I don't trust Jesus anymore

Member
I think I've tried everything to find this Jesus Christian's are so sure about. I've looked high and low, I've looked in and out, but faith soon disappears like a vapour. I'm lost for the word's to describe the hell my life has been in pushing myself to believe over and over.

I must secretly admit, God knows that I can't believe because I'm afraid of what he'll do to me if I don't. But if I believe to save my own neck, then what kind of person does that make me?

I've been away for a while because I've been bouncing to and from the street's, it's been a terrible few month's. I called out to Jesus while I was sleeping in the gutters, and he never comforted me once. No, I just walked around in the cold feeling like I've been kicked in the gut's.

Well I would have hoped Jesus could cheer me up in a terrible place, but that promise fell far short. No, I don't trust this Jesus anymore, why should I?

You say you aren't sure about Jesus. There was a time when I felt the same way. I think people today are looking for a God that will make them happy and satisfied all the time. Maybe make them wealthy or make them famous. God is much more concerned about making us holy than making us happy.

I must secretly admit, God knows that I can't believe because I'm afraid of what he'll do to me if I don't. But if I believe to save my own neck, then what kind of person does that make me?

It makes you human, despite what some people say, there is nothing wrong with getting saved "to keep from going to hell". In fact, it's the reason Jesus gave most often by far.

Matt 10:28; "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Luke 12:5; "But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!

Heb 10:31; It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Belieiving in Jesus is only the start.

Luke 13:3; "I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

You also have to repent. ( stop practicing sin )

Matt 5:29; "If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

Even the demons believe in God.

I think in almost every case, after you come to know Jesus and build a relationship with Him, you will come to trust Him more. I think Jesus is around you right now. I don't think you posted the message above by accident. I don't think you're here on TalkJesus by coincedence. It seems you're looking for something.

Jesus doesn't want to "cheer you up", He also doesn't want to leave you in "a terrible place". God let the Jews wander around the desert for 40 years so they would learn to trust Him. Maybe your desert (terrible place) is trying to teach you the same thing. But even there, God was with them.

Greetings @soulwaves

Are you still living rough now?

Tell me, how have you been looking for Jesus?

And why have you been looking for Him?
No, because I did something rather than wait on Jesus to rescue me. Actually I've spent a great deal of time on the street's (Since I was 16 years old) My better judgment and wits has kept me alive.

Hello @soulwaves,

I must secretly admit, God knows that I can't believe because I'm afraid of what he'll do to me if I don't.

This is a choice each person makes. Trust Jesus as living Son of God, Savior or not to accept his free gift of Salvation.

I called out to Jesus while I was sleeping in the gutters, and he never comforted me once. No, I just walked around in the cold feeling like I've been kicked in the gut's.

Jesus never turns down anyone who sincerely seeks Him wholeheartedly. Never. The issue lies within the person who does not believe who Jesus is and/or not willing to accept Him into their hearts.

John 6:37
All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

Revelation 3:20
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Well I would have hoped Jesus could cheer me up in a terrible place, but that promise fell far short. No, I don't trust this Jesus anymore, why should I?

Remember this. We're all sinners. We deserve His punishment for sin. We do not deserve His grace nor mercies, but He gives it to those who believe in Him and with a repentant heart.

Why believe in Christianity?
How To Be Friends With God
How do I accept Jesus as my Savior?

Hello again @soulwaves

What did you do to get yourself off the streets?

You say you stopped waiting for Jesus to rescue you off the streets.........how did you hope He would rescue you?

Is there any way that Jesus may have given you the 'way' to do this when you say you worked it out for yourself?

Could that actually have been an answer to your prayers?

Blessings be unto you

If you've ever been utterly hopeless and reached out to God in such a place, you'd know something is terribly wrong with the promises of God.

Hello brother, My name is Joseph and I feel like this at times too. I too am on the streets. I know most are going to throw scripture at you when your not ready to receive it. I feel for your heart and empathize for your situation.

Most times we cry out to Jesus and expect some sort of release right away. Even if we wait a time, it still can feel as if he is not there. Which brings me to my point.

The Bible says he is always with us and once we receive him he will live in us. I don't know your background nor does anyone else here. We don't know if you sincerely asked or not but, if you felt like you have then the problem lies within your fear.

