Obsessive thoughts about people

Member
Hi I was wondering if my spiritual brothers and sisters would be able to pray for a problem I've been struggling with for about a decade, that is, I get obsessed with people even strangers I see. Basically that's it. There's some kind of mind-peace deficit here. I want to start meditating on God and his word rather than meditating and obsessing over someone or people. Thanks a lot, this is distressing, its hard to explain but it upsets my day to day living, and I've struggled with social avoidance for years, so I'd really like to get rid of it, but have realized I can't do it in my own strength, or if it does disappear, it comes back at a later date, unfortunately. God bless you all.

God is like the vine dresser, attending to His garden. He comes around
and inspects us, seeing if we are producing good fruit, and if we have fallen
into the mud or look sick, He picks us up, brushes us off, and puts us higher up into the sunlight, that we may keep going in our process to bear good fruit.
You are right indeed, without God, we have no strength. But in Him, anything is possible with Christ.

Mark 9:23

Father, I pray that nzdaughter has been seen by you, and I pray that
she feels your strength, your breath being given into her to go on,
and your wingsto help her soar above her thoughts. Please help
our sister in Christ to be able to have a life free from the shackles of
her mind.

In JESUS name!

Amen. :)

Praying for deliverance from this for you, nzdaughter.

I would recommend learning some scriptural songs &/or songs about God's character well enough to sing them mentally when ever this starts to happen.

Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

I will be lifting you up in prayer and believing that God is performing a miracle for you!

God bless you!

Thank you so much everyone, it is lovely of you to pray for me - and for something that seems somewhat strange, lol - but which has been such a dibilitating problem for MUCH too long...

Praise the Lord - there has been a noticable definite improvement this last week or two with obsessions!

I've lately had attacks with several NEW obsessions about a variety of people, obsessions of which I've never had before, lol! But Hallelujian - they vanished as quickly (relatively speaking) as they came!

The bondage of this problem can be bad in terms of relating to others in a real way, and being grounded, and it has affected me at work before. But now its breaking, I can feel it. I can't desscribe details of what line of thinking I have when I become obsessed with someone else, but its a bad thing - kind of like confusion, distraction, my mind travels, I lose concentration on what I'm doing (rather bad if its important), its like dominance over my mind.

I'm doing bible studies at the moment once a week and have noticed that I'm learning more about God and focusing more on Him, so I'm practicing to keep my mind stayed on Him, which will help me with peace.

Thank you everyone! I believe in what God is doing for me right now with this problem, thank you Father for watching over me in Jesus' mighty name.

Thank you Lord for renewing my mind! I stand by your promises -and your permanence- in faith, that this problem never returns at the worst of times. Hallelujiah! In Jesus' mighty name.

blessing to you nzdaughter! Many wonderful people here, have said many wonderful things to you! Picture yourself in the front row of a movie house, there is a big white screen as you have seen many times. A movie starts,it shows us dark things, but next to you in your seat is a red warning button,it begins to flash, taking your eyes off the screen to give its proper attention.

You look at it,then back to the screen go your eyes, now you see this! you see yourself overcoming in Jesus!! YAY!! Rom 8:37-39 Good things!! ah much better! you notice through your side vision the red light is off. All is well!

This my dear sister in Christ is our thoughts, when they come,it is no sin,the sin is how long we entertain them! If the screen is dark to long, and we do not hit the red button from Jesus, we become part of that which we entertain. AS AA said Phil 4:8-9! This is what we need to see,so we can overcome those dark screens that come up like a commercial ever so often.

We decide, and from what we decide we reap what our ears and eyes have sown.( mark 4:24) For it is not only our eyes that can sin,our ears can to,we hang with friends who always talk bad about someone, hang around them long enough and you to will do the same!

Whatever we feed on, is what we become. We feed on love, and Jesus and giving grace and mercy to others,we become this,no red button needed here!! When we feed on anger, hurt,we recieve this, and if we recieve this long enough, why dear Lord,we give this to others as well.Being a poor testimony for our Jesus. Will we make mistakes in this?? sure we will!! BUT!! Praise God we learn from them! I can be wrong, and say I am sorry! I can repent to others!! When you yourself see this as not a weakness but a strength, and can overcome in these areas!! THEN!! Others will look to you,and seek Jesus in you! Yes and YOUR JOY!! will indeed be made full,( john 10:10)Because you my dear sister are full of Jesus!! amen!

started again due to my sinning

Hi everyone sorry about this but I have to make a confession: I've been depressed and had a 'mental breakdown' for about a month, due to mental overload from too much work-studying, heartbreak, etc... Then I got through it - but then I started reading astrology books again, when I know I shouldn't.

