Stories of Love, His Love

Post your stories about your journey with GOD.....

I would like to begin a thread about love.... and ask that you post your own stories about the love of God in Christ Jesus the Lord in your life.

Please draw on Scripture to reveal His love for us as the endless source of joy and strength, a fountain that never runs dry .

Psalm 36:5-10
Thy mercy,
O LORD,
is in the heavens;
and Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.

Thy righteousness is like the great mountains;
Thy judgments are a great deep:
O LORD,
Thou preservest man and beast.
How excellent is Thy lovingkindness,
O God!
therefore the children of men put their trust
under the shadow of Thy wings.

They shall be abundantly satisfied
with the fatness of Thy house;
and Thou shalt make them drink of the river of Thy pleasures.
For with Thee is the fountain of life:
in Thy light shall we see light.
O continue Thy lovingkindness unto them that know Thee;
and Thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

All through the Scriptures we see mention of His love, and yet we see in the world so many doctrines and teachings and denominations, all majoring on everything else but, the love of God in Jesus Christ the Lord. I beseech you all to consider this by the renewing of your mind, seeking to see and understand His heart for all mankind ..... And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 2Thessalonians 3:5

for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day. 2Timothy 1:12bThere is something extra specially lovely and beautiful about Christ Jesus that so often we just don't see.....When Jesus was asked, "Master, which is the great commandment in the law?" Matthew 22:36 , Jesus said unto him, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." Matthew 22:37

Can we see how we are to obey the Commandment? And yet look at His perfection.... Matthew 22:38-39 This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

in so doing we are set at liberty, and the law, which we have obeyed, turns into a blessing, and freedom from the law!

James 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

For me, since this is a story section... my life was full of holes, I had messed up nearly everything that could be messed up, my future looked very bleak, my past full of near fatal results, my mind mixed with a kaleidoscope of super-natural and material ideas and I had no hope.... none at all.

But Someone loved me, and the very One who loved me, I rejected and even abused and persecuted whenever I had opportunity, by mockeries and tauntings, by unsavoury abuse of those who were serving Him.

Yet, still, He loved me!

In His patience, He continued loving me.... and eventually ......

Have you ever read the Song of Solomon? And then re-read the Psalms...?

Have you watched a movie or listened to a song, read a poem, looked at the stars on a moonlit night or the ocean blue and wide, kissing each shore with a passion unfathomed by man in his quest for purpose and meaning... and had a sense of something beautiful and real... an utterance
in your soul... a special something that perhaps has brought you to wonder... or tears?

..... yes, eventually, my heart broke to His gentle calling... and the floodgates of forgiveness and eternal pardon opened upon me....

and I have never been without His grasp since that twinkling of time ....and am convinced that He always did have a desire after me.... it was only ever me, lost in the darkness of sin, that witheld His open hands, offering me...

the Love of God, in Christ Jesus the Lord.

Since that moment, as defined as it was, that incredible moment of realisation that dawned upon my weary soul, I have learnt more and more and more and more of His great love toward me.. a man deserving absolutely nothing, and His desire that we all love one another with the same love, (See Matthew 22:36-40 ) and have tasted continually of His giving of Himself....

He died on the cross... my friends, He died there, after a life of giving and sacrifice... yea, He died there, speaking words of , "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do" ( Luke 23:34 )

such is this love we long for ....

please write about Him, Jesus Christ the Lord, made manifest that we may, in believing, live eternaly free, in Him, with Him, forever without end.

Bless you ....><>

Br. Bear

2Corinthians 13:14
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,

and the love of God,

and the communion of the Holy Ghost,
be with you all.

Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.
Song of Solomon 8:7

What a wonderful subject to write about Br. Bear…..our beloved Lord and Saviour’s love….

For me…….There is nothing more beautiful than exploring the measureless depths of our Saviours love.
There is no experience more delightful than being caught up in the treasures and beauty of His love……when one is in deep prayer and fellowship with Him….that place where the world seems to recede….and only His tender presence burns within the heart.

There is nothing more humbling, more abasing, more amazing than considering Him who died on the cross…..He who left the Ivory Palaces…who left the glory of heaven….who left His Father’s bosom…..to die for me. What wondrous love.

