video 10 Reasons Racism is Offensive to God

1. We are all made in the image of God (Gen. 1:27). Most Christians know this and believe it, but the implications are more staggering than we might realize. The sign pictured above is not just mean, it is dehumanizing. It tried to rob Irish and Blacks of their exalted status as divine image bearers. It tried to make them no different than animals. But of course, as a white man I am no more like God in my being, no more capable of worship, no more made with a divine purpose, no more possessing of worth and deserving of dignity than any other human of any other gender, color, or ethnicity. We are more alike than we are different.

2. We are all sinners corrupted by the fall (Rom. 3:10-20; 5:12-21). Everyone made in the image of God has also had that image tainted and marred by original sin. Our anthropology is as identical as our ontology. Same image, same problem. We are more alike than we are different.

3. We are all, if believers in Jesus, one in Christ (Gal. 3:28). We see from the rest of the New Testament that justification by faith does not eradicate our gender, our vocation, or our ethnicity, but it does relativize all these things. Our first and most important identity is not male or female, American or Russian, black or white, Spanish speaker or French speaker, rich or poor, influential or obscure, but Christian. We are more alike than we are different.

4. Separating peoples was a curse from Babel (Gen. 11:7-9); bringing peoples together was a gift from Pentecost (Acts 2:5-11). The reality of Pentecost may not be possible in every community–after all, Jerusalem had all those people there because of the holy day–but if our inclination is to move in the direction of the punishment of Genesis 11 instead of the blessing of Acts 2 something is wrong.

5. Partiality is a sin (James 2:1). When we treat people unfairly, when we assume the worst about persons and peoples, when we favor one group over another, we do not reflect the God of justice nor do we honor the Christ who came to save all men.

6. Real love loves as we hope to be loved (Matt. 22:39-40). No one can honestly say that racism treats our neighbor as we would like to be treated.

7. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer (1 John 3:15). Sadly, we can hate without realizing we hate. Hatred does not always manifest itself as implacable rage, and it does not always–or, because of God’s restraining mercy, often–translate into physical murder. But hatred is murder of the heart, because hatred looks at someone else or some other group and thinks, “I wish you weren’t around. You are what’s wrong with this world, and the world would be better without people like you.” That’s hate, which sounds an awful lot like murder.

8. Love rejoices in what is true and looks for what is best (1 Cor. 13:4-7). You can’t believe all things and hope all things when you assume the worst about people and live your life fueled by prejudice, misguided convictions, and plain old animosity.

9. Christ came to tear down walls between peoples not build them up (Eph. 2:14). This is not a saccharine promise about everyone setting doctrine aside and getting along for Jesus’s sake. Ephesians 2 and 3 are about something much deeper, much more glorious, and much more cruciform. If we who have been made in the same image, born into the world with the same problem, find the same redemption through the same faith in the same Lord, how can we not draw near to each other as members of the same family?

10. Heaven has no room for racism (Rev. 5:9-10; 7:9-12; 22:1-5). Woe to us if our vision of the good life here on earth will be completely undone by the reality of new heavens and new earth yet to come. Antagonism toward people of another color, language, or ethnic background is antagonism toward God himself and his design for eternity. Christians ought to reject racism, and do what they can to expose it and bring the gospel to bear upon it, not because we love pats on the back for our moral outrage or are desperate for restored moral authority, but because we love God and submit ourselves to the authority of his word.

Thanks Chad.

For me, the first reason -- that we are all bearers of God's image -- is all sufficient and closes the argument. Absolutely horrified to see the news coming from America

Two things I want to say.

First, is that we probably all have a bit of racism lurking somewhere in our attitudes and opinion. I am totally anti-racist, yet I find that I still have to deal with prejudices and racial stereotyping in my own heart and mind. Deep repentance required.

Second, it's not enough to be just non-racist, as followers of Jesus we should be active and persistent in healing divisions, building peace, and fostering understanding.

From the outset, the church was made up of Jews and non-Jews, slaves and free eating together. How on earth is it that we now have 'black' churches and 'white' churches and seem to think that's acceptable?

