Israelite remnant:
Isaiah 10:22 [22]For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall returne: the consumption decreed shall ouerflow with righteousnesse.
Gentile remnant:
Amos 9:12 [12]That they may possesse the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen; which are called by my name, saith the Lord that doth this.
So who is the remnant?
Matthew 7:21-24,26 [21]¶ Not euery one that saith vnto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdome of heauen: but he that doth the will of my father which is in heauen.
These scriptures are humbling and eye opening!
[22]Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, haue we not prophecied in thy name? and in thy name haue cast out deuils? and in thy name done many wonderfull works?
[23]And then wil I professe vnto them, I neuer knew you: Depart from me, ye that worke iniquity.
[24]¶ Therefore, whosoeuer heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I wil liken him vnto a wise man, which built his house vpon a rocke: [26]And euery one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall bee likened vnto a foolish man, which built his house vpon the sand:

The remnant are those of Israel who believe God, and so follow Jesus Christ.
The remnant are those of the Gentiles who believe God, and so follow Jesus Christ.
Of both Jew and Gentile, it is a remnant that are saved.

Remnant generally means that which is left over or that which remains from something originally. In reference to God's people, it means those who are faithful to His original truth despite apostasy and opposition. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 1:9. "Except the Lord of hosts had left us a very small remnant, we should have been like as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah." Among people professing religious faith, the remnant is a relatively small minority. It's in the Bible, Romans 9:27. "Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved."
