Child like faith?

Mark 10:14-15
But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.

Matthew 18:3
And said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Wondering what this means to you?? seems to me that we are to trust father God just like a young child trusts his earthly father in a way. as a young child we do not know anything we trust our parents to take care of us we lean on them for everything. It seems to me that is what above scripture is saying trust in God not in yourself, you will never fully understand everything and that ok trust in God.

what does the above scripture say to you??

I'ld say you got the gist of it.
We can be sure that every commandment of God is doable, as a dad doesn't lead his child astray.

as a dad doesn't lead his child astray.

Greetings,

sadly this is not the case for every child.

Yes, the gist of it is right but perhaps we could 'open' it up a bit further for those many who did not or have not had any good leading from their dad, if any at all?

Bless you @At Peace ....><>

Greetings again so soon,

seems to me that we are to trust father God just like a young child trusts his earthly father in a way. as a young child we do not know anything we trust our parents to take care of us we lean on them for everything.

While we can imagine what this means and reason it out in the best scenario possible, it will only be an abstract sort of idea that we can allude to, for many.

Also, when we consider a child, do they really 'trust' their parents by deliberating on it? Or is the trust one of complete abandonment (?) or perhaps better put, a case of not even thinking about if they are trustworthy. They simply are, and even that does not go too deeply... unless others plant wicked seeds of confusion and doubt in to their heads (ears) and by that their hearts and souls?

Does a child know anything else? They might see other children and parents and yet in their youngness, do they weigh it all up too heavily at all?

A child is born and from there they simply are. All that happens and doesn't happen is. Sound strange? It doesn't have to. Perhaps it has something to do with being 're-born' and starting afresh? Or was Jesus talking about us deliberately pulling our minds back to a place of being empty of contradiction and confusion and guilt and shame that can slowly creep into one's life as they get older?

A few thoughts.

unless...
we look at the Children we read of in Scripture, usually referring to the Children of Israel, and perhaps more specifically as God being the Father (of the Children).
If you read Hebrews chapter 12 you will see some interesting connections to the words of Jesus about becoming little children.
My paraphrase would be something like, "if you are not willing to become His Children you will not be in the kingdom..." or such like.

Here is some of Hebrews 12. I encourage you to read it through.

I am reminded of the Scripture that tells us of Abba Father.... whom we call as Sons through adoption. Unless we become as His Sons, we will not enter in.

{what must I do to be born again?}

Hebrews 12:5
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 12Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

13And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. 14Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 15Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

16Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. 18For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, 19And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

20(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: 21And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake) 22But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

24And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things that that of Abel. 25See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29For our God is a consuming fire.

Bless you ....><>

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Galatians 4:6

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:15

That ye may be the children of your Father Which is in heaven: for He maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:45