Because we are still sinners. Christians lies, christians commit adultery, christians are committing abortions, christians are committing fornication, christians are stealing, christians are deceiving people, christians are into same sex partners, christians are getting divorces, They do these with justification and supported by the church. Some Christians are racist and know it and some are racist and don't know it.
and the answers has always been the same through the media,, "we need programs, we need counseling, we have to set up committees, we need to be educated.

What i will say, what no one is saying! Christians need to read their own Bibles at home from front to back, until they know the whole BOOK!

Instead of spending millions of dollars on committees and programs. It is only a trick where we pay people to be on committees and head of programs making them rich! And the most "segregated day of the week" is Sunday "! The day of "The Sun God"! That is why, it is called "SUN-DAY"! and christians feels no guilt about it.

ON Sunday here in America, There are Christian black churches, white Christians churches, Japanese-American Christian Churches, Chaldeans Christian Churches, Jewish Christian churches, Korean christian churches, Greek Christian Churches, and on and on, it goes, not saying that some are not mix.

The "sin" is that a lot of people think they are better than someone else. And most of the time, earnings makes a person thinks that they are better than some one else, and most christians are at the top of the list in thinking in such matters.

The beast of racism is "economics'! "For money is the root of all kinds of evil"!

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

New Living Translation
For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

English Standard Version
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Berean Study Bible
For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. By craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

I know, it is hard for christians to understand that, In great proportions!
If the Gospel of Jesus Christ is being proclaim right, Christians would know this! "labor not [Hard] for the food that perishes but for the food...etc.

Webster's Bible Translation
Labor not for the food which perisheth, but for that food which endureth to everlasting life, which the Son of man will give to you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

PS Is it racism or is it "hate"? and does one really knows what hate really it is? How does God defines hate in "Holy Scripture"? Racism := Hate.

Don't think I agree with this. That police officer seemed to be motivated by something other than money to kill a man by kneeling on his neck. I'm not sure what.

And with the best will in the world, knowing your Bible front and back is not going to bring an end to racism. Christians actually have to do something: Repent, then work together to build better communities, harmony, trust across racial divides.

On the matter of black churches and white churches, I don’t think they set out to be that way. They have become that way because of many reasons: lack of diversity in the leadership. Where the senior pastor has been supported by his friends who happened to be of the same race as him and are joint leaders in the church, attracting more people of the same race to the church etc.

In my experience these churches are actually desperate to attract a more diverse congregation butjust don’t know how.

Culture /traditions plays a big part - the culture in black churches vice versa is not attractive to white people so though a quick visit is ‘different’ and ‘interesting’ they don’t make it their home church.

Style of worship/message delivery tends to be different between white and black churches hence more segregation according to what appeals.

Dear All,
I personally do not agree that there is a racism. No one is sending away black kids from the schools, black people from the bus or from the plane! Once we can see how black people damage shops, police station or church we all understand that the problem is somewhere else. Those black people are enjoying very happy life and do not care that somebody else must pay a bill! Nothing will happen to them once they will damage something. Yes! They have nothing what to lost. In the prison they will get a proper food, dress, entertainment.... Why they have to change their attitude if nothing serious will happen to them? Somebody else will get up every morning who will prepare a food, who will work on the farm, who will drive, simply who will work hard. If there is any small reason to fight they will start to fight and they start to damage everything. Sure there are nice black people too however and unfortunately we can see mainly black people to damage everything what is around them and we are scary. God's commands are valid for black people too!

@Bety, If not racism, what is it that causes a police officer to kill an unarmed black man by kneeling on his neck?

Even on a Christian forum and on a thread telling you that racism offends God you can’t escape the racist bigots! Still blaming the victims for their own oppression. Yes George Floyd, Breanna Taylor, Eric Garner are all enjoying ‘a happy life’, after all they weren’t barred from going to school, or getting on a plane or a bus and “If there is any small reason to fight they will start to fight”, a small reason like the killing of innocent people?
If you truly are a Christian you should be horribly ashamed, you sound like a monster.

Dear Hekuran, sin is always sin. How many black people kill white people? Do you think is it zero??? Do not talk about black or white person, please talk about sin!!! Please note it is sin to damage property of somebody else! Do not defend them only because they have rights to damage it? There is NO RIGHT to accept the sin! It has to be clear for you as for a christian! As an christian you must love your enemies or not? To hate everyone who is saying something different is a standard for a christian? Am I wrong?

