I have come to the conclusion, that it is very difficult to receive an education in the United States and
remain a firm believer. Bible school and theological school is one thing. (I'm not even 100% sure about
all of them). But in today's schools, things like God, creationism, the Bible, the commandments, prayer
are not only not taught, they are taught against.
In order to graduate high school or college, you must complete dozens of tests about humanity, philosophy,
evolution, and logic that all say there is no God. There is no creation. There is no absolute truth, only relative
truth. Since there is no God, there is no need for morality, and no one to answers your prayers. So why pray?
Some teens and young adults, either have enough support from their church and family to make it through
this without compromising their faith, or are grounded enough in their faith on their own to make it.
But most do not.
I personally feel we want our kids to go to college and "be successful" (whatever that means). But we are
so anxious to send them out in the world un-prepared for what is coming their way, that we don't count
the real cost (I'm not talking about money) before we send them.
I myself have had to answer test questions with answers I disagreed with in order to pass certain tests.
I knew the answer they wanted wanted me to give, and I gave it. I can tell that after 4 years (or more)
of doing this, you start to question God, you start to question the Bible, you start to lose your faith.
It is extremely difficult for a teenager, especially one without any spiritual/Biblical support, to make it
through college without being influenced by the philosophy of man, and the world.
I've tried arguing with professors, I even included little notes and Bible verses next to some of my test answers,
but after being ridiculed and failing a number of tests, I just started to go along with what they wanted me to say.
I was fortunate in that I never changed my beliefs, and had a lot of support.
But Satan has gotten more subtle, more sophisticated, and I believe most colleges are teaching things like
"alternative lifestyles", "LGBT rights", "Homosexual acceptance", "self-enlightenment", "diversity in truth",
and one I saw listed last week was "Defining your own morality".
Most college kids aren't really at a place where they're looking for God at that time in their lives.
Some are simply "getting an education".. (in how to drink socially, curse creatively, sleep with the
opposite (or same) sex, and question authority).
I don't have statistics on this, but I would guess the ratio of liberal vs conservative colleges here in the US
would be something like 95% liberal and 5% conservative.
