Why didn’t Jesus correct the Jews?

Member
John.2
[16] Jesus said to the Jews who sold doves:
Take these things hence.
Do not make my Father's house,
a house of merchandise (a market)
[17] and his disciples (Apostles) remembered,
that it was written:
‘The zeal of your house has eaten me up.’ (Pss.69:9)
[18] Then the Jews said to him, (their God who came as Christ)
What sign do you show us,
seeing that you do these things (like cleansing the Temple?)
[19] Jesus said to them:
Destroy this Temple,
and in three days I will raise it up.
+
[20] Then the Jews said:
Forty- six years his Temple was in building,
and will you rear it up in three days?
+++
+++
Why didn’t Jesus tell them?
+++
[21] But he spoke about the Temple of his body.
+++
+++
[22] When Jesus rose from the dead, (a FEW YEARS LATER),
his disciples (Apostles) remembered,
that he had said this to the Jews
and they (strongly) believed the Scripture,
and (confidently believed) the Word (from GOD),
that Jesus had said (to them).

John.4
[13] Jesus answered and said to her:
Whoever drinks of this (LITERAL) water shall thirst again:
[14] but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give to him
shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give to him,
shall be, in him,
a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

The water is the Holy Spirit that Jesus gives to the CORRECTLY baptized children....

So true- In John 7:38,39 water is again compared to the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit in Acts 2:2 came on the Day of Pentecost with the sound and power of " a rushing mighty wind "
and then seen as or manifested as " cloven tongues like as of fire "
so the Holy Spirit can be spiritually compared to the elements or can actually reveal itself in physical forms.

Mostly referred to as water of drink...

John.7
[37] In the last day, that great day of the feast,
Jesus stood and cried (SHOUTED), saying,:
If any man thirsts (for the Spirit)
let him come unto me, and drink.
[38] He who believes on me,
Like the scripture has said,
out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
[39] (But this he said of the Spirit,
that they that believe on him would receive:
for the Holy Ghost was not yet given
because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

1Cor.12
[13] ... by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body,
whether we are Jews or Gentiles,
whether we are bond (a slave) or free; (a free man)
and (we all) have been made .... to drink into one Spirit.

Regards to you...

In Rev 21:6 we see God saying - " ....I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely "

Revelation 3:21
He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame
and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Revelation 7:17
for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd.

The water correctly typifies the Holy Spirit.

Near the end of Revelation -in Chapters 21 and 22- we see the culmination of God's great plan of salvation.
In Rev 21, this is the heavenly God the Father coming down to live with the saints who are now immortal (verse 3- 4) to a new earth and new heaven(on earth now)-verse 3.
This is the new Jerusalem.
God (the Father) declares in similar manner to Christ's opening words-Rev 1- I am Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end........
In Rev 4 it opens up God's throne to John and us to see what it looks like
The story line is Jesus returns at His second coming and battles the evil forces against Him, along with the first fruits saints.
Then there is the Millennium -the 1,000 year reign of Christ on earth but at this time He is only on the throne of David.
The throne of God the Father is still in heaven.
after the 1,000 period and the Great White throne judgment and satan has been cast away forever and those all worthy of mankind have received eternal life, the Throne of God the Father will descend from heaven and the saints will now be dwelling with God the Father and the Lamb on the new earth.
Aside from the Revelation we can read this in 1Cor15:23-28
1Peter3:22 shows that Jesus sits on the right hand of God and together they will rule the universe from the New Jerusalem in the Kingdom of God. This is the new Throne of God.

the thirst will have finally been quenched for all who overcame.

  • Jesus stated that he was 7 ( I Am's), he never mentioned water.
  • Yes, I too believe it is metaphorical: "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 "but [SUB]h[/SUB] whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him [SUB]i[/SUB] will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."
  • But, I also believe that this is describing an actuall event that can happen; it certainly did for me and was a sign to me that the Holy Spirit was in me. I have experienced this feeling (like a fountain springing up in me), a feeling of joy and peace and it quenched my spiritual thirst, which I know is everlasting. So, I undertand about not thirsting spiritually anymore because Jesus gave me his spirit!

Jesus quenches your internal spiritual thirst.

Yes water is a spiritual metaphor for the Spirit because the Spirit quenches our spiritual thirst (the "God shaped hole" in our heart etc etc.). And water is also a spiritual metaphor for the Word because the water is something which flows. The Spirit is not stagnant water like a pond, but flowing water like a river. The flowing of this water, becomes the rhema Word of God, that is, the action of utterance of God's words from the Spirit. In summary, the water is the Spirit, the flowing of the water is the Word. This is why when the Spirit flows, there will be utterance, prayers, hymns, songs, prophetic words, exhortation, teaching etc. A good way to test how much of the Spirit is flowing, is by how much speaking of God's Words there are. This is a test we can apply to ourselves, church, bible study, prayer group etc. Little speaking equals little flow of the Spirit. When the Spirit is flowing within us, the Words of God will naturally come to our mind and to our tongue - we cannot contain them.

But if we keep God's Word in our heart, and be silent, this flowing water becomes a fire which burns:
Jeremiah 20:9 But if I say I'll never mention the LORD or speak in his name, his word burns in my heart like a fire. It's like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in!

This is why when we sin, the first thing we do? We become silent. When we offend God, we become silent. When someone offends us, or we offend others, we become silent. When there is a church or family or bible study group that is angry and offended by each other, they are all silent. This is because we have quenched the Holy Spirit and He has stopped flowing. The way to restore the flowing of the Spirit, the speaking, is to confess, forgive, humble ourselves, and make peace.

there are a lot of metaphors and symbols mentioned but to know that you have the Holy Spirit in you must follow a process and be obedient to God.
first repentance-a complete change of life-baptism by immersion, and the laying on of hands and then you shall receive the Holy Spirit.
If you have not experienced all of these you don't have the holy Spirit right now.
If you don't keep the commandments of God-like the 7th day Sabbath and God's Holy days-you don't have the Holy Spirit in you = 1 John 2:3-4
You must do your part to be in Christ-belief, reciting prayers, fasting ,choosing what is right in your eyes doesn't cut it.
You must follow the formula that God demands and reject the ways of the world in order to be imbued-otherwise you are falsely adhering to a faith that is heading down the wrong path.
read your bible about the way to salvation.
the life you save may be your own.

Hello Judge not.

Revelations 3
21 He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also
overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

That is past tense Judge not, Jesus before the millennial reign is already seated on the throne.

Do you believe in the trinity?