The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; Matthew 13:38

I canoed along a river looking to shoot a moose one autumn. My seven year old daughter insisted on coming with me.. We were very close and I usually gave her what she wanted...The other end of our trip was about ten miles away and my Lady was to meet us there.. Well I didn't realize how much this portion of the river twisted. It made the trip at least twenty five miles...LOL
Well at one point, we shot a series of rapids and it was fun, until we came to a rapid with a ninety-degree turn. There was a log there with a branch sticking out like an arm. As it goes, that branch caught me right in the middle of my chest and the canoe swept under it, laying onto its side. I rolled out of the canoe and was able to stand at that point. Grabbing the canoe I righted it. to find my daugher was still in her seat! My rifle was wet but still in place. All we had lost was a paddle and my daughters boots. (I'm not sure why she was not wearing them.) Danae' was screaming and crying in fear and shock. The water was ice cold!
I pulled the canoe and my daughter to the shore and got her out of her wet stuff and into some dry clothes. My shirt and jacket that didn't get wet. Then I expained t her how a child crying in the woods could bring us more trouble than we already had. She just said "Ok" and shut it down. There was no place there to set up a camp to get dried out, so we kept on...When it became clear that we would not meet with my Lady before dark I started watching for a place to spend the night. We found it a few miles down the river...Since Danae had no boots now, I had her stay in the canoe and pulled the boat right into the bush with us. I would need it anyway. The snow was deep there and I expected it to be fairly cold that night. Putting together a fire, was a bit of a problem since everything we had was damp, if not wet, but we got it going. Then I set the canoe on its side to catch the heat of the fire, then I made a bed for my girl in the canoe. All the while, since we rolled in the river, she was in the obedience mode, simply leaning on me to take care of her. No questions, no arguments, just obedience. It was warm by the fire. and she had a bit to eat then I put her to bed. I was able to get her clothes hung up around the fire to dry, and as they came dry I put them onto her...and got mine onto me...(I needed them!) So went the night. The big log that I had set across the back of the fire for a reflector burned down to a shell, and daylight was upon us. Our clothes were dry, my rifle was cleaned and ready, though at that point, a moose was out of the question, and we were almost ready to go...I gave Danae something to eat for brekky and noticed she was crying. She was worried about her mother! Time to go. Putting her back into the canoe, I pulled it back to the river and launched...We chased a beaver which would slap the water and dive. Come back to the surface, slap the water and dive. He entertained my daughter for a couple miles like that. Then we came to a section of the river that had frozen over...I pulled the canoe out and walked along the river for a long way before we found open water again. It happened again a mile or so farther down...This time I had to come out of the river on the wrong side. We were only a mile or two from meeting my Lady at that point, but I still had to cross the river...then coming to a point where the ice in the river only reached part way across, I put us back into the water and paddled hard to hit the ice and drive the canoe up onto it. I could break a way through that way. So...on the other side now, I was able to put us onto shore where our car was parked, Whoooo! My Lady was not there. It turned out she had looked for help and ran into a RCMP who was out hunting. He took her into town then took her home...About ten minutes after my daughter and I got to the car a big blue helicopter lnded nearby and three cops came over to check on us..We were comfortable, eating some lunch and getting ready to go look for our Lady. The cops had tracked us from the air..LOL
Anyway, my point is....my daughter simply leaned on me, trusted me to be her daddy, to take care of her. That's the way we should be...She did not worry, she did not try to interpret what I wanted when I spoke, she did not come up with silly ideas...She simply leaned back and let me support her...

He said "Abide in me..." That means....'lean back into Him, and let Him support us.

Sorry I made this so long...

Though not every earthly dad will be trustworthy, a child won't know that till he is experienced enough, from seeing the dads of others be trustworthy while his own isn't.
Everything on earth is a...comparison game.
Is dad better than my friend's dad...or not?.
Is my mom a good cook..or not?
Is my favorite team good...or not?
Experience will eventually turn children into adults, but at the first, as a child, even a bad dad is trusted.
Anyone who has experienced God knows He can be trusted.

Can you "lean on Him" when He says..."Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."?
Nice story.
A good tool-remembrance to use with your daughter the next time she decides not to trust you.

We can always lean on Him..Always! He is our Daddy. He is 100% trustworthy.
My daughter is forty three now...She doesn't need to trust me as much as she needs to trust our Father for everything now.

Child like Faith

You can tell a child Santa clause or the tooth fairy or a two headed p.o. p.o. is real.

They will argue with anyone who says different .
They believe it to be the way it is and it is settled .

They don't have to understand the doctrine or how this could be, they just believe.

It's the same for a believer, if God's word says it then it's settled.
We need to believe it even if we can not reason it.

Blessings to you

I partially agree. The first part ''to such belongs the kingdom of God''. Speaks to their innocence and 'genuine' acceptance. Children are not naive and all trusting. A baby knows to cry if it is in the wrong hands. But once a child has got your trust, they will completely trust.

In addition. If we visualize the children wanting to be with Him. We see excitement and eagerness to embrace Jesus. Does Jesus excite us? Or do the 'things' of Jesus excite us?

Good.

@At Peace
what does perfect mean to you??? to me if I was perfect I would never get sick, if I was perfect I would never make a mistake doing anything I would always get everything right the first time. To me if I was perfect I would not have to battle against the flesh everyday. So I got to know what you seem to think perfect is??? the only thing perfect about me is Jesus Christ in me, that Jesus not me thats perfect.