Lamb of God! Thy Father’s bosom
Ever was Thy dwelling place
His delight, in Him rejoicing
One with Him in power and grace
Oh, that wondrous love and mercy
Thou didst lay Thy glory by
And for us didst come from Heaven
As the Lamb of God, to die

I am a perfect example of His beautiful love to all sinners
Saved in my youth….but later backsliding into nine years of heavy drugs, alcohol and debauchery…..most of the time I was barely conscious of what was going on around me. Yet through those drugged, blurry semiconscious years…when nothing around me made sense…..one voice of love ever whispered to my heart...... The voice of our beautiful Lord Jesus saying ‘Come home‘, ‘I love you‘…..and His voice never stopped pleading with my heart

Matthew 23:37.…….I often have applied to myself
O thou that has slipped into a life of sin and shame how often would I have gathered you, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not
For nine years I would not let Him gather me back into His arms……but He never ever left me…even though I was breaking His heart… Amazing Love, Amazing Grace

Now fully restored and totally in love with Jesus, never wanting to leave the blissful delights of His love…….how I long that only He may be seen in me….and that only His love will shine

As brothers and sisters, fellow children of the King…….we can enjoy His love in sharing fellowship around His throne…..becoming One in Him in prayer, praise and worship…….hearts bound together in the beautiful depths of His love

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1 John 4:7

....that they all may be one; as Thou Father art in me, and I in Thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that Thou hast sent Me and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved me.....John 17:21

I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be made perfect in one..........John 17:23

His abundant love is for sharing……and how much the world needs that love….His love that knows no bounds……We can never share too much of His love. We should never be scared of abundantly sharing His love....He gave His all in love for us on Calvary....love so amazing how can we not give our all.

I have been blessed in considering His love and pray that others will write here and too be richly blessed

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.....1 John 4:10

The love song of the Welsh Revival especially inspires me to think about our Saviour's love:-

Here is love, vast as the ocean,
Lovingkindness as the flood,
When the Prince of Life, our Ransom,
Shed for us His precious blood.
Who His love will not remember?
Who can cease to sing His praise?
He can never be forgotten,
Throughout Heav’n’s eternal days.

On the mount of crucifixion,
Fountains opened deep and wide;
Through the floodgates of God’s mercy
Flowed a vast and gracious tide.
Grace and love, like mighty rivers,
Poured incessant from above,
And Heav’n’s peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love.

Let me all Thy love accepting,
Love Thee, ever all my days;
Let me seek Thy kingdom only
And my life be to Thy praise;
Thou alone shalt be my glory,
Nothing in the world I see.
Thou hast cleansed and sanctified me,
Thou Thyself hast set me free.

In Thy truth Thou dost direct me
By Thy Spirit through Thy Word;
And Thy grace my need is meeting,
As I trust in Thee, my Lord.
Of Thy fullness Thou art pouring
Thy great love and power on me,
Without measure, full and boundless,
Drawing out my heart to Thee.

I have trouble receiving sometimes, but the Lord has been so patient with me and I was very ill when I felt called to Him. I was having paranoid delusions about my family, but even in the midst of this I was feeling drawn to go to church and find out more about God. The world seemed so evil and bad that I jumped in with both feet when I realised I could be baptised and follow Jesus. Since then there have been many tears, but I have been comforted. I know that I am not alone and the Lord has blessed me with friendships here on TalkJesus.

Meditating on the Lord's love is something I feel I need to do more - this thread is a wonderful idea - thank you Brother Bear for initiating it.

With love,

Rachel

Dear sister Rachel....thinking of the words of this beautiful hymn you have posted...has left me lost in wonderful contemplation of His love....

It led me to thinking of the Fathers love for His Son....and the precious unmeasurable depths of love for Jesus to leave the dazzling glories of heaven, to leave His Father, to die for us at Calvary.....the greatest love story ever

All Thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia...(He came)... out of The ivory palaces, whereby they have made Thee glad.....
Psalm 45:8

This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased....
Matthew 3:17

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man......
Hebrews 2:9

This is from Spurgeon.

When the Son of the Most High left His Father's bosom, where He had lain from before all worlds
"Go," saith the Father, "and Thy Father's blessing on Thy head!"
Then comes the unrobing.
How do angels crowd around to see the Son of God take off His robes
He laid aside His crown; He said, "My father, I am Lord over all, blessed for ever, but I will lay my crown aside, and be as mortal men are."
He strips Himself of His bright vest of glory;
"Father," He says, "I will wear a robe of clay, just such a men wear."
Then He takes off all those jewels wherewith He was glorified;
He lays aside His starry mantles and robes of light, to dress Himself in the simple garments of the peasant of Galilee.....
Oh! methinks the angels must have wept when they lost the company of Jesus—when the Sun of Heaven bereaved them of all its light.
But they went after Him.
They descended with Him;
and when His spirit entered into flesh and He became a babe,
He was attended by that mighty host of angels, who after they had been with Him to Bethlehem's manger, and seen Him safely, laid on His mother's breast, in their journey upwards appeared to the shepherds and told them that He was born king of the Jews......
The Father sent Him!
Contemplate that subject.
Let your soul get hold of it, and in every period of his life think that He suffered what the Father willed...... from Spurgeon

My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken me?...Mark 15:34

Here indeed is love vast as an ocean..Sent by the Father...Born to die for us.....Contemplate the cost to the Father and the Son to make us sinners whole.
Amazing, beautiful, love....Thank You Jesus for the greatest love ever

Blessings....

