Armor of God
Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, BE STRONG IN THE LORD, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11 PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Notice who's “ARMOR” this belongs to. It's not ours, it's God's armor!!!! How can anyone be “STRONG” in the Lord without first having God's armor on? You can not!!! How often have children put their parents clothes on, and then acted like their parents? I have done that before when I was young, along with my three sisters. God is clothed in righteousness, and he has given us his clothes to wear!!! (Isa 61:10)
Notice the word, “WHOLE”, it means “COMPLETE”, the complete armor of God, not just a couple pieces, but the "complete" outfit!!!
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore TAKE UNTO YOU THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD, THAT YE MAY BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND IN THE EVIL DAY, AND HAVING DONE ALL, TO STAND.
If we are to wear God's “armor” then there must be a “battle”, and “war” we are to wage. Our war is against PRINCIPALITIES, against POWERS, against the RULERS OF THE DARKNESS OF THIS WORLD, against SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS IN HIGH PLACES.
When do these wars take place? All the time, which is why the bible tells us to “pray always, with all prayer, and supplication in the spirit....” (Eph 6:18) God's armor is for doing battle in prayer all the time, not once in a while when we feel like it, or only when we go to Church!!! Ever notice how all hell seems to break out when you are not praying?
Eph 6:13 Wherefore TAKE UNTO YOU THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD, THAT YE MAY BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND IN THE EVIL DAY, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 STAND THEREFORE, HAVING YOUR LOINS GIRT ABOUT WITH TRUTH, AND HAVING ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS;
Everything about the armor of God is about his Word. Thy “Word is truth....” (John 17:17) The BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS comes from Jesus, who is the Word of God!!! Jesus is our righteousness!!!
2Cor 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; THAT WE MIGHT BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM.
When the Bible says to “come BOLDLY to the throne of grace........” (Heb 4:16) We can not ever do that unless we know, and believe we are the righteousness of God in Christ!!! Knowing and believing this gives you the breastplate of righteousness which is a part of God's armor!!!!
Eph 6:15 And YOUR FEET SHOD WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;
Eph 6:16 ABOVE ALL, TAKING THE SHIELD OF FAITH, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
The Gospel of peace is not known without knowing the Word of God that tells us this!!! Jesus came and preached “PEACE” to those who are close, and to those far away. (Eph 2:17)
The shield of “FAITH” comes from the Word of God, Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God!!! (Romans 10:17) Faith is the only thing that can quench ALL of the flaming arrows of the Devil.
Eph 6:17 And take the HELMET OF SALVATION, and the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, WHICH IS THE WORD OF GOD:
Eph 6:18 PRAYING ALWAYS WITH ALL PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION IN THE SPIRIT, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
The “HELMET OF SALVATION” protects our mind, and heart from the lies of the Devil which attempts to create in our IMAGINATION visions of doubt, destruction, sickness, defeat, lack, death and any other thing that is contrary to what the Word of God says we are or have!!! We should NEVER let these kinds of images stay in our mind, or heart.
The word “SALVATION” does not just mean being saved it also means, “delivering, saving, bringing salvation, deliverance, and well being.
2Co 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, WE DO NOT WAR AFTER THE FLESH:
2Co 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds
2Co 10:5 CASTING DOWN IMAGINATIONS, AND EVERY HIGH THING THAT EXALTETH ITSELF AGAINST THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD, AND BRINGING INTO CAPTIVITY EVERY THOUGHT TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST;
The Word of God creates imaginations in our mind, and visions in our heart that are true. When we have them, we truly have the helmet of salvation on!!!
The “SWORD of the Spirit” is our only offensive weapon. This weapon is what the Spirit of God uses through us, and it is the Word of God PRAYING always with all prayer, and supplication in the Spirit!!!! (Eph 6:17-18)
It is interesting in the book of Revelations we find this description about Jesus Christ......
Rev 1:16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and OUT OF HIS MOUTH WENT A SHARP TWOEDGED SWORD: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
What is this two edged sword coming out of Jesus's mouth? It is the Words of God which Jesus always speaks!!!
Heb 4:12 For THE WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND ACTIVE, SHARPER THAN ANY TWO-EDGED SWORD, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Not only are we required to wear God's armor (clothes), we are also required to use His sword!!! That is if we want to have victory. The same sword that comes out of the mouth of Jesus, is also suppose to come out of our mouths to!!!!!
We are to "clothe" ourselves with the Word, and we are to wield the Word at all times.
