Today at church, they told us to spread the gospel to everyone who is not saved. I know as christian we need to be doing this everyday. He was telling us to talk to someone who might need help. If it is your time, your energy , or your money. He also tell us not to give what you have extra because God gave his only begotten Son to die for us on the cross. This is not really easy but God will be with us if we truly believe in Him.

Last sermon he told us that this is a new year so we need to do it right by praying to our Maker for help. If we follow God then he will transform us as well. We will be truly discipline and have Godly wisdom from Him.

When you are trying to bring someone to know Christ it is not just a one day thing. One needs to continue to invest in him and spending time with him. It even might be going to his house and picking him up or inviting him for dinner. When he see that you live like you preach then he know you are a true christian. Our pastor also told us that people at church are not always in a positive mood. We are only human.( We have Christ for those who believe in Him.)

dont just assume you know what i am saying here. try to put yourself in someone elses shoes.
i was homeless for 6 years straight. no one stopped once and asked if i was cold or hungry. see lots of people from churches standing in front of wal-mart and on street corners asking for change and passing out pamplets. when i started going to church no one seemed to want to have anything to do with me. and when i put all my change in the collection plate the row infront of me turned and sneered as if i was doing wrong and should be ashamed of myself. according to what jesus said, i gave more than they did. in corinthians it says love seeks not its own. dont go to church to be around "friends" and have a "good time" only. go and look for the person who sits by themselves. who is maybe lonely. who has no friends. dont just offer them a fake or empty friendship either. they can tell. and maybe they have mental disorders and are different, but they still need love. which sometimes, if you can, is meeting needs or just being a friend.
there are people in and out of the church that need the Jesus in others that simply slips thru the cracks.
what i am saying? yeah being an evagalist is a good thing, God has used me for it some. but it seems like some major points of intrest TO GOD in scripture thats not happening.

I have a question for you guys (so sorry, I can't post a new thread yet because of the low number of posts).

Here are two different ministries that I want to compare:

Joyce Meyer - "Joyce Meyer Ministries"

John Piper - "Desiring God"

Questions:

For you, as a person, would you respect a ministry more if it has no name attached on it? Or you wouldn't care?

What if the name is not popular? How would you feel?

In the case of John Piper, do you respect a ministry more if there is no name attached with it?

Your thoughts please. (This is a sincere question because we might have different opinions on this and I am going to make a decision that requires different opinions of people.)

Twas me I would put no importance on a name or way. I would not even be concerned with comparison of any to another. That is not the point. There are many ways and many interpretations by men. Most a result of some hidden self serving desire.

I have learned to accept spiritual guidance from God. And to view all of the churches with suspicion. To test all they say and to run to God for answers.

Such as the original post, do not give your extra, is this a misprint in type or did the preacher say this......if so what is the motive, to give your extra to him?? Did I read it wrong? I dunno but due to the teachings of Christ I instantly dismissed it.

Also listen to what Eddieb said. You can learn more from his true life experience than listening to others or the comparison of untruths. What he says is the truth of most ways, the modern way, most go to church for their own gratification in some way. It is like the country club, get all dressed in fine clothes, and pay your dues, and how dare some poor bum come into their church. How dare him.
Not all are called to preach the Gospel, we are to just live as God wishes us to, and if you see the cold person asking for a bit of help sitting off to one side at Walmart, go say Hi. Might be a kind thing to go buy them a coat, and take them into the store and buy them something to eat.

Spiritual guidance comes from God, not men and churches. Preaching of the Gospel is important, and commanded by God, and has great purpose, but it all is done and conducted by men, so it is up to us to look to God for true guidance.

First off, I want to praise God for the grace He gave you to come to Him despite the cruelty of the people around you. Christians should never look down on others, as if we're something, when we're nothing but vessels in the Potters hands.

Anyway, I agree with your points, particularly that there is more to the body Of Christ than just preaching the word. Not all of us have the same calling and I am convinced mine is not to be an evangelist, as God is working out other plans through me.

God bless!
