Funny that you should write this up. I was just going to do something similar.
I feel that some people are here just to preach and not discuss. A forum is a place to gather and discuss and reason. This can only be done with respect. There is one post that was directed at me, which I feel the member (although new) was treating me as though I were an idiot. This is not how Jesus would teach, but the way of the Pharisees.

How can one body attack itself? We should be rationally and patiently engage each other with scripture.

Yes, very sadly, I have to say I agree

Let us all pray and seek the Lord before responding to threads here on Talk Jesus
That we write only as led by the Lord and in love
Let us seek to glorify the Lord and honour Him in all that we write,

Even disagreeing with a 'point' can be done gently and softly, without resorting to name calling, self righteousness and sarcasm

This site reaches out to the world.....lets reach out with Jesus that souls are drawn to Him
Don't lets scare people away by contention.

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

We just all keep Jesus and His glory as the main focus
And encourage one another in the things of the Lord
And pray for Chad and his team as they run the site with such devotion

This was not meant to discourage new members or old members. It was done more to make people aware of their posts and how they may come across to others.
Posts like this are even for me. We all need reminders sometimes and most of us are probably oblivious that our posts are conveying this feeling. Fragrant Grace has made great points and brought up great scripture. She has put into words my exact feelings.

It is unfortunate. God has called us to love one another. 1 Cor 13 says if we speak all knowledge without love, we are just making noise.
Yet, I am likely one of the worst offenders. Don't get me wrong, I love many people. I have many friends and I am pretty involved in my church.
I pray with people, I talk with people. I have helped people move, I have help paint their houses, I have mowed their yards, I change flat tires for strangers on the freeway.
Perhaps that will be taken as bragging, I hope not, because I have nothing to brag about. I pass up many opportunities and could be doing a lot more.
The reason I say these things is to share my heart.

A well known atheist ( Ellen Johnson ) who was actually quoting another atheist who is now passed away once said "You must really hate someone in a special way, if you know they are going to hell for eternity and you don't tell them how to keep from going there". An atheist said that. Now of course she doesn't believe in God, Jesus, heaven, hell or any of that, but she understands why some Christians evangelize. Perhaps I don't always say things in the most loving way (I'm working on it, I pray about it) but some of us feel that if we can keep someone from going to hell, that is showing them love.

Jas 5:20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

During the time of Jesus's ministry, it was much the same. I think perhaps its another sign that Jesus is coming again soon.

Forgive them, for they know not what they do. What one of us hasnt let our ego get the better of us at some time. Perhaps there is a Saul of Tarsus amoung the pharisees.

Unfortunately, people too often have their own agendas... even among people who supposedly have met the Lord. The agenda of Jesus was never His own, but rather that of His Father. If somehow, each of us here can reach out to God and to one another with the purpose of furthering the Father's purpose, we will do better. When we have already decided that we know all of God's answers as well as He does... or we act as if we do...???

I understand your concern but I'd like to ask you, if you have repetitive issues with the same members or any for that matter, why have you not used the report post feature? It's there for everyone to use. It helps me and moderators to prune out trouble makers.

Here's a reminder for everyone including moderators and myself too:

You will be held accountable for every word spoken.

Another reminder:

I do not control people's behaviors and beliefs. Use the report post tool instead of joining the argument or complaining about this community as a whole over a few causing the problems. That's unacceptable to judge the community when I and the mods put a lot of work into this. You have no idea.

Last reminder:

Any unbiblical teaching here will result in that member getting banned after a fair warning and friendly responses with biblical correction within the particular threads.

Universalism is not welcomed here either at all. If you believe it without a doubt there's other forums you can join for that.

This site is 100% Jesus,100% holy bible without the artificial ingredients and man made gibberish.

If I may:
I love this place, I love the people here. That being said, it is almost inevitable to have a few sparks fly as iron sharpens iron.
As believers we should grow in maturity to the point where we do not have to agree on everything with everyone. We should speak the truth but always in love.
If someone disagrees with you or I, and it is not a salvation issue, then being right at any cost may not be worth the price.

Pro 18:19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

Perhaps we should all try to give more grace than we ourselves personal need. In my case that is plenty.
Lastly, you or I may not always be here for ourselves. Sometimes the Lord puts you in a place to minister to another, that alone makes any inconvenience worth it.

If you don't debate you will not learn the truth will you.
Or it's like ok i will just take your word for it, as the truth. and some are just happy with that as they have no profound interest in the facts.
I was a C of E then a Methodist then Lutheran and believed all they said but found out they are so full of slandering, it's just a sad joke and they will not listen even if you show them. but as a Christian one must try your best.
Sure there will be contention but if it is not hostile or down right straight out abusive their is not a problem is there. as we see in life the same but one is directed to truth and facts in love for others being a christian and can swallow it in our walk. we live in hope but the people don't just come around, but in time they may, if they are true to themselves.

It is good for each and every one of us to be reminded if they are not manifesting the fruits of the Spirit (the character of Christ), you did nothing wrong my friend.

I am sorry we have not achieved the level of maturity you have. Forgive us where we have failed you. Most of those who post here have serious hurts, illness's and emotional issues. Some are not christians, some are so hurt that they that all they can do is be critical and make harsh judgements, and threaten the form to leave. I am not a moderator, but I can see that you are a hurting lady that needs ministering too rather than trying to reach out to be a ministering servant. Perhaps if you could share where you are hurting we might be able to undergerd you in prayer and encourage you with Scripture. By leaving you only hurt yourself, why not reconsider?