You've responded to my simple question by asking six of your own. If racism was not a factor in the killing of George Floyd, what else can explain it?

Dear Hekuran, how good christian you are if you are blind and cannot see the job of devil here? It is not racism, it is HATE! = NO LOVE. Don't you agree? The police can be blue or yellow person but the sin is the same sin - HATE! Please pray Our father,... you will find the answer to your question there.

It was not a police man Hekuran, it was a devil who found a good source /place where to stay and make a hell. It is a devil who is managing all people who are damaging properties of others, it is a devil who fights here inside you. If person is without devil such person is full of LOVE! Don't you agree??? Love your enemies, God command number 1 !!!

As some of you are really full of hate to police man, please note it is devil who is managing you. We Christians must LOVE our enemies! Good command number 1 We have to be full of love! We have to pray for those who are damaging properties of somebody else! It is SIN AND WE HAVE TO HATE SIN but pray for sinners. Please pray with me.

Dear Renegade, you are living with heart full of hates, why are you not able to forgive anyone? God is not reminding you all the time your sins, or do you think are you without any sins? You are ready to give a list of people but are you ready to give a list of your pray for those who did a sin??? If not than please stop to write and start to talk to our God. He is LOVE. As Christian you MUST be similar as Jesus Christ. Are you??? Reading your sentences you are not. Where in the Bible you can find the list of victims because of Roman army? Where Jesus Christ is saying name, name, name etc. are victims so you have RIGHTS to fight, to damage the police station, to damage shops, cars on the street ? WHERE? Maybe you have a different Bible as our Christians have but your Bible calls Devil Bible! Hate and damage, bring the pain to people where you are, shout at others, be loud that world in TV can see you that you have RIGHTS and of course hate without stop Renegade.... Who are you? Child of the God or follower of the Devil???

Good Topic Chad, I realize many will misunderstand and even reinterpret the point and the issue recently that has been exposed so blatantly for many. The truth is that humanity comes in every subtle shade and none is superior or inferior, better or worse, We are taught all through the scripture to treat our neighbor as we would want to be treated but mankind is spiritually deaf.

One problem I have seen (as the scriptures have defined the problem) begins in Genesis 3:5 and that is that the ultimate fruit of the tree is that fallen man desires to be a god unto themselves. When each self becomes their own lord (instead of being submitted to YHVH) then people decide good and evil for their self and do what is right in their own eyes (as the Bible describes as evil in the sight of the Lord all through the Hebrew Scriptures).

Each trying to get their own way and interpreting everything as it affects self (elf satisfaction, self gratification,, self interest, self glorification, etc)) man strives to rule over women, clan over clan, tribe over tribe, nation over nation, religious or political philosophy over all other religious or political philosophies. "Self" lordship is Satan;s way. It brings out our animal nature where might makes right in a survival of the fittest world.

Now when the creator made mankind He gave us dominion over all that is on the earth and we (Adam and Eve) gave that authority to the Serpent (Luke 4:5-6). After this though God on occasion for His purpose would intervene He does not always do so and tolerates many of the decisions of men because He will not go against His own sure word of promise. He allows man to go his own way and suffer the consequences hoping some will learn and then turn to Him and many many have. Slavery is one of those tragedies. God did not make it and does not like it but He has allowed it (like polygamy and many other human evils) but at first and for ever, slavery had nothing to do with skin tone it was economic and as mater of the booty of war. The perversion and abomination which is slavery just became more and more distorted as it benefited those who had the MIGHT. In our great Nation it is sadly true that we have a history of inequity and this Floyd situation is NOT uncommon....just in the past 10 years we have seen an unprecedented number of men =f African descent MURDERED unnecessarily by caucasian Police officers and what is worse than this is that IF they even get arrested they are almost never charged and even if they go to court they walk free.

If that happened the other way around do you think the black people would have walked away free? I know you know they would not have. In fact they probably would be dead before long. The racist past has created this divide (which biologically and spiritually does not exist) now we have to heal it.

Love one another as I have loved you...

