, He wants us to be able to see what happens when one doesn't follow His guidance/directions. Nothing good comes of it, if we don't obey. The road becomes that much harder. Don't think that we know better, because we don't.

1Jo 3:20 NKJV - For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.

Psa 147:5 NKJV - Great [is] our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding [is] infinite.

Third, if you perceive this as genocide, what do you think happened during the Flood? He only allowed one family to survive, and yet, if we're honest with ourselves somehow this feels different than that doesn't it? How we readily justify what "we" believe to be the right of things! When its incomprehensible that He gave life to dirt, and we're judging Him???

Col 1:16 NKJV - For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Psa 115:3 NKJV - But our God [is] in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.

We have a tendency to forget that our God is a Holy God, and its by His Mercy & Grace that He allows any to live. Yet, because of what you don't understand that He does/allows, you then judge Him? The Creation judging the Creator! Amazing really, when you think about it. It's our own way of doing things that has gotten us separated from Him in the first place, and keeps us away from Him. You look at Nations that would actually sacrifice their children to gods, and you look to the One true God, and have the audacity to look at History from a perspective of a Nation that has Abortions by the millions, and critique Him when you don't even know His reasoning? When He sent His only begotten Son to die on the Cross for the Sinning World, and you think He lacks Mercy?

Gut check time, and getting back to the foot of the cross time. Pray for that wisdom and understanding, but most especially love, a sacrificial love that until that day on the Cross was not understood, and barely comprehended these 2000 years later.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

'And spared not the old world,
but saved Noah the eighth person,
a preacher of righteousness,
bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;'
(2 Peter 2:5)

Hello @Christ4Ever,

Reading 2 Peter 2:5, we see Noah to have been a preacher of righteousness. He would have preached and warned the people of the danger of judgement. So they were not without warning. Again it was imperative to preserve Noah, so that the promise of Genesis 3:15 concerning 'the seed of the woman' should come to fulfillment, that God may reconcile the world unto Himself. The Amalekites sought to thwart that purpose. This is what Satan constantly opposed, so that at one point it came down to one child (Joash - 2 Chronicles 2:11) remaining to carry on the line of the promised seed (which is Christ). So all of the measures that God took, regardless of their severity is not for us to condemn.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris
