The Bible... the "book of books". It's been the best selling book, since well, probably since it existed.
You never see it listed on the New York Times best seller list... although it's always outsold every other book.
The Bible... the very word of God.. written down in black and white.
What an amazing thing that we can read the very words God has said.
There are of course people who have never read the Bible who get saved, There are also people who have read the entire Bible several times, and still are not saved.
Then.. somewhat amazingly to me... there are millions of these people called Christians, who can not agree of what it says.
We do have people who get saved while reading the Bible. In fact this appears to be pretty common thing. Chick tracts, Gideon Bibles, and the Gospels with Psalms
have been mainstays in hotel rooms and even on some cruise ships. It's not uncommon to hear someone say they were saved while reading one of these.
With all of that in mind... who was the Bible written to? The easy answer is ... "everyone". Yes I would agree with that.
But are there specific parts of the Bible specifically targeted towards a specific audience?
For example, some people believe that certain parts of the Bible only pertain to certain groups of people, for example, the book of Hebrews only pertains to you if you
are indeed a Hebrew ( a Jew ). Some people believe that only books written by Paul pertain to Gentiiles. (anyone who is not a Jew).
There is another group of people who believe the gospels and teachings of Jesus only pertain to the Jews who were alive while Jesus was alive.
They view these books as a time of transition, sort of in between the old testament and the new testament, and none of Jesus's teachings apply to us anymore.
There are people who don't believe any of the old testament applies at all anymore. It's ONLY for historical purposes.
Finally, we have people who believe parts of the Bible were written to unbelievers. They believe certain passages were specifically address to non-saved people.
However, I haven't really found this. There are verses address to those who willfully go on sinning, but these appear to be more of a warning to believers than addressed
to non-believers. I would say the entire Bible is written to believers.
That's not to say a non-saved person can't read the Bible and get saved. but rather there is no passage in the Bible specifically addressed to non-believers.
So... what do you think? Are there parts of the Bible specifically written to unbelievers? I would interested to see scripture references for this.
I mean.. really, why would a passage be written to someone who doesn't believe anything in this book anyway?
