Tim Tebow and John 3:16.

Interesting read. God is sovereign and can make numbers say whatever he wants. We need to be careful not to read into what God is doing though. We are told that in the end times or last days that God is going to give people who haven't accepted his true gospel over to a lie that they should believe it.

<< 2 Thessalonians 2 >>
King James Version
1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Take careful note of that last verse. To believe the truth is to have no pleasure in unrighteousness. The lie is already abounding and those who are to be damned are believing. The Antichrist, whom they will believe, is coming. The call has gone out, "Awake to righteousness and sin not that you be not deceived with them that continue in sin." Those who God is going to judge on the earth with great tribulation are taking their places. For every truth of God there is an equal and opposite lie covering the truth. The righteous see and the unrighteous are blind.

One must ask. Which message is Tim Tebow sending and to whom? Is he one crying in the wilderness make straight the paths of the Lord? Bring forth fruit meet for repentance? Is he one who is bringing the message "come as you are, God accepts all who come to him regardless of how you come as long as it is through the blood of Christ, no repentance from dead works of sin required."

Only one message is the truth.

May the Lord God of Heaven and Earth make of you whatever vessel it is that pleases him.

Agreed, but you have to remember that it's not Tebow that is saying or making the associations to 316. It's the media, and other folks who are doing it. As far as I know nobody has asked him what he believes with the statistical references to 316. What I do know from listening to his interviews is that he is a sincere young man, who has unashamed love of Christ, and also is not afraid to share it. We need more people who are willing to share with others that love and acknowledgement of Christ Jesus as ones Savior.

Agreed. But equally as important is to share with others that in order for him to be ones savior he must be their Lord.

I love Tebow. I'm a STEELERS fan and I wish him all the success in life and the NFL.

The 316 stuff ? I take it with a grain of salt. What if it were 666 , would everyone think he was a wolf in sheeps clothing ?

I think this is all just God's devine way of reminding everyone that He's still in control. :hourglass:
