Moving on and updated form: From: B.C./A.D. to BCE/CE and have you wonder why, and who is leading the way?

Is this the reason why:

The simplest reason for using BCE/CE as opposed to AD/BC is to avoid reference to Christianity and, in particular, to avoid naming Christ as Lord (BC/AD: Before Christ/In the year of our Lord).

It would be advantageous Ploughboy, to us old people who are not so used to text speak and abbreviations, to put words to the letters so we can understand the debate. :innocent:

AD is Latin: Anno Domini 'the year of our Lord'. Understandably, followers of other faiths don't want to proclaim this when they talk about dates, so in academic circles and elsewhere Common Era and Before Common Era is preferred CE and BCE

Thanks Hekuran, I see now, how the're sidelining Jesus. I understood BC and AD, it was the CE and BCE that I needed clarification on.

When I first heard that terminology, I referred to it as Before Christ Era and Christ Era. If someone were to ask me today what it meant, I'd say the same thing.

There's a neutral explanation here.

When we begin to see "the little Foxes" slipping in, spoiling the vines, "His coming has to be close." Others cannot see "The Fig Tree Blossoming", buds, budding everywhere it would seem. In our books, on Television, in concerts, in our homes, schools, in the churches, in our courts, on our beaches, in our corporations, and the deceptions of our "Generic Brand of Christianity" in which it is a Worship of "Hedonism" with a slight hint of "Antinomianism", and most of us have become accustom to its practices and immune to its presence and have develop "anti-bodies" while others have been gravely affected and infected. And our "christian moral compass" that should be generated by the "Holy Scriptures" has veered off course, How far will most go before they will proclaim "I am lost" and how many will there be, that can give point them in "The Right Direction"? Will they point them unto themselves, will they point them to the church or will they point them to "The WORD of God"? Is there a difference? Yes there is.
