What will we do in Heaven?

The Bible doesn't answer all our questions about heaven—but it does tell us that heaven will be a place of supreme happiness and joy. You can be sure that God will supply us with everything we'll ever need to make us happy there.

Don't forget, however, that one of the most important things the Bible tells us about heaven is that it is far greater and more wonderful than anything we can possibly imagine.

It's natural for us to think that our life in heaven will be like our life on this earth, only greater. But the Bible says, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9). In other words, the joy you get out of sports or anything else is insignificant compared with the joy God has in store for you in heaven.

Don't make the mistake either of thinking heaven is boring. Nothing could be further from the truth! The Bible says God will have work for us to do—although we won't grow bored or weary like we do in this life. It tells us that we will be "before the throne of God and serve him day and night" (Revelation 7:15).

The greatest truth about heaven, however, is that we will be with God and with Jesus forever. Are you certain you will go to Heaven when you die? Make sure of your salvation by trusting Christ and asking Him to come into your life today. It is the most important decision you will ever make.

You are correct to say that

The bible does say the "eye hath not seen nor ear heard, neither hath it entered into the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those that love him"

Heaven will be so different from what we know here...........We will not give this place, the earth, so much as a thought.

An old song says "We will talk it over in the bye and bye" another says "further along well know all about it" We are sentimental folks....and I like the songs.

But when we get to that place...........It will be so splendid, and with our new bodies and minds...........This old earth and all that it holds, and all that has happened, will have no attraction whatsoever.

16) "That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes."

17) "For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind."

Do you think that these verses say, only bad things will be forgotten or our whole life? I believe we will remember all the good and our bad memories will be cleasned.

The present heavens and the earth will be destroyed by God, imajw4life. Please read the following;

2 Peter 3
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and
the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy
conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which
the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 13 But according
to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

• We will need this for our new Heavenly bodies and where there will be no impossibilies

Well the New Age Christians say we will be flying from star to star or planets to planets or riding white horses, dancing on rainbows and eating cotton candy, don't listen to them because it's not Biblical.
The carnal Christians will dream of eating ice cream and other worldly pleasures and perhaps even slimming down a size or two.
The soulish Christians will dream of visiting their loved ones or their pet poodle foo-foo.
OK time to get serious, I am surprised that most Christians still don't know what they will be doing in Heaven and cannot give a clear answer, when the Bible is fairly clear about it. Not knowing or not caring is like planning an overseas holiday and not bothering to check the hotel reviews, or starting new employment and not bothering to ask what our job description will be. When we start the Christian we life we know where we came from and what we were as sinners, but we need to know where we are going and what will become of us too.

We can know what we are doing in Heaven if we know God's purpose for creating us and that is found in Genesis 1. God created mankind to do two things, bear His image, and as His representatives, even His sons, rule and reign over His creation.

1. God created mankind in His image, so we will be expressing God's image and glory and shining light (Gen 1:26, Matt 17).
2. We will be ruling and reigning over the Earth (Gen 1:26).
3. We will be enjoying the highest degree of fellowship with God (Rev 21:3, Psalm 73:25-26).
4. We will be enjoying the highest degree of fellowship with others - it will be a corporate enjoyment of God with all the Saints (Rev 21:3).
5. We will be helping Christ rule over the nations (Rev 2:26, 2 Tim 2:12).
6. We will be helping Christ judge the angels (1 Cor 6:3). As a bit of fun, assume there are a billion angels to be judged, assume that judgement per angel takes 1 week. That will take 19230769 years if Christ does it by Himself!.
7. We will be feasting, enjoying and celebrating for eternity - many references in the New Testament to feasting and enjoyment in the Kingdom of Heaven.
8. We will be taking care of and maintaining the Earth, the plants, the animals (if there are any) - the Bible is not clear about this but this is using inspiration from Genesis chapter 1.
9. The obvious conclusion to the previous 8 points, is that we will be busy.

( rev 21) The reason i ask this question is because as you all know,all the things that adam and eve were ever to need were already created before the Lord created them! So will heaven be our New Jerusalem? Or can we go to both places if we wish to? We do know there will be judgement in heaven, so i would take this as being we will see heaven at least! And if we do go to heaven why would we ever wish to go any place else??LOL But since the Lord himself will dwell in the New Jerusalem( rev 21:22) Then who would wish to dwell in heaven?? LOL Just fun to ponder is all. Not making any kind of doctrine out of this!! At first it is the New Jerusalem in Heaven, and then it is the New Jerusalem on or above the Earth. The New Jerusalem starts off in Heaven but then comes down to Earth (Rev 21:10). So it is both New Jerusalem and Heaven first and then Earth later.
Most of the Christian songs and stories about heaven, with streets of gold and mansions, are not about Heaven but about the New Jerusalem.
Actually the New Jerusalem as a place doesn't exist, there is only Earth and Heaven. The New Jerusalem coming down from Heaven is simply a symbolic term for all the saints come down from Heaven with Christ (1 Thess 3:13). Those who say it is an actual place must also believe that there is an actual dragon and actual beasts coming out of the sea (Rev 12) and that Jesus is an actual sheep (lamb).
The New Jerusalem is only a name for the glorified and resurrected saints dwelling with Christ. According to 1 Thess 4:17 we will be with the Lord forever in the air. All of the Saints together with the Lord in the air is the New Jerusalem. The New Jerusalem is us. We go to Heaven first and then we come down to above or on the Earth.

• 1 Corinthians 13:12 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
• Phillipians 3:21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
• Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

So in heaven or the new earth and or the new heaven or where ever we will be, there is no limit to the possibilites of what is to be. After all, does Jesus have any impossibilities?.....No and nor shall we!....dream a little!

Heaven is a place where God's government, authority and ruling is supreme, His will is always done (Matt 6:10). We will not be free agents or following our own dreams in Heaven, we will be fulfilling God's plan and will to the uttermost. There will be limitations according to God's will and those who do not obey God are thrown out of heaven just as the rebellious angels were. Revelation 2:27 says the nations will be ruled with an iron rod, which implies a very strict governmental ruling.

It depends what we are dreaming about, flying in the universe on white horses and sprinkling gold dust? Or accomplishing God's will to rule and reign over the Earth as per Scripture. A real Christian wants to be ruled by God and accomplish His will to the fullest. A false Christian wants to pursue their own dreams and desires.

While I do appreciate that scripture 1 peter 3:7, If this text meat that the literal planet Earth is to be consumed by fire, then the literal heavens (the stars and other heavenly bodies) are to be destroyed as well by fire. Such a literal view, however, conflicts with the assurance contained in such versus as Matthew 6:10, Psalm 37:29, and 104:5, also Proverbs 2:21,22 Furthermore, what effect would fire have on the already intensely hot sun and stars? So the term "earth" , "heavens", must be understood in a different sense.
At Genesis 11:1, 1Kings 2:1,2 & 1Chron 16:31, and Psalm 96:1 etc the "earth" is used in a figurative sense, referring to mankind, to human society. Could this be the case in 2Peter 3:7,10?
