So Jesus said do not get divorced except for adultery. If for instance my wife divorced me for "not being in love anymore" and then meets a guy and sleeps with him, wouldn't that confirm my divorce.

The other question. John the baptist gets onto herodias for being with Herod and said she is Phillips wife, wouldn't after she had sex with Herod confirm her divorce to Phillip??

There is much to be said about this topic and I will offer you my understanding. Accept it or reject it is up to you.

There are no grounds for divorce once one is married and the marriage has been consummated. The "except it be for fornication" clause that Jesus spoke of pertained to the state of the marriage before the man and his wife had sex. Consider Joseph and Mary. They were married but had not consummated the marriage and therefore being a 'just' man he was willing to put her away privately when she was found with child.

Jesus has every right to call of the wedding with his believers too if they be found to be fornicating before the consummation which is coming at the marriage supper of the Lamb. 1 Cor 3 promises that God will destroy those who defile the temple and 1 Cor 6 explains that fornication is a sin against the temple (body). Don't fornicate, please, whatever you do.

May we all be found blameless and spotless in that day.

Also, that would be punishing the innocent spouse, which I don't believe Jesus would do. Even Paul stated that each man who can't control himself should take a wife (or husband).

I already met a christian woman and we have plans to get married next summer, and i'm really looking forward to it.

Marriage and divorce.

First, please title your threads so others can at least get a clue to what they are about. If any answers are given here, then others can search and find them.

Such as: Marriage-Divorce this does not make sense.

and if anyone is really interested, I'll break down exactly what Jesus said about divorce as this is greatly misunderstood, and many put in bondage because of it.

I'm convinced that not every marriage is "made in heaven". Many people who enter into marital relationships do so with hard hearts, hearts that are not locked into saving relationships with the Lord and are not interested in such a relationship (see Mt 19:8).

When someone has sex outside of their marriage, they have not caused the innocent party to become divorced, if that is what you are implying. It simply wasn't lawful, under the Mosaic Law for Herod to have married his brothers wife.

I am assuming that you are a gentile believer and have never been under the law. These things do not apply to you and the wife who has divorced you. What does apply is 1 Corinthians 7. Your wife divorced you and you are not under any obligation to her. As far as remarrying goes, your supposed to try to dedicate your life to Christ outside of having a wife and if you find you cannot contain yourself sexually then you should marry. It is better for you to marry someone then to fall into fornicative practices.