We love Him because He first loved us.
1John 4:19

There is no light in the planet but that which proceedeth from the sun; and there is no true love to Jesus in the heart but that which cometh from the Lord Jesus Himself.

From this overflowing fountain of the infinite love of God, all our love to God must spring.

This must ever be a great and certain truth, that we love Him for no other reason than because He first loved us. Our love to Him is the fair offspring of His love to us.

Cold admiration, when studying the works of God, anyone may have, but the warmth of love can only be kindled in the heart by God’s Spirit.

How great the wonder that such as we should ever have been brought to love Jesus at all!

How marvellous that when we had rebelled against Him, He should, by a display of such amazing love, seek to draw us back.

No! never should we have had a grain of love towards God unless it had been sown in us by the sweet seed of His love to us. Love, then, has for its parent the love of God shed abroad in the heart: but after it is thus divinely born, it must be divinely nourished. Love is an exotic; it is not a plant which will flourish naturally in human soil, it must be watered from above. Love to Jesus is a flower of a delicate nature, and if it received no nourishment but that which could be drawn from the rock of our hearts it would soon wither.

As love comes from heaven, so it must feed on heavenly bread. It cannot exist in the wilderness unless it be fed by manna from on high. Love must feed on love. The very soul and life of our love to God is His love to us.

“I love Thee, Lord, but with no love of mine,
For I have none to give;
I love Thee, Lord; but all the love is Thine,
For by Thy love I live.
I am as nothing, and rejoice to be
Emptied, and lost, and swallowed up in Thee.”

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us
and sent His Son
to be the propitiation for our sins
1 John 4:10

Oh! there is a voice in love; it speaks a language which is its own;
It has a dialect and an accent which none can mimic;
Wisdom cannot imitate it;
Oratory cannot attain to it;
it is love alone which can reach the mourning heart;
Love is the only handkerchief which can wipe the mourner's tears away.
And is not the Holy Spirit a loving comforter?
Do you know, O saint, how much the Holy Spirit loves you?
Can you measure the love of the Spirit?
Do you know how great is the affection of His soul towards you?
Go measure heaven with your ruler;
Go weigh the mountains with your scales;
Go take the ocean's water, and count each drop;
Go count the sand on the sea's wide shore;
And when you have accomplished all this, you can't tell how much He loves you.
He has loved you extensively,
He has loved you abundantly,
He has loved you forever, and He still shall love you always; surely He is the person to comfort you, because He loves.

God is love in its highest degree.
He is love rendered more than love.
Love is not God, but God is love;
He is full of grace, He is the abundant source of mercy-
He delights in mercy.
As high as the heavens are above the earth,
So high are His thoughts of love above our thoughts of despair; and His ways of grace above our ways of fear.
This God, in whom these three great attributes harmonize-unlimited sovereignty, inflexible justice, and unfathomable grace-these three make up the main attributes of the one God of heaven and earth whom the Christians worship

CH Spurgeon

Beautiful Jesus, Precious love....the sweetest love story ever told.
May each reader be blessed contemplating Jesus
and His amazing love

Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called the Sons of God
1 John 3:1

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

we got a fellow worker in the church where I've seen God's amazing love in his life.

the first time i am acquainted with him, i admired his zealousness in the Lord's work. he was the youth leader that time and i am one under his supervision. he was entrusted by the Lord that influence to inspire young people to live for Christ and to give their lives in service to God. i am one of those got influenced by him by God's mighty anointing.

because of his zealousness, he bragged a lot on the things to be accomplished in the ministry almost going ahead the leadership. in two attempts he gathered support to report the pastor for disciplinary action to higher committee. he got my sympathy at first. but later the Lord just spoke a thing to me.

but the Lord resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble. by time and circumstances this fellow was gone out of the ministry. made a wandering in the dessert, in the outside world. but God's grace got hold on him and brought him back. given again an opportunity to be God's vessel of His glory and honor. yes from glory to glory he was lifted up again in the leadership circle. recognized by the pastor he reported to be disciplined.

