Revival in America

You cannot substitute gimmicks for revival. In fact, if one wants to kill a revival just let man take over.
I have been blessed to be in a place that has been in revival for over a decade. God moves in ways there that simply take my breath away and the number who have come to Christ is mind-blowing. It is not however about the huge numbers, it is not about the miracles, it is about God having His way in the hearts of His people.

How is revival measured? I doubt that genuine revival can be measured in numbers. Who knows the heart of man, only the Lord knows. I think at the end of the sermon, when the alter call is given we should ask for christians to rededicate themself, that's revivial. That's only my opinion. Blessings

i think we agree on something here farout, revival does need to start in the church building. with true teachings of christ to the people that are already going to the church building. wouldnt that just be great. if the truth of christ was truly brought out in churches.

ushalk: Hey, that's great. Let me try once more, ok? Revival could and ha been dome in tents, on the fair grounds bleachers, and Ray Comfort does street preaching. There are mant street preachers. The biggest issue are tthese that preach living what they are talking !

These preachers that make millions at their false teaching, healing ministry and they use well "preplaned shows" so those who are really in need of healing, leave the service mad at God, and hurting more that when they came. There are those who get rev. Oprah to give them her blessing, by going on Tv and are in the front row with the camera is focused a lot of times in the service. That is as far as any thing close to genuine revival. It's all garbage, and it sure in not truth or good news.

If the examples in the Bible are anything to go by , genuine revival will not start in the religious institutions of man. God will choose the voice of one crying out in the wilderness to prepare the way of the Lord. The Lord will come to those outside of the religious institutions and they will be too busy doing what they do to notice.

But the churches are necessary they are like buckets to catch all the fish. If there are 1000 saved in one day they need to go somewhere and they will distribute themselves amongst the churches.

exactly my point brother. thank you though.

As far as I can tell God is beginning to breath new life back in to the church body .when I hear ministers begin to preach the "love of God and His forgiveness and willingness to accept us as His own .tells me it's revival time by any definition.. We are seeking the Holy spirit rekindling old flames.revving old embers .A new breath of life a new look at the fathers business and what our part of it is ...God is on the move make no mistakes about it Revival has begun in the Land and yes we will be persecuted and we will endure it for the sake of the cross .... We are in good company when we do...Rev

this thread in context was to a national revival.

personal revival is certainly a good thing, and one can have personal revival daily by cherishing the gospel.

But in context of a national revival, the only happen when under persecution. If you want a look at modern revival, look to China, Africa, and many more third world and persecuted areas and you'll see national revival. I talked to a missionary to Africa one time and he told me about a young man there who rode to church on a skate board, but he lay on the skate board on his belly, because he had no feet. He asked the young man why he had no feet and the man said that Muslim members of his own family, cut off his feet in response to (Ephesians 6:14-15) "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; {15} And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;" They said that with no feet he could not spread his lies. but as soon as he was physically able, he began paddling down the street on his skate board, still preaching the gospel of peace... That is the type of persecution i believe the american church will face in the near future, and it will be necessary for a national revival.

(Matthew 5:10-12) " Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. {11} Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. {12} Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."

Yes the white horse (gospel) Rev 6:2 is followed by the red horse (war, persecution) Rev 6:4.
Can one have national revival without personal revival? A big fire always starts with a small flame. The drier the wood (the more barren and spiritually dry the area), the more easier and faster it will burn. The ingredients for national revival I believe are a) a flame, b) the right environment (dry wood). The environment does not have to be persecution, it can be financial or material hardship, eg financial crisis in Europe is leading many to turn back to God.

id say no, how can i die for the cause of Christ if i wont first live for it?

Anytime that there was a revival in the Bible it started out with one man standing honorably for god.

there are so many issues with the american churches today that i feel there is no revival possible without a complete reset of our entire society. and i mean that.

the churches are supposed to be by-products of the individual believer's walk with Christ.
when we understand this concept, we will start to see everything differently.
communities of believers should be as ad-hoc as the blowing of the wind. and by wind i mean Spirit.

this is my opinion, not prophecy.
Anytime that there was a revival in the Bible it started out with one man standing honorably for god.
and some of them were nearly hung for charges of treason!
are the conspiracy theorists not among them today?
lets start with the clergy response teams, who probably have a senior elder in your church today.

furthermore let me be more bold and say that my observation of how God is working inside churches today, He is obligated to work within them for the sake of the sheep who believe that the church they go to is a church.

meaning He can't explain to them that the pastor isn't even saved, until they can handle the responsibility of knowing that information.
