Love the Brethren a New Commandment

John 13
31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Matthew 25

Jesus said how you love my brethren is how you love me. You must choose who you will serve, self or Jesus. Also we are to love the world to Jesus too!

When you get up in the morning ask God to help you help someone today. You will be shocked at how good it will make you feel.

There is no 11th commandment added to the 10.

we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

we see these 2 commandments also in:
John 6:47
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.

John 3:10-16
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

There are 2 commandments.
1: Believe in Jesus
and the new commandment Jesus added is:

1 Jn 2:8; On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining.
1Jn 2:9 The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now.
1Jn 2:10 The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him.

2 Jn 1:5; Now I ask you, lady, not as though I were writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another.

Call it new, call it old, either way they mean the same thing.

By the way, how do we love our neighbor?
Rom 13:8; Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
Rom 13:9; For this, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."
Rom 13:10; Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Mat 22:36; "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?"
Mat 22:37; And He said to him, " 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.'
Mat 22:38; "This is the great and foremost commandment.
Mat 22:39; "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'
Mat 22:40; "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

Jesus said loving God and loving your neighbor were required.
So there is at least a third commandment.

1 Jn 4:21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

The "11th commandment" was really just the 10 commandments rolled up into one.

Lev 19:18; 'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD.

Indeed, God has never changed and His Word has never changed. It is only a new commandment to those to whom it is newly given or who accept it anew. God cannot change, but men can.

Judah, the fourth son of Leah and Jacob did not love Joseph when he with his other brothers sold Joseph into slavery. Call it new, call it old, either way they mean the same thing.

It was new when Jesus said it. It was new compared to the old commands to love God and love neighbor as yourself. When the book of 1 John was written, about 95–110 AD... it was old .

In the old, people loved others as they loved themselves.. they judged others as they would judge themselves. They lived by eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth, and Jews still do today to an extent. But in the new, people are to love others as Christ loves them, and judge others as Christ judges (or doesn't judge) them. If we love others as we love ourselves.. our love can only be finite.. we even do not love ourselves that much.. many of us don't even treat our bodies properly.. but Christ's love is unconditional and infinite. Loving others as ourselves is measured conditional love... loving others as Christ loves them.. is unmeasured unconditional love.. the kind that would go the extra mile or turn the other cheek. Then we have the start of the church age... what was "love thy neighbor" in the Israelite nation.. became "love your brother" in the church. The church is like spiritual Israel, and we look forward to the Heavenly Jerusalem.
