Meet new Christians and guidance

Hi, I'm 19. I've been a Christian since I was born but now I want to become better and do the will of God. I need guidance because I'm at the age where I'm started to understand the world for myself. Constantly fighting the Christian side of me and the world side of me. So, I think this will help me so much. Any suggestions, thoughts ?? Thank you.

Hey, I know exactly what you mean. You feel lukewarm and want to do more work for Jesus. I'll tell you exactly what Jesus told me....to be with Him as much as you can. Yes Jesus wants you to do His will for each day, but you won't know what it is unless you listen to His voice. Take out the noise in your life and try to listen to Jesus. His voice is soft as He talks to you in spirit. You will realize how much goes on in your head and you never even noticed it. Pray to Jesus that you will be able to concentrate on Him and to only hear His voice. Remember that Jesus is alive and wants to have a relationship with you through The Holy Spirit. He will guide your path.

Child I'm 53 yrs old and I wasted most of my youth in drugs and alcohol until I was 28.Make no mistake about it the things of this world world will tarnish but nothing can replace the joy and longevity of The things of God ,The next time some one looks at you and says "you serve God ?" Look em in the eye and say "you mean you don't ? " ..may The Lord bless and keep you as you start you're adult journey....Rev

But... Jesus' words do not apply only to the naturally rich, for his disciples were certainly not rich. They did not understand yet, but they would...for the Holy Ghost would be in them and "with God all things are possible".

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." John 14:16-17

Do we trust Him?

You cannot be a christian from birth. It is a decision you have to make when you are old enough to comprehend the wages of sin or the gift of God. Have you had a personal experience with Christ? Have you repented of sin and surrendered your heart and life to Him? In order to recieve eternal life, You must be born again. Have you?

Thank you, I'm taking everything everyone has said into consideration and make sure that I try to use these suggestions in my life. I'm a born again christian but I'm in college now and feel like I'm straying from God.

What revbrad is saying is correct.
No-one is born a Christian.
We are all born in sin.....Jesus died on the cross to save us and offers His gift of eternal salvation to all those who turn to Him in repentance.

If you don't know of a point in your life when you have been born again.....then you need to turn to Him now, just as you are and give your heart and life to Him.

Writing this to you ahrris, in love and concern that you may be unclear about matters of salvation.

To be 19 again.
Most know God from the experiences of others, stories told from others and doctrines interpreted by others. To go deep we must first know who we are in Christ, God's purpose in/for our lives , who God says he is vs who men say God is. Bible reading and studing historical literature ( The bible is a historical book ) . When we take the time to test things and read, we allow God's Holy Spirit to reveal things to us. Discernment becomes easier, because all the facts lay in front of you.

The more you know about God, you will understand what is expected from you as a Christian. When Deception comes to your door you will know.

Constantly fighting the Christian side of me and the world side of me.

Study Holiness. There would never be any confusion on what is acceptable or not. It must be God's standards of holiness.

1 John 3:6-10

No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother

Spend time in God's presence, read, read, read a lot, give him the worship and praise he deserves daily.
