The slim thread that had anchored me to faith has been broken, and I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired.

You think that Jesus is going to change you for the better, but once the honeymoon is over it's really up to you.

I doubt I even got the message the right way around, I'm a stinking sinner! And that's just fine.

I'm staying down this time.

First welcome to Talk Jesus @floor7
Know what you mean but I ain't gonna let it keep me down...some sins seem wired so closely to my life that even if I find the moment to forget they exist...they didn't. If you know what I mean.

Glad you're here though. Reminds me that He is still working behind the scenes or what I can see to insure that those who are His have an avenue of escape/hope extended to them.

Welcome and hope you stay awhile.

With love brother.

floor7,

We all go through these dark times, I can agree with that. Especially, if we spend too much time alone, our idle mind becomes the devil's workshop, and then our thoughts start going overtime. If I'm not successful at talking these thoughts captive, I can slide into a state of depression very quickly. For me, I find that being around other Christians continually does assist in keeping me on the right track. Even if things are glum for me, at least the other believer serve as a good distraction from my own thoughts, and I'm uplifted by being with them.

Also, consider what the alternative is by not serving Jesus...if the devil is beating me down in this life, the last thing I want to do is spend eternity with him...

Stay strong.

Welcome to the forums @floor7

Do you read the Bible? If yes, do you actually believe it is the true living Word of GOD? Entirely? If you do, then stop believing the lies of Satan. Jesus paid the price of all sins for those who believe in Him (John 3:16-17) and He's more patient with us than we are with ourselves. Proof? You wake up for another day. Read: Lamentations 3:22-23

Too much fence riding will break the thread, but starting at the bottom will always result in being lifted up higher.

2Cor 4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
2Cor 4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
2Cor 4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

Yes, we go through many trials and tribulations in this life, but God did not commission them, they come to destroy us. Our response to them should always be the same, in that we trust in God for our deliverance no matter what has come against us. The Apostle Paul had a very similar experience in his life which he describes here.

2Cor 1:8 We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it.
2Cor 1:9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.

The whole purpose to trials, is so that we simply trust, and have faith in God to deliver us from them as the next verse tells use

2Cor 1:10 And He did rescue us from mortal danger, and He will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in Him, and He will continue to rescue us.

I am back out on the streets tonight, I am very tired since I had only 2-3 hours of sleep the last night. And to make matters worse I have come down with a rash, and have a infected heel. I have a place to crash that's safe, but I have to wait till night fall. This is all going down in Melbourne (The most livable city in the world, or something)

If prayer and talking about Jesus could make you rich, most Christians would be wealthy.

For those who believe in Christ Jesus. The Wealth is beyond imagining. Sadly, for many others. The wealth that they seek is of the world.
Some find that also, but I'm sure you have noticed that it doesn't bring them closer to Him, but rather a hindrance to that very thing we seek.

So, in prayers we enlist aid or look at times for what we know not. Which can show itself in different ways. Some by comfort in the knowledge that He is listening, when a peace that we don't understand envelopes us. Others in the realization that the burden is no longer ours to tend to. While better yet. His presence let's us know that He is there and for me and many others. That is enough, though the circumstances we happen to be in have not changed. For we know by this, that He is in control and that it will all turn out just fine. Even in death.

I've always enjoyed the telling of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego which can be found in Daniel 3 Yet, it is this particular part that has always struck me as what faith is about. It is in these two verses and have a common thread throughout all of Scripture

"If it be [so], our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver [us] out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up." and "And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou [wilt]." Matthew 26:39

Each with differing results (in most of our eyes), but in each displaying submission to God's will and a laying down of our own or in other words "the desires of self".

I could go on, but off to work!!!!

I implore you to please be very careful with that type of proclamation. While I do not personally believe that God brings bad things upon us, I do feel that a person can give demonic forces an open door into their life by professing negative thought, dwelling on death, things like that.

Proverbs 6:2 does tells us that - "we are snared by the words of our mouth..."
Joel 3:2 - "Let the weak say: I am strong"

I encourage you to speak positive things over yourself, begin with praising God in the midst of your bleak situation at this time, take Him at His word, and see how things turn out for you. If you can get around people of faith to assist you, build you up, that would be most helpful for you at this time. Do you have a local church that you can go to for solace?

LOL
The truth is that their wandering is really being done with a purpose. "Go to the ant, O sluggard,Observe her ways and be wise," Proverbs 6:6

What you're doing kind of reminds me of a cartoon in the newspaper I once read. Picture a person looking at a rock. Then in the next caption another person comes onto the scene and starts to watch that person looking at the rock. The next caption and the person says "That's pretty stupid, watching that rock." The person looking at the rock says "You want to know something even more stupid?" Reply "What?" You probably have guessed it. :) "It's a person watching the person looking at a rock". As interesting/pensive as you watching the ants is to me. :) Your motivation in coming here has moved me in my spirit with questions even more.

I have found that too often the message & way our Lord spoke of and walked. Is lost by and mishandled by the very people who are supposed to be the flocks shepherds and teachers. Leaving many with false hopes/expectations. This is what I sense is what has happened to you. Having been in both cults & what some would call your established denominations. I relate to this with many a lost expectations in my own life. Leaving some, while wondering how those I have left behind could continue to stay even while both halves of experiences were happening to them. All the while I continued on with emptiness of unfulfilled desires and expectations of my own still twisting the spirit within me.

In many ways, this has not changed as I look at the very church I go to now. Yet, I realize as I look at those there that are part of the Body of Christ, and some that are playing at it. That the change was/is not going to happen without me taking the first step in faith/love outside myself. Oddly, too often I had been looking at and thinking "What's in it for me?". Now, I realize that it was the adversary and the natural man that was making receiving a necessary component of everything that I was doing/waiting for to happen. Continuing to read His Word has helped me to realize much and one of them was this verse and what it should mean to me and how I was looking/seeing life, my life. "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." Galatians 2:20

Sorry, but looks like my lunch time at work is over!!

Maybe you are expecting too much in this natural world formed by men's ways. What did Stephen [Acts chapters 6 & 7] expect when they were stoning him to death?

Loyal
To start, Stephen was full of faith and power [Acts 6:8]. But, people don't understand that very well and presume that the "power" is to do miracles that seemingly ignore or overrule the rules or laws or theories or beliefs that science is supposed to support.

" Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matt 7:22-23

But look again at Stephen:

"But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God." Acts 7:55-56

And as Stephen was looking up, they were stoning his physical body to death. He was apparently a young man who had never enjoyed or suffered all of the pains and pleasures of this world to the extent of you and I.

Can we do what Stephen did? Is not that giving his "all"? Being stoned to death may not be on our road, but if it were, would that not be a necessary part of our "all".
