Why did Christ come to earth?

Jesus came:

3.) to serve - Matthew 20:28
4.) to fulfill the law - Matthew 5:17
5.) to call sinners to repentance - Matthew 9:13
6.) to destroy the works of the devil - 1 John 3:8
7.) so that whosoever believes on Jesus should not remain in darkness - John 12:46
8.) to set at variance the members of your own household - Matthew 10:34-35, Luke 12:51
9.) to send a fire on earth - Luke 12:49
10.) for judgment - John 9:39
11.) so that they might have life more abundantly - John 10:10
12.) to save sinners - 1 Timothy 1:15
13.) To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. - Galatians 4:4-5
14.) so that we may know him that is true - 1 John 5:20
15.) to shed His blood to reconcile us to God - John 12:27
I'm sure there is more...

I think this just about sums it up!! The Bible is full of the reasons why Christ came. I would certainly suggest reading through the Gospels; it will answer many of your questions regarding this topic!

lol sorry for the shocking typos above....:embarasse

If one is removed form the Law ? you have nothing at all.
The Law came about because of Sin and anyone who rejects Holy Moses is of Satan, as Moses is one in Christ.
Satan will always trade a lie and give you a counterfit. Jesus never said he came to abolish the Law at all ! did he !
Holy Moses gave the Law and Jesus finished it off, put the icing on the cake to finish it off so to speak.
Their is no two diffrent people in God OT or NT as all are one in Christ Jesus when they are in him.
But there are them who say lord lord and are not of him as he never knew them.
Anyone who rejects the OT also rejects the NT. Jesus shines light on all things. that is what he came for !

Why is this a question?

Did Christ come to save the world?
Did He come to bring peace to the world and relieve suffering?

What do you think are the real reasons the Son of God came to us this first time?
Was it just to pay for the sins of mankind?

Never thought I would see the day that Christians would be asking this question.

I grew up in a time when Non-church goers knew the answer.

Today the world has basically lost touch with God and what is in His Word.

The work Our LORD DID was so we could be saved ! The main reason was He wanted a family !

Eph_1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Heb_12:10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Eph_1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Eph_1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
Php_2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Rev_4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

The work our LORD did was so He could make us NEW CREATURES!

2Co_5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Gal_6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

The question is ? Why did GOD create this planet and mankind!
After all He saw all that would take place !

And HE hates sin ! It only took one sin to destroy this planets all the heavens we see and everything on this planet ! Nothing here CAN BE SAVED! The wages of sin is still death ! He died that our sins would not be held against us and that He could make us brand New Creatures !

Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

God plan from the beginning was to have children , just like our LORD !

The question would be ? why did not God just make us from the beginning like the LORD JESUS ? and not have to suffer these almost 6000 years and not counting all the suffering and evil since the earth was created ?

Because we had to tested and tried and have the perfect example and He had too reveal how much He loved us ! Which He revealed though JESUS CHRIST our LORD and Savior !
It ok if you disagree this is the way I see it !

Never thought I would see the day that Christians would be asking this question.

I grew up in a time when Non-church goers knew the answer.

Today the world has basically lost touch with God and what is in His Word.

But it is questions from eager seekers like this one who restore such a hope! I am so thankful for "basic" types of questions like this one because it provides a foundation for the word of God and truth to be spread.

God plan was a eternal plan! God did not just want Jesus to come and suffer and die on the Cross ! It was much deeper than that!
Sure it was part of the plan! But the plan was Much more !

the end results reveals the plan from the beginning ! God does not like destroying His creations ! God does not like rebellion in His kingdom 1 There never was rebellion until the fallen angels tried to take over this planet and mankind 1 But god saw All that ! The question would be Why would God allow all this rebellion and evil on the earth 1 what would He gain from allowing it ?

Because He saw it all and could have stopped it quickly !
He knew what was in satan heart and even which angels would re bell !

Agree with much of what is said here. God's purposes in sending Jesus are multifaceted. There are a couple of important themes that I have not seen mentioned yet. First, to glorify the father - which comes up again and again in John's Gospel. And second to redeem all of creation. See Romans 8 and Colossians 1 - Jesus reconciled everything to himself on the cross.

Also Jesus was sent to be our intercessor on God's behalf,
1 Tim 2:5 - " For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"
We pray to God now in Jesus Christ name. -Hebrews 8:6 -this is part of the New Covenant.
God replaced the sacrifices of the Levi priesthood with the ultimate sacrifice of His Son..
All these reasons mentioned lead to becoming a Spiritual member of God's family in His future Kingdom.