Chad, I do not agree with your interpretation of “the curse of Gen 11.” From Adam to the Flood, from the flood to Babel, there was one culture/race/language. God saw that it was not good that man spoke one language and thought with one mind so He confused their language and scattered them. Virtually nothing is said or known of this miracle. In an instant, God assigned one of many different languages to select groups of people. Did God literally “move” each of these new groups to different geographical places on earth in the same instant he gave them a new language? Did God also “change” their appearances so that each group looked and spoke differently, and simultaneously became a new culture? Mankind did not fashion or create this miracle of cultural diversity, God did. I Revelation we read that the diverse nations of cultures is pleasing to God. We are all “different” yet one in Christ. How ironic that the folly of man is striving to bring all of humanity back to Babel- back to one language and of one mind. Are we not defying God in doing so? Is this not the goal of Antichrist- to bring the whole world into one political/economic/religious system? It is foolish and naive to suggest that “equality” will save us. America is on the verge of collapse, not because of “racism”, but because of corruption and Godlessness. Every aspect of America has been corrupted from the top to the bottom. There is no cry of repentance, no humbling ourselves to denounce the world of pleasure and ease, and no call to arms to stand for and defend the Word of God. Instead, we move closer to lawlessness as every man lives for self and self survival. But there is still a remnant of just men who seek the truth. Truth knows no color and follows no political ideology or propaganda. It’s driving force is faith not fear. It’s actions are love. It’s Hope is Eternity in the presence of God.

Adam and Eve were niether white or black but of thhhe genetic proclivity to produce lighter and darker shades....these later grouped together and reinforced these alleles... We are all one in Christ

The OP is absolutely correct to link the miracle of Pentecost with the reversal of Babel. It was a sign that God's blessing was to be poured out on all nations, creating a new family that transcends national, cultural, ethnic categories. It's a theme that is very prominent in almost all of Paul's letters.

And remember that when Jesus returns in glory to redeem creation, the divisions between nations will be overcome. See Revelation 22.

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

I understand this to indicate that in our resurrection bodies we will retain our national and cultural identities, but we will lose the current division and discord, living in perfect harmony.

But i agree with scripture, and i did not say money was the cause. I said" "The Root of all kinds of Evil" "The Root".
"For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. By craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows."

I never said that knowing your Bible will stop racism. In essence my statement was, implicitly applying that we are sinners but still christians and some christian think they are not. But to come to that conclusion we must have the whole counsel of God that we can recognize our own condition.

The world will be the world and will not get better just more deceitful and cunning in its practices. A lot of Christians do not realize that they are racist!
We are supposed to enlighten one another. We are not called to make a better community and social society, that is not the "Gospel of Jesus Christ" !
The Gospel promises that this world will become increasing wicked. Not better, we cannot change this world or delay God's Wrath upon it.

Gods wrath wax hotter and hotter each day, but Jesus is sitting on the throne at the right hand of the Father, right now making intercession for his "own" and not the world and everything in it. And waiting for the "FATHER" to get up and say! It is Time, I have had enough! [paraphrasing and using Hyperbole"'].

My brother and sisters You must recognize your sins so that you may confess and turn away from them, And ask God to change your thinking.. Only True Christians has the power to do so! The world will always enjoy "Racism", They love darkness rather than light! The world will always love darkness than light.

But you are compel by your God to "Walk in The Light" You have the gift to choose the Darkness or Light the world has no power to walk in the light! You Do! by the power of the "Holy Ghost"!

"Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye." It did not say out of the worlds eye, it said with out error your Brother's eye!

I should had spoken in "layman" terms in my 1st reply. I hope this is laymen enough. Sinners sins, The Bible show us our sins so that we may confess them, by the story's of men and women and how GOD has dealt with them! Concerning all kinds of Matters. And it is more blessed in reading the whole Book than a few short cuts and parts, and thin knowledge of God in which He has bless for the edification of the Saints in knowing HIM.

"Thy word have i hidden in my heart that i might not sin against thee"! I hope to God that everyone who read this post will read every oz. of "the Book" and rejoice and be glad in it."

Shalom my Brother and sisters in Christ! This world is not your place, You just occupy, until He comes to get us and take us away.

But we as true christians, know this, that the ,world will never get better, for God has condemn it. He promise us that in this this world, we will have trials and tribulations. That is a promise from God! The worst it gets, the closer is His return! So rejoice, your redemption draws near.
