Correction & Revival Badly Needed

Some Christians and preachers are so brainwashed by seductive
doctrines of demons, that they no longer can tolerate the correction
from the Lord. Many preachers now openly preach that unless a message
of correction is "positive" (tickles their... ears), it is not of God. Let
me tell you, God corrects and "scourges" every son he loves, so if you
have swallowed that phony, "God's correction is only "positive," light
and fluffy gospel stuff," you have been deceived.

However, I am not advocating a religion of floggings either, nor the reign of a critical spirit. This sort of correction must be done in love and according to the word of God. The person who clearly discerns the dangers that many Christians are in and decides not to warn them, is like watching a house full of children slowly go up in flames, without attempting a rescue or even yelling "fire." The least that I will do, is sound the warning.

If we can take the parable of the 10 virgins as a warning, Christ portrayed half of the 'church' as being too sleepy to realize they themselves are in imminent danger ...HALF! Are these the ones crying PEACE, only because they want the Preacher in the street to shut-up and stop hollering "FIRE" because He is disturbing their sleep? Oh they do not deny that destruction is coming...they just think it cannot come to themselves, and they arnt too concerned about it coming to their neighbor...they just protest how loud and what manner the Preacher is saying it, its simply not "nice" to disturb people that-away....you know?


It was Martin Luther who said: “If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are attacking at that moment, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the solider is proved, and to be steady on all battlefields besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.”

I submit that reformer knew what he was talking about.

Having been born and raised in the Lutheran religion, I look back and I'm thankful that so much of Martin Luther's teaching was a part of my childhood. He himself would probably not be pleased that a 'religion' was formed on his theology; makes you wonder.

Non-denom now (made my Mom crazy, God rest her soul) and YES, the parables do give pause to stop about half of the church.....

I remember when I was first saved about twenty years ago and reading, "When the Son of Man returns to the earth, will He find faith." As a new born believer and twenty years ago, I was perplexed! Now, it makes sense.

Our schools and culture to knock down every faith but Christianity it seems. You might hear a lot of talk about "God" but not about Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Anointed One. Many Christians even think that the God of Muslim is the same God as the Christian one.

Sigh.

There are serious consequences for so-called believers who refuse to sound the alarm: "When I say to a wicked man, 'You will surely die' and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his wicked ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin and I will hold you accountable for his blood. (Ez 3:18)

I think its important to keep things in balance with scripture. I agree that many preachers are falling into the trap of political correctness and paying more attention to what people want to hear verses what they NEED to hear. Let's not forget though the HEART of the Father is a heart of love that does desire relationship. Remember the prodigal son? Or what about the adulteress who was about to be stoned? Jesus came to her rescue BEFORE she repented. It was his mercy that braught her to his feet. Granted, its important to keep it real and not water down the truth about sin and its consequences but its important to not portray God as being an angry and vengful being. If He was that bent on vengence, He wouldn't have jumped in the line of fire for us by going to the cross. The word "gospel" means "good news". I think we can keep it that way when we speak of Jesus and still not compromise the truth about the wages of sin.

Its truthful that a lot of believers, if not most hesitate to sternly correct another backslidden, wicked lost soul. As Coconut said, must be done in love but truthfully without holding back.

Will we stand courageously and compassionately on behalf of the lost and be true disciples? Let us ask ourselves this question.

I was reading Spurgeon on this very subject from His sermon Rebuke, Reproof & Correction. This is an extract:

The Word of God is very plain as to the duty of rebuking sin, although, from the neglect into which the work has fallen, one might have imagined that it was left optional, or allowed, rather than commanded.

It is a most weighty observation that, according to God’s law, silence concerning sin is consent to it.

"And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity" (Leviticus 5:1). Trapp has pithily said, "By ill silence to leave men in sin is as bad as by ill speech to draw them to sin. Not to do good, saith our Saviour, is to do evil, and not to save is to destroy"....

To leave others in their sins unreproved is to be "partakers of other men’s sins."

Paul teaches us this when he writes, "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them"—as much as to say, if you do not reprove them, you have fellowship with them.
If I see a thief breaking into a house, and give no alarm, am I not, by my silence, an accessory to the act?
Without the aid of my silence the burglar could not perpetrate the robbery; if I lend him that assistance, am I not, morally, his accomplice?

The same holds good in all cases; but we are not left merely to infer the fact, for the Lord has told us by the mouth of his prophet Ezekiel, "If thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand."

The ruin and sin of others we shall surely partake in if they perish through want of our admonition. Eli must break his neck for very grief when his sons are cut off in their sin; it was not meet that he should outlive those whom he had not endeavored to preserve from ruin by timely rebuke: had he made their ears to tingle with his upbraidings, his ears might never have tingled with the news of the terrible judgments of God.

How few Christians will be able to say with Paul, "I am pure from the blood of all men"?—none of us can be in that happy case if we neglect the duty of warning our neighbours for their good.

I have found that fervent prayer in faith with nothing wavering and petitioning God on the offenders behalf and reminding God of his love for his creation and thanking him for the promises concerning them works.

I never had much success playing the Holy Spirit.
Proverbs 21:1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.
Proverbs 16:9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
Proverbs 20:24 A man’s steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way?
Proverbs 16:1 To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the reply of the tongue.
Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

It works way better on unbelievers though.With believers it usually takes prayer and fasting.
Love never fails...

Its not about us playing the Holy Spirit's role, its about the Spirit being free to use us when He wills. I had the high honor and privilege of leading my son to Christ before he died. I also have the high honor and privilege of being used by the Spirit to influence others in a Twelve Step program I'm part of. Without the Spirit working in my life none of that would be happening.

Very excellent post SLE, and I agree completely and add that our words are far more effective when they are evidenced by appropriate actions and character. This is when I think our words are seasoned and in season.
