For something on the lighter side.

What is your favorite food?

What are some of your yummiest native foods?

What food do you really not like?

Lets share a little light hearted discussion, not forgetting to thank the Lord for His wonderful provisions to us.

For me, in Australia, I really do not like meaty barbeques which are perhaps one of the trademark dishes.

I really enjoy a Greek Salad or Caesar Salad that I am blessed to have at work most lunchtimes.

And if anyone here enjoys seafood.....mussels, oysters......then ugh

I guess you can call me ugh. lol I love to eat most foods, but salads and chocolate, I just cant enjoy much, like I do most foods. I live in western North Carolina, close to what was once one of the oldest rivers in the world, now dried up, but can be seen using certain camera's from orbit. Some of the favorites here are cookout, chicken, steak, hamburgers, and hotdogs. Also cornbread and beans, grits, and sweet tea. I like all those but grits. They taste sort of like sand with lots of gravy, but many southerners would disagree with me. Fried okra is another southern favorite which I am not a fan of.

My favorites would be meats, cheeses, and breads (fish my favorite meat, warm bread fresh out of the oven, and swiss cheese the best of that genre).

From one "ugh" to another "ugh" :)

Meat & Potatoes man is how I would describe myself. However............ ;)
Love Yellow Rice or known to some as Spanish Rice. Give me some beans with that, with small slices of potatoes and some chicken and...........gosh...I'm not moving for days!!!!
I have strange tastes for sure. As a child couldn't eat solid food until they took out my tonsils at the age of 6. So my taste buds to the rest of the world is unique to say the least! No taste for greens/vegetables!!!
Still, my wife has had some affect on the vegie side of the house from the south.....she cooks up some fresh green beans in a pot with small red potatoes and a slab of salt pork. Yummy!!! All, I need for a meal with a nice cold bottle of water!

Oh, for the local food.....Scrapple!!! Just has to be cut thick so after its cooked it soft in the inside.
If you don't know what scrapple is....just imagine that it contains everything but the "oink"! :)

Just finished dinner and I'm starting to get hungry again! Best close this out and move to another thread!!!

Good one sister!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

The only soft drinks I ever drink is root beer or sprite (or sprite similars). No caffeine in root beer, although plenty of sugar, and I dont drink a lot of either. Soft drinks, be they regular or diet, tend to make me gain weight.

I like meat! My favorite of that is bear meat. For dessert I'll have moose elk and then I'll take beef.

Bear is like pork bbut richer, darker and a bit more fat. LOL. I eat fruit and veggies too but prefer MEAT. Until I got married I ate meat almost exclusively.only going for greens when I felt a need for it. In winter we need a higher amount of meat to help us handle the cold. I've seen temperatures of minus seventy farenheit

You were initially right, our cookouts are having a barbeque outside ... using... chicken, steak, hamburgers and hotdogs, and on rare occasion rib meat.

If only I can cast multiple votes then I would choose all of them. Well, I love to eat most of the option I love but what stands out is the vegetables. For me, it is organic though I find it very expensive than the meat still good for living and health.

I was born and bred in a fishing village. Best meal possible: spend the afternoon on a boat with a few old and close friends and family, hoik in a few crabs and cook them on the shore. Spend the evening picking the meat out of the claws and shell. Squeeze of lemon, hunk of bread and bottle of white wine as the sun goes down.

(written from an air conditioned office in central London)

There's been some research out lately - i cant find it right now - that has found that food actually physically tastes better when eaten in company, and food is more bland when eaten in isolation. Receptors in the brain being activated or something.

My guess is that the tastiest meal you have ever eaten was shared with someone you love above everyone else.

All of the above! :)

My absolute favorite is.......

Joh 6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

Psa 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Sounds good @Hekuran  (minus the crab )

My guess would be you are perhaps native to somewhere in Europe other than the UK with your description of fishing and earing?

And yes meals eaten with those you love and especially those who love the Lord are certainly the best.

Yes indeed.
Your post bought to mind a beautiful old hymn sung during fellowship meetings when breaking break

What food luxurious loads the board
When, at His table, sits the Lord!
The wine how rich, the bread how sweet,
When Jesus deigns the guests to meet*

*From hymn Amidst us our Beloved stands.... Spurgeon 19th centuary

Nope! Born and bred in Britain. There's a quite a few smaller villages and towns dotted around the coast here, and that's where I'm from.

I'm confident I could convert you to really fresh crab or lobster. Very tender and delicately flavoured.
