The point is that Christians can't tell the difference between the Ruach Qodesh (Holy Spirit) and a lying spirit, just as they can't tell the difference between a true apostle and a false one.

Someone who doesn't take things on faith, more or less.

Nobody has the ability to become a son of God.

1 Cor 12:3 Nobody can call Jesus Lord except by the Holy Spirit. Matt 16:16-17 Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven.

To be grafted into God's family requires Jesus coming into our hearts Rev 3:20. He stands at the door knocking. Only when He comes in can we truly call Him Lord. He only comes in if we are prepared to make Him Lord Matt 16:24.

Your OP scripture '' John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: '' speaks to washing us clean from our sins. In the OT repenting and believing on His name got you into Abraham's bosom. It did not make you a son of God.