Now I need prayer for fixations/obsessions about people which have started up again - due a lot to my knowledge of astrology which I studied for 19 years which seem to haunt me, as well as mental confusion. It is extremely embarrassing and I can't relate to people normally anymore.

I'm so sorry, sorry Lord please forgive me, and please help cleanse my mind blockage so that I focus only on you in Jesus' name...

Thanks everybody for your time.

Sister nzdaughter, do you know how many hills we climb in growing in our Jesus? We reach one hill,to us it is a mountain! Yet we look from this hill, or mountain to us,we are on,and we see something!! We are not done.

We have reached a place of rest for the time being is all. A time to gather our wits about us,and set sail for the next hill we see,but there is something intersting in this!! We could never have seen the next hill until we overcame the first one!! Overcoming!!

A believer never stops in doing this. We can't! Just for the fun of it,please looks at all of these scriptures found in the very last book of the Bible! Rev 2:7,11,17,26 rev 3:5,12!,verse 21! Then even towards the very end as well. Rev 21:7 Why?? Perhaps because as I have found out in my life, the closer we are to the end,the harder it can become!

The enemy does not stop,he does not give up,even though, that is all he wants us to do! I said all of this to tell you this. A persons mind is determined by his or her actions, not there memory of them.

We do, what we truly believe. Matters not who wants to judge any of us! Matters not what people may think either! What matters is what each one of us believes! And how we do believe,is how we act.

We have much to clean in our minds,we have subject our mind to very harmful things along our way. The enemy is quick to plant thoughts of being so worthless,so alone,so isolated from another. But that is what the Body of Christ here is for! To present you,and each one of us HOPE!! A opportunity( a God like HOPE!! or assurance!) to clean the blackboard of all the enemy wants to keep in our memory, and renew our minds by the only weapon we have,God's Word!

Sometimes we fail, and go back to things we know we should not,but Jesus keeps his arms open to us,not closed! While many look to judge, the nature of God is such that all he wants us to ever do,is follow his very nature.LOVE! Sister,as you start on your next hill, there is grace and mercy as well for you! This we find we all need.

And what is it we learn as we continue in Christ to our next hill or mountain? That God is not looking for perfect people, only faithful ones. And now!! With this in mind, you can do this! Forgiveness is what we give to others, because we all have great need of it!

The Body of Christ is to learn to keep its arms open as well, for if one is lost, how can they be found, unless we all are willing to put out our hands to help? And encourage and help that sheep become new again unto itself? A little deeper then I wanted to get!! But I felt led from Jesus in me,to relate this to you.

Jesus is not dead as many suppose!! He is alive, and he is alive unto us his bride. You my sister are part of this bride,if you will only be faithful in little,God will be faithful in much to us!!( luke 16:10) We love you sister!! And our prayers are working with yours for each of us!

We cannot do without another because in Jesus we are to always love one another!! Blessing to you,and our prayers are with you, fear not!! YOU cannot be forsaken!! here please read this, and take comfort!!Hebrews 6:10-18! an this. Hebrews 12:7-13 Jesus loves you!!And so do we in him!! amen!

Hi I'm on medication now for obsessions and sadness, but I sometimes feel my obsessions come back. Depression is gone. Please pray I get rid of obsessions. I get obsessed with people or aspects of people, its hard to explain lol. Sounds weird, but yeah, that pretty much sums me up, makes me uncomfortable, unable to relate to people, or communicate My Lord Jesus to people. Thanks a lot!

Focusing on the poor, sick and hopeless was Christ's obsession to show the world that his supernatural love for people is far greater than human love - or Satan's wrong or misleading kind of love that involves those on-and-off sometimes carnal thoughts. It's a learning continuous life experience to know the difference between countless wrongs about sin and countless rights about our Jesus Christ. Christ's healing is always constant and always fighting against the power of Satan's detrimentally cruel sin from weakening our Christian faithful hearts. I believe Satan's hunger for God's giftedness to know our future, including his own future defeat when Jesus returns in the future, is tremendously desperate for such God's supernatural power - which unfortunately, he cannot undo the future by turning back the clock, or reverse time to avoid the future coming of our victorious Jesus Christ.
May Christ's victory rule our Christian lives including those who are yet to become Christians from a non-Christian background, before the coming of Jesus.

I suffer from (pure o) OCD, so I can sympathize with how distressing certain obsessive and intrusive thoughts can be. The key I've found, is not trying to fight them when they come into your mind. No matter how provoking they're, just work on accepting them and not having an emotional reaction. This is easier said than done of course, but entirely possible. You see- when a person reacts angrily or worried about the thoughts, it sends a message to your subconscious brain that ''this is a big deal!'' and so the thought will continue appearing until they're no longer worrisome.
