So, Is believing synonymous with obedience? If you believe....What do you think? If my question sounds a bit vague, its probably because it's a bit vague. I've never put the two together, but someone did and is fighting about it. I just wonder what you think.

John 14:15
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

the verse stuck out in my mind when I read your question

@Bendito,
They are synonymous...

Romans 10:16
But they have not all "obeyed" the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath "believed" our report?

These didn't obey, so they showed they didn't believe.

If a person say they "BELIEVE" in Jesus as Lord, they will "DO" what He says.

Luke 6:46
And why call you me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

A person that receives the Gospel through their "belief" in Jesus Christ, must show their belief by their works (Jam. 2:17, 20).

So....can you keep His commandments yet not believe He is the Son of God, or God Himself? I say thee yea

me personally I doubt it, before I was born again I had a heart that liked sinning, now I detest it.

Yes you can Bendito and Dave... The understanding of "good" is in all men born into this world. The law of God is good and man understands "good" - and are taught it from their youth. Though some people do not believe in Jesus, they do God's law in ignorance. They just do not understand the author of that good. So whether it be done in ignorance by the fall of man into the nature of "good" and "evil;" or because they are Christians - the law of God will be done. Only by Christians can the law be perfected.

Romans 7:12
Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Romans 2:14
For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Romans 2:15
Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

It doesn't matter if you can or not. Faith without obedience doesn't save you.
Obedience without faith can't save you.
