What God Can’t Do

Wherefore hidest thou thy face, [and] forgettest our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth. Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake. Psalm 44:24-26

Can God truly hide from you or turn away from His own people? Could God actually ignore what is happening in the world?

Your perceptions of God and reality can appear difficult to reconcile when life begins to fall apart. Whether you’re going through a tragedy, a struggle, or a season of spiritual darkness, God isn’t hiding, ignoring you, or looking away from you. But God’s presence doesn’t always mean your problems will be solved, life will go smoothly, or that all of your doubts and uncertainties will disappear.

This tension of suffering or doubt of God’s presence goes back centuries, and there’s no reason to expect that you’ll be part of the generation that finally figures it out. The psalmist leads you to the only place where you can find rest. Even as you feel beaten down by life and struggle to rise up from where you have fallen, place your hope in God’s unfailing love.

Even if you have your doubts and come to the end of your faith, because of His unfailing love God can’t turn away from you or ignore you. Even at your lowest point, you are always loved.

this doesn't even make sense:

"Even if you have your doubts and come to the end of your faith, because of His unfailing love God can’t turn away from you or ignore you. Even at your lowest point, you are always loved"

The Lord God not stupid, if He is with you then He will respond to you. that's what God being with you means. heck that's what any living being, that is with you means. those who don't get a response God is not with. then they like those in the bible that God is not with go to someone like Samuel or Isaiah or Elijah and the like that God is with and make their supplication through them. just as all who know God know Him through Jesus (by the way they also came to when He walked amongst His People to make request of the Lord their God).

the Lord God is Faithful to the faithful, simple as that. and if the Lord isn't answering you then you best find out why. a loving father doesn't leave his son hanging or high and dry when his son is in need. and that is what men will do. not to mention the Almighty.

2Tim 2:13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.

@Curtis That's what I was going to quote!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

@D_Martin I don't know where you found/believe that God is only faithful to those who are faithful. God, as brother Curtis quoted from Scripture. Is always faithful. Even when man is not.

Man, will if he believes, reach a point where all appears lost. A point that could be called a place of "faithlessness", not in His existence, but rather of being forsaken, left alone, deserted if you will. Many at this point will cry out to the Lord! Seeking what they do not sense they have. His presence, His attention, etc.

Despair, at it's worse can hinder ones walk, but in another way, and I believe a positive one. Can also bring us back to where it all started. I believe that to be the foot of the Cross. There is where we, or at least I, found the first inkling of what the Love of God means.

I hope this helps a little brother in coming to understand this devotional, though you may never have found yourself in this position. I have more than once, and I do thank God for His faithfulness, even when I was not.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

who's faith is it, that is faithful, that is acceptable in the Presence of the Father?

Gal_2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Php_3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Rom_3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Gal_2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Gal_3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Rev_14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

hence this is the faith "received" that is faithful

and 2Ti 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
2Ti 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
2Ti 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
2Ti 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

"He cannot deny Himself" is His faith not yours. the faithful in the case of Christ is in those who have received His Faith.

and 2ti 2:11 in context really doesn't apply to what you said does it? but you're not going to point that out even though it a very good chance you know that.

when Jesus walked amongst His People He looked for and Honored the request of those who believed and trusted Him. those who taunted for proof He didn't honor did He? and He's the One who insisted that it is the Father that chooses and draws the soul to Him. so Jesus is actually honoring the Father's will and choice being Faithful to the Father. and without being born again you get none of the above.

Ouch.

"Even if you have your doubts and come to the end of your faith, because of His unfailing love God can’t turn away from you or ignore you. Even at your lowest point, you are always loved"

Truth be told. The context is okay. For like this devotional, and mentioned in your quote in 2 Timothy 2:14 "....put them in remembrance...." which is all that is being said here. Not from the perspective of God, but rather man's incomplete one. The person being attacked (Spiritually/Physically) often times may feel they are forgotten. Apparently some have found themselves there, and some still might. So, this was written to let the person know, you are not!

If you haven't been in despair, maybe you can't relate or you are very quick, able to lean upon Him, and His Word, so that you don't fall into this type of despair. Which God Bless you is "AWESOME"! Not everyone can say that, and at times still requires a reminder that He is there for you. Which is what this devotional and myself are attempting to communicate to you. Look around the counseling forum, and other areas of TJ. You'll find that this is a condition that in this darkened world is felt by far too many.

Still, if you don't agree with the Devotional or the condition it is speaking to does not apply to you. That's okay too brother, it may to others and that is why with Hope & Prayer they are presented. So, that they may touch those so in need.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. Job 22:29

I do wonder how this scripture would apply?

Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Maybe, prior to the condition that they find themselves in from the original verse. I see this devotional directed more towards one that has forgotten not that God exists or has ever existed, but that He's a 24/7 God. Going about ones business as usual in life, without regard to God being there, allows for one to find oneself in the originating verse's condition of which it speaks. So, even if you do find yourself there. He is still there! Alleluia!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts brother.
