I know that masturbation is a sin but my fellow brother says that in the bible it doesn't say anything about masturbation is a sin if anyone can help. Thanks

Hello Andy,

This subject has perplexed everyone at some time or another. It is not trivial, for it affects the conscience, and a disturbed conscience gets in the way of fellowship. Is masturbation a sin? I really don't know. What I do know is that God has forgiven all our sin, every single one. We have received of God's grace, and want to live to please Him, and yet the good that we would do, we find we do not, and the bad that we do not want to do, we find ourselves doing: yet, God knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts, He knows that we want to live for Him.

Submit yourself to God, resist the Devil and he will flee from you, this is what we are told in His Word, aren't we?
Submitting ourselves to God, notice, comes before resisting, for we cannot fight this fight. God has delivered us already, and we are to rest on the surety of the knowledge that He has, and trust Him regardless of what we feel.

On a practical level, masturbation is a natural thing, it quenches the fires of sexual desires temporarily. Yet it can also activate latent desires and set them in motion too. There are ways of diverting the mind onto more healthy pursuits, such as physical exercise, working with our hands and occupying our minds with activities that are more profitable. Lifting our minds from the desires of the flesh, onto the things of the spirit, by reading God's Word and meditating on Him.

The most important thing though, Andy, is just to trust God, and commit ourselves to Him. Don't stress or agonize about this. You are a heathly male, with all that is associated with that, just rejoice in God, and be happy in Him.

Forgive this long response, but last but not least:- God reckons us to be holy and without blame, in Christ Jesus our Lord: and it is for us to reckon on the truth of His finished work, in Him; and rejoice in all that He has accomplished in Christ for us. This is how we resist the devil, by trusting in what God has accomplished in Christ. The act of masterbation is immaterial, it has no power over us, for we are in Christ and Christ is in God, how more secure can we ever be. Praise God!

Believe God, Andy, and He will provide.

Thank you brother I really needed to hear that, I knew that masturbation is a sin because it doesn't bear good fruit and everything of god bears good fruit thank you for that and blessings .

'Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure,
having this seal,
The Lord knoweth them that are His.
And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ
depart from iniquity.
But in a great house
there are not only vessels of gold and of silver,
but also of wood and of earth;
and some to honour,
and some to dishonour.
If a man therefore purge himself from these,
he shall be a vessel unto honour,
sanctified, and meet for the master's use,
and prepared unto every good work.
Flee also youthful lusts:
but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace,
with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.'

(2Tim. 2:19-22)

'For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing:
for to will is present with me;
but how to perform that which is good I find not.
For the good that I would I do not:
but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Now if I do that I would not,
it is no more I that do it,
but sin that dwelleth in me.
I find then a law,
that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
But I see another law in my members,
warring against the law of my mind,
and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin
which is in my members.
O wretched man that I am!
who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God;
but with the flesh the law of sin.'

(Rom 7:18-25)

'There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus
For what the law could not do,
in that it was weak through the flesh,
God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh,
and for sin,
condemned sin in the flesh:
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.'

(Rom 8:1-4)

Praise God!

You first have to satisfy yourself what sin is.
Sin is described in the Bible as transgression of the law of God (1 John 3:4) and rebellion against God (Deuteronomy 9:7; Joshua 1:18). Sin had its beginning with Lucifer, probably the most beautiful and powerful of the angels.
Think about it in this way, a good definition of sin may be : Sin is whatever God is not!
Now look a Romans 7 and see where Paul discusses how hard it is to do right....He does what he doesn't want to do and he doesn't do what he wants to do!
Then look at his answer to this struggle in Romans 8:1.

Now, is masturbation a sin? of course it is, but no worse than any other sin, because all sin separates us from God. Biblicaly, there is no such thing as a "Little White Lie"....a lie is a lie...a sin!

Here is the most important part of this discussion, do you sin willfully and with a unrepentant heart, that can lead to the "unpardonable sin" or the sin of unbelief. The good news here is that you recognize that masturbation is self indulgence or lust of the flesh and does not please God.
Stay with that thought and pray often for God to help you with this issue. As long as you are repentant, stay firm, know it is God's timing and this may take some time, but he will cure you of this like he will anything else! In the meantime, re-read Romans 8:1.

"And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." Matthew 19: 4-6

"Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency." I Corinthians 7: 2-5

Christ says "and they twain (two) shall be one flesh." This statement does not sound like Christ intended sex to be wrong. He is talking about sex, but a literalist way of looking at scripture may limit "one flesh" to sex, when it also means to bound together as two people who are in the flesh - body and mind. If that bonding does not happen then it is much harder to obey Christ and not leave your spouse.

We are to be given some spiritual life from Christ while we are in the flesh (John 10: 10, Colossians 1: 27). Sex was intended to be interpersonal and heterosexual only, and it was also intended that we should bond with one other member of the opposite sex, and not have one relationship after another with a succession of spouses. Just as divorce is not what Christ wants, so masturbation when one has a spouse would not be what Christ - or Paul - would have us do, because that could interfere with the "due benevolence" that I Corinthians 7: 3 holds up for us.

Its interesting that those who would honor Old Covenant Israel - the multitude of Old Covenant Israel - may not realize that some of the male heroes of the Old Testament - like Abraham or David - were strongly sexed. Yet they were honored by God. There is, though, no evidence that God so honored strongly sexed men in the New Covenant period - because that which is of the physical and the flesh was central to the Old Covenant, a physical bloodline, physical circumcision, physical animal sacrifices, a physical temple building, etc. .

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.

Masturbation involves lustful thoughts and feelings in our heart and mind. So the above is relevant to your question.