the time came that he went to pastor a church in one of the outreaches being deployed by his own time table and dealing with the Lord. again his zealousness brought him up there giving not enough time to himself to be properly couched and guided. so he was deployed by the leadership.

but because of lack of proper training from the inside resources (the fruit of the Holy Spirit to be specific), he was unable to withstand the challenges of becoming God's servant in the pastoral level. though he has been rich in trainings and seminars of becoming a leader, but the expected fruit has not grown that well yet, so his hastiness created a great trouble in the minstry. three churches getting affected giving a lot of headache and trouble shooting.

but still i've seen God's great unfailing love to him for in the day where he shall be found no where, the pastor he reported to be disciplined adopted him in their house till a new door of office is set before him... if I'm on that position, perhaps i was not able to do it and would leave him to no where... lol... but what a humbling lesson...

he became a co-staff becoming a great trouble in my part because he's in a hurting and humbling situation. i got irritated with him everyday and was hurt. i can't accept that the one mentoring me before now become a stumbling block on my way to the Lord. one at a time or most i fail also to show forth the fruit of the Holy Spirit. a great friction is between us.

there's an experience i never forget of God's amazing love to him and including me already.. hehe

one afternoon the sky is signifying rain to come. both of us has a clothes for drying outside and he's out. i got my clothes before the rains would fall leaving his. by God's grace the rain fell when he arrived after taking all of his clothes... i can't imagine the disgrace i made to myself and the testimony i showed if his clothes got wet by the rain. that's not the only account i know i displeased the Lord because of him. i did a lot in response to what he's doing...

in this the Lord keep saying to me..

For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. Luke 6:32-33

for almost two years i struggled with this man. the Lord brought him beside me to teach me of true humility, and how to execute God's commands - TO LOVE. because i'm seeing how God considered him in all of his ways never letting him go... i ask of His grace and compassion to come on me for him...

the Lord is always victorious. by God's grace and mercy, I am now able to show His love and compassion to him not withholding good things for him anymore even when the rains will come again... hehe

as i see, it is no longer my own doing but God's doing on my behalf for Him to be glorified.

now, we're almost four years in the ministry working hand in hand with the Lord's own call for each of our lives.

All glory to HIM!!!

in Christ,

undercover

Having loved His own which were in the world, He loved them unto the end.
John 13:1

Greetings brothers and sisters

I just stumbled upon this beautiful old thread.....it would be lovely for some new love stories to be shared.

This song by Stuart Townend sums up the beautiful love of Jesus's our Lord and King

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that left Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

Can the love of Jesus reach a Big Shot?

I grew up in a very loving home with everything a kid could want. My parents were College grads and were professionals in their vocations. After serving in the Army, I owned a small electronics business. Married to a great Gal and two wonderful children. After selling the business, I moved back to my home State, Maine.

After a time working for A.B. **** Co. I opened my own Printing Company. For about ten years, I was aware that God wanted me for something but didn't know how to reach Him. I was a member of an elite Methodist Church. One Sunday, I felt the call of the Lord and went forward to answer that call. The pastor had no understanding of why I was down front. With everyone looking at Mr. Big Shot business man, I was so embarrassed!! I left and never went back.

One day while working at my print shop, I felt that familiar nudge of the Lord. I looked out the window up at the sky and said, "If you're up there, and want me for something, prove it." During the next month, a friend of mine invited me and my family to attend his Baptist Church.

Usually on Sundays, I would take my racing motor cross cycle for mountain climbs. Motor cycles were a big part of my weekends. After a couple of weeks I said yes, we'll go. For the first time in my life, I heard the Gospel preached and I understood that that was what I was needing. Both my Wife and I received Jesus as our Savior that Sunday and never looked back.

The Love of Jesus the Son of God was what I was feeling those 10 years of Him calling me to Salvation. I left the Printing Co. entered Bible College, became a Baptist Pastor and Christian Psychologist for 40 years and here I am today, retired from the full time ministry but very active helping people with their needs

Can the Love of Jesus reach a Big Shot? O Yes!! And He let the air out of me and I became a little servant of my great big Savior and Master.

I actually took the time to read all these posts on the Love of God. I fear that I have become far too complacent with the reality of his love toward me. It is something one can easily take for granted. I think I will do some agonizing reappraisal and try to remember why it is that God has been so patient and merciful with me. I am so thankful that he Israel. Time to take a step back and look at the heart.
