God Draws Us to Salvation

Active
God does the drawing to salvation. This drawing is one-sided. We who are drawn have a passive role in the process. We will respond, but the drawing itself is all on His part. John 6:44-Jesus declares that "no one can come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day." Only those who have been drawn through special revelation, by the power of the Holy Spirit and the grace of God-will come to Christ.

Every person I've had the opportunity to talk with about salvation has told me the same things I'm fixing to tell you. We have all had the same experience. This is my experience: First, God the Holy Spirit convicted me of my sinful state and my need for a Savior..-John 16:8. Second, He awakened in me a previously unknown interest in spiritual things and created a desire for them that was never there before. Immediately, my ears were opened, my heart was inclined toward Him, and His Word began to hold a new and exciting fascination for me. My spirit began to discern spiritual truth that never made sense to me before.

The man/woman without the Holy Spirit does not accept things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him/her, and they cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.-1 Corinthians 2:14.

Finally, I began to have new desires. God had placed within me a new heart. Now, this new heart He 's given me desires to know Him more and more. This new heart wants to love Him, obey Him, and walk in the "newness of life" that He has promised.-Romans 6:4.

Father, thank You for drawing us to salvation. Thank You for giving us a new heart that loves You and wants to obey You. Father, one of the new desires You give us is to study Your Word. We delight in Your Word. It's something our new heart just wants to do. May our relationship with You grow stronger as we study Your Word and follow Your will for our lives. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