Jesus doesn't want you too be in fear of what God is going to do to you. Older testament churches will preach this way often. When they need to be focusing on the new covenant in Jesus Christ. He wants you to trust in him 100% and this is not an easy thing to do for us.

In order for him to work in our lives and begin healing us is we need to surrender completely. Stop leaning on our understanding and treat people like we want to be treated. Not saying you don't. I also speak of myself.

Maybe there is still something you don't see quite yet that you need to learn. Or maybe there is someone that needs your help in your situation that Jesus is going to call you to help. Who knows and that's the beauty of it. Don't let the storm distract you from what matters because the Devil works over time.

We need to be prepared to just let the worry and hurt go before we expect to see the fruit of our relationship. Praise him, worship him, and give thanks even in our darkest times. I too am still learning much and I finally see him working in my life. That's why when everyone I love gets attacked and I'm at my breaking point. I have to step back let the worry go and be still and know God is in control. Jesus loves you brother so don't give up because that will lead to death.

If you ever need someone to talk to PM me.

I testify that God has not failed me in my 16 year walk with Him. I've certainly had my hopeless moments, but He came through and strongly so.

It started by accepting that Jesus wasn't going to talk me through the whole messy process of finding a place to stay. He wasn't even there in spirit, so I had to counsel myself off the street's.

Hello again @soulwaves

You know maybe Jesus gave you that ability to councel yourself off the streets.....maybe that was your answer to prayer.

Sometimes life can seem so bleak that we dont even recognise an answer to prayer.

And the devil...who is a liar and a thief can whisper his lies into your head....his aim being to make us doubt in our beliefs and even to let go of them.

Perhaps you could try thanking and praising the Lord that you are off the streets. Dont give place to those doubts....they are just the devils lies.

Bless you

"You know maybe " is not an answer. Wink wink, nudge nudge.

But a prating fool will fall.

Your attitude is not justified either. Be respectful of others trying to help you. Remember, the world doesn't revolve around you or any one of us. You came here, respect the members now.

If you can't trust the Lord Jesus then it is impossible for you to trust anyone else. Stop being so self-centred and help those in a worse situation than yours!

Actually my trusting nature has caused me a great deal of grief, if anything I could trust less.

"Trust your doubts"

If you've never second guessed what you believe. If you put everything down to a man in a red suit, then you are truly lost.

I must secretly admit, God knows that I can't believe because I'm afraid of what he'll do to me if I don't. But if I believe to save my own neck, then what kind of person does that make me?

It's first to admit the sinner that you, I and every person but one is! This is the crux of the issue. That the resulting consequences of this condition whether we agree with it or not is what has kept us separated from God. Meaning one can be rich, poor, homeless, blind, sightless, without limbs, He doesn't exist etc. and the sin that we each have does not change the condition we find ourselves in. You think every Born Again Believing Christian is, rich, has perfect health, isn't homeless, isn't going to die?

If you believe these things, then you are believing lies. If it's those things which tell you that you haven't loved God enough, had enough faith etc. and this is why you are homeless. Wrong again!

So, if the foundation of your faith is based upon the condition outside of Sin, that you find yourself in, then you are way off track and never understood what it means to believe or have faith. This is very similar to Simon in the books of Acts. Instead of seeking God, he sought power!

What makes you so special or the believer special that they won't find themselves homeless???? Or with riches, or with as before the list can go on and on. These are conditions that are no different for any person. It rains on both the just and unjust. The problem is that you just happen to be focused on yourself. Which means you still need to know one thing. Believing and Walking in Christ Jesus is the complete opposite of self. It means no matter where you are in life or are going through from one day to the next. Your focus is on Him, and living for Him! I'm never going to say it's easy. If it were easy, everyone would say "I Believe in you Jesus" and I know you have come across those. They're not living for Him, but still for themselves. That is why they could so easily step across you as you laid in the gutter and not give it a second thought.

In ending. If creature comforts is what dictates your believing. Guess what? It's not worth the hill of beans when you find yourself in a mansion, with all the world has to offer you at your beck & call. For you'll still be empty of the most important thing there is. Jesus Christ who gave it all for You!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
Nick
