1 Peter 3:19-20
After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits—
to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,

Not many people have preached about this. Is this text saying Christ preached to those who died in the flood?

I believe that is what Peter meant, that Jesus, through the Holy Spirit in Noah preached to people before the flood:

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

The ungodly rejected Christ and are now in prison by death. It took Noah a long time to build the ark and all the while he preached to people, because God is longsuffering:

And spared not the old world, but saved* Noah*the eighth person, a*preacher*of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; 2 Pe.2:5

I read where some believe it took Noah 100 years to build the ark. That's Gods longsuffering.
