Is their a distinction between the Spirit of Christ and the Holy Spirit? I've read that the Spirit of Christ is His own Spirit like we have a spirit, but also have read it is the Holy Spirit would appreciate all your ideas/comments. Thank you

I would think, Tanya, that as the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit are one, Then the Spirit in the Son would be the Holy Spirit, but I have not had a leading from the Spirit on this. I have a spirit of my own and I also am indwelt by the Holy Spirit, But then, I am not the Son of the living God, who is God. John 1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. If the Word was God and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, then it stands to reason that The Holy Spirit has to be the Spirit of Jesus Christ, who is God.

His holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.

Indeed, without the indwelling Spirit of God we would neither have nor receive understanding, wisdom, or knowledge at all.

There are three distinct persons within the Godhead yet they are "one" God. Jesus is not the Holy Spirit, neither is the Father Jesus or the Holy Spirit. God has a "body" in which he dwells and His body is Jesus Christ. All three persons of the Godhead lives in their absolute fullness in Christ.

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Speaking of Jesus Christ....

Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

What makes God "one" is his Glory which is his body.

The best thing about Col 2:9 is the very next verse.......

Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Col 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Thank you, Curtis! I've often read these verses and wondered if that is truly what it meant, because it's amazingly understandable, meaning the Godhead one being of God in three persons and the Lord is the totality of the Godhead. I've prayed about this and I'm taking this as a confirmation. Blessings and thank you.

What about 2 Corth. 3:17 where it says "Jesus is that spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." So is this verse talking about the Holy Spirit or the ominpresence of Jesus? Does God have a spirit like we as humans have a spirit, meaning what makes Him, Him. I've heard it is the Holy Spirit, but the Holy Spirit is a separate personality than the Father, yet they are one in "spirit." Thanks.

Understanding God's divine nature is beyond human intellectual knowledge. but we can understand it fully with the rebirthed human spirit. We have the "mind of Christ" (1 Cor 2:16) which does not need renewing. The mind of Christ lives in our hearts as Gal 2:20 reveals to us that we (our old self) died on the cross with Christ, and it is no longer "I" who lives (our old self), but Christ lives in me!

Eph 3:19 yes, to come at last to know the love of Christ, although it far surpasses human understanding, so that you may be filled with the perfect fullness of God. (Williams)

Whenever God is moving it is in harmony and in conjunction with all three persons of the Godhead. When God speaks it will always be in the same order as God the Father speaks, the Word of God (Jesus Christ) who only speaks what the Father says,(John 12:49) and the Holy Spirit does not speak on his own but only what he hears. (John 16:13)

It just means the same Spirit that was in Christ. Whoever does not have this Spirit is none of His (they are not actually God's children). You shall know them by them by their fruits. Is one actually a child of God because they said some magic words or took a bath? No! The test is do they love God and Love their neighbor as thy themselves would want to be loved? I do not speak here of emotions of love but the actions of love (love the verb not the noun). Are they moved to be compassionate and feed the poor...house the homeless...heal the sick....clothe the naked...as Jesus did? Do you have the same Spirit He had? Are you becoming more and more like Him? Matthew 25:31 on....is a good place to start....remember...the five unwise virgins were part of the church doing all the churchianity stuff...probably confessed Christ and were dunked...but Christ said "I NEVER knew you!" NEVER....so many people say they are a Christian but examine the fruit....

people say that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are separate entities, but
When our conscience disagrees with the desires of our flesh, does that mean our flesh and spirit do not belong to us?

Two things....

a) there is only ONE YHVH not three,..the one and ONLY God (YHVH) IS the Father, the Word/Son, and the Holy Spirit (God is not a corporation but has revealed Himself in three persona) in the language of Nicea, He is one Ousia in three hypostases
b) we may wrestle with the flesh when the Spirit is upon us, and no, in that case it is NOT our Spirit but His

Only there is a case where our own Conscience (sometimes because we have been guilted by human reasoning) causes us to be concerned for particular tendencies or behaviors. When this happens we may or may not strive to conform and usually will not succeed...Hence we feel we SHOULD do or nor do something the flesh desires. Yielding to the Spirit of God is when we do what we know we should and do not do what we know we should not. When we do what we know we should not do it is sin unto us (and vice versa...to not do what we know we should).

What part of us is our conscience, if not our spirit, Paul?

One in the same! When you first believe and are indwellt with Holy Spirit you are indwelt with Sipit of God or the Siprit of Jesus. This indwelling is the only way to Heaven once you enter the spirit world!

Conscience has two aspects and yes it is an element of the human spirit but it is also culturally shaped. Each culture has its concepts of right and wrong, holy and profane, acceptable and taboo. Each person is therefore influenced by their culture through teaching and modelling. People have a conscience even if it is as if seared with a hot iron or has grown callous. Even a person who is spiritually dead (separated from God because of their sin) knows the difference between right and wrong and sometimes does right. Likewise even a person born of God with His Spirit in them occasionally does what they know is wrong. The good person occasionally does bad and feels bad while the bad person does not....it is their lifestyle to sin (I remember well). Any one who says they have no sin in their lives (even those God has declared righteous) is a liar and the truth is not in them.

The reason that many Christians do not believe that the Father, the Spirit, Holy of God and The Lord Jesus are three different SPIRIT PERSONS of God

the reason is because ---- the scriptures clearly tell us that the spirit of God in the Lord Jesus is not multiple, plural spirits - or 3 different spirit persons.

BUT RATHER - as 1Co 12:6 - 7 says And there are DIVERSITIES OF OPERATIONS, but it is the same God, same PERSON - same Spirit - which worketh all in all.

:7 But the MANIFESTATION OF THE SPIRIT is given to every man to profit withal.

the scriptures are not leading the reader to understand that the same God is multiple persons - but that the operation of God is defined as " MANIFESTATION OF THE SPIRIT "

:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge BY THE SAME SPIRIT;
:9 To another faith by the SAME SPIRIT; to another the gifts of healing by the SAME Spirit;
:11 But all these worketh that one and the SELFSAME SPIRIT, dividing to every man severally as he will.
:13 For by ONE SPIRIT are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into ONE SPIRIT.

Eph 2:18 For by him we have access both in ONE Spirit to the Father. - singular spirit

Joh 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
Joh 14:18 I - Jesus, - I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Mat 10:20 For it is not you that speak, but THE SPIRIT OF YOUR FATHER that speaketh in you.
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Spirit of the Holy , { Holy Spirit } whom the Father will send in my name, -
Rom 8:15 but you have received the spirit of adoption of sons, whereby we cry: Abba (Father).
Ga 4:6 And because you are sons, God hath sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying: Abba, Father.
Eph 2:18 For by him we have access both in ONE Spirit to the Father. -

this is not a different " spirit person " Joh 14:26 is saying clearly that - the Comforter, is the Spirit of the Holy , { Holy Spirit } whom the Father will send in my name, -

Ga 4:6 ------ - And because you are sons, God hath sent the Spirit of his Son -- the Spirit of the Son - this is the Spirit of the Holy , { Holy Spirit } whom the Father will send

The scriptures describe a God who is ONE SPIRIT - SINGULAR ------------ " one spirit person " it is the spirit of the Father - and the Son - they both are one SELF SAME SPIRIT,

God is a Spirit and this Spirit is the " selfsame " Spirit that whom is the Comforter, the Spirit of the Holy , { Holy Spirit } whom the Father will send

the Father will send " The Spirit of his Son "

:13 For by ONE SPIRIT are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into ONE SPIRIT.
