Psa 118:8; It is better to take refuge in the LORD Than to trust in man.

It's funny that verse is in the exact center of the Bible. There are same number of verses before it, and the same number of verses after it.

There are some who say Jesus is not God, but just a man. If that's true they aren't trusting God, they are trusting "just a man".
I wonder what their answer would be if you ask them if they trust in Jesus?

Psa 37:5; Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
Psa 91:2; I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!"
Prov 3:5; Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.
Isa 26:4; "Trust in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.
Jer 17:7; "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD.
Php 2:24; and I trust in the Lord that I myself also will be coming shortly.

Psa 25:2 O my God, in You I trust, Do not let me be ashamed; Do not let my enemies exult over me.
Psa 31:14 But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD, I say, "You are my God."
2 Cor 1:9; indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;

If we aren't supposed to put our trust in man. And if we ARE supposed to put our trust in God.
Why would you put your trust in Jesus.... if... He is just man?

Greetings,

I must admit your last sentence lost me somewhat but that is probably due to my brain, not your writing.

An interesting note, though...

a lot of folk do trust in man and 'men'
in fact, a lot of folk make decisions about Jesus based on trusting what man says.

and, like i think you were alluding to(?), the many who believe man about Jesus still don't believe in Jesus even though they think he is only a man!

Bless you ....><>

If i may put my opinion on this, i think it is the level of trust that we give to man and to the trust that we have to our GOD.

If given the case, i can put my trust on Jesus regarding my salvation but I can’t put it to any pastor, Bishop, Leaders etc. Or Mother Mary because i know the fact that they are just “purely” Human being like me.

I put my trust on Jesus because i know in my mind and in my heart that He is God who humbly came in flesh to save us.

And knowing the fact that Jesus humble down Himself to be like a man just to save me, yet He didint sinned though He is in the flesh. That’s what make me trust Him more.

On that verse that says,
“ It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man,”

Is a reminder to us that we should give our Reverence, Honor, trust to God as our Sovereign GOD, the Potter than to the clay
( which is us the man ), otherwise we are making man higher than God.

Yes, exactly.

If you are only supposed to trust in God, and you are not supposed to put your trust in man...

...but if you don't THINK Jesus is God.....

then why would you trust Him?

Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we Him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, Who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Corinthians 5:16-19

Bless you ....><>

Confidence! Yes, once we are already trusting in God and His Son, we may come to have confidence in a person. First is knowing to always trust God, which we will do if we really believe who He is and are striving to surrender to Him. But most often it was some person who in some way used to direct us toward God. How much should trust in him or in other confessing believers around us? Given them all the benefit of a doubt treating them as trustworthy until you have good reason to do otherwise. Remember Paul's words about himself?

"Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." I Cor 11:1
If Paul or any man of our acquaintance is to be believed and followed, the measuring stick is Christ. But we should not use this as a basis to reject anyone too quickly...
