Jews are disobedient in the land with no Temple

Active
For the Jews to be brought back to the land, Israel, and to not have their temple is disobedience on their part. We can view this many ways through Christianity's eyes, but through the Jews eyes, it must be due to disobedience. God has chosen the place for the temple. Yes, the temple was destroyed due to the disobedience of the Jews. But whenever the Jews returned, God told them to rebuild the temple. See (Ezra) and (Haggai)

And, the Jews have the promise of another temple to be built at a future date. This is found in the last chapters of (Ezekiel 40-47). So, God has brought them back to the land. He has given them Jerusalem again. They know there is to be another temple. They need to get busy and start the construction. Waiting is only disobedience.

If they say, we cannot due it for the trouble it will cause, then they will never do it. There will never be a time when it won't cause trouble. When the second temple was built it was in the midst of adversity and many attacks by the enemy.

To the Jews who don't even believe in their own God and their own Scripture, then they are in disobedience at the start. To the Jews who believe in their God, the God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and Moses, and David, they need to get busy. Take over the temple mount, which is already theirs anyway. Tell the muslims the Dome of the Rock needs to go. Was not God with Ezra, Nehemiah, and Zerubbabel ?

My point being, just as the title says, no matter what the Christian may say concerning the temple, the Jew in the land, being satisfied in being there without the temple, is in disobedience to God.

The Jews are working to get the temple build....Not that it matters. God will not be indwelling it...But the Man of sin will.

Are they? Then why isn't there any work being done on it?

Where is the Jews faith as represented by Nehemiah, Ezra, and Haggai? It is nowhere to be found. They simply are satisfied in being in the land and enjoying the benefits but forgetting about God. The Jews of Ezra and Nehemiah's day built with the sword in one hand and mortar in the other. Such men cannot be found in Israel today. Or, anywhere else for that matter.

Why did Jesus call Herod's temple His Father's house? (Matt. 21:12-13)

The book of (Haggai) deals with the return of the Jewish Remnant to Jerusalem and Judaea after the Babylonian exile. One should read the book of (Ezra) and (Haggai) together. Then read (Zechariah) who was contemporary with (Haggai). God sent two prophets to the Remnant. Why? (Haggai) deals with the outward work of rebuilding the temple. (Zechariah) deals with the inward work of the Spirit upon the individual Jew as they were in ruin also.

As I said earlier, the Jews have no business in the land without acknowledging God and either having a temple or rebuilding the temple. It is typical of the people of God to start out well but then, due to resistance or just their own sin, to grow weary and to cease doing the work of God.

But I can hear the voice of the Jew now who believes in his Old Testament, though rejecting Jesus Christ and the New Testament. "This is not the time yet for us to build our temple", he says. "When the time comes, we will build it", he says. Doesn't those words sound familiar?

(Haggai 1:1-2) "...came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel...saying Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built.

To which the LORD replies, (Haggai 1:4) "Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?"

Here is a rough time line of these events.

536 B.C.-----(Ezra 1:1-2) (Ezra 3:2)----Cyrus decree to the Jews to return. The return under Zerubabbel. Altar of burnt offerings built upon arrival.

534 B.C.----(Ez. 3:8-13)----Foundation of the temple laid.

520 B.C.---(Haggai 1:1)---Haggai comes on the scene.

456 B.C.---(Ezra 7:1,8)---Return under Ezra.

445 B.C.---(Neh. 2:5) (Dan. 9:24-27)---Decree to rebuild the temple.

As you can see, after the foundation was laid for the temple, then for 14 years, between 534 B.C. and 520 B.C., the work stopped. And the people said now is not the time.
