Have you ever noticed how many Bible verses say we are "being" saved. What does that mean?
1 Cor 1:18; For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
2 Cor 2:15; For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;
Luke 13:23; And someone said to Him, "Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?" And He said to them,
Acts 2:47; praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.
It seems we are a work in progress. We are "being" conformed into the image of Christ. Paul said...
Php 3:10; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;
Php 3:11; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Php 3:12; Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
Php 3:13; Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
Php 3:14; I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Is everyone saved without going through some trials to "prove" your faith?
Jas 1:12; Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
1 Pet 1:6; In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,
1 Pet 1:7; so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
Mark 16:16; "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.
I wonder if it's just my Bible, but why does it say he who "has" believed, instead of he who "believes". Maybe the belief has to proven over time.
Matt 10:22; "You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.
Matt 24:13; "But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
Mark 13:13; "You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
