Ok, I am not currently in a storm, but I know that there will be one in my life eventually. I have had a few, and they are never fun. There are winds of the enemy, what you thought had rooted in your life, is suddenly uprooted and you don’t know which way is up. When things get rough, I have to remember to turn to Jesus in prayer, asking Him for guidance. He has assured me that He won’t ever leave me. I may not always feel Him around me, But I do know that He is there, guiding me and leading me towards life.

The storm that I just recently came out of was rough (as they always are). My eyes weren’t on Jesus, and I found myself to be getting bored with worship, bored with prayer, and just bored with life. I didn’t dare stop going to church though. I knew that going to church was where life was, where I was going to get the strength to keep going, to keep my head up and keep fighting for life. I was fighting against the lies that the enemy was whispering to me, I knew that my mom would want me to keep fighting for my life, especially since she had cut her own short. The enemy kept telling me I should just end my life too, that I wouldn’t be missed, that it didn’t matter, but then friends of mine would tell me that I was such a light to them, that they were proud of what I was doing. Sometimes I just wanted to yell ‘If only you knew how I feel right now!’

I have to refocus my life, put my eyes back on Jesus, back on the One who knows and sees everything. The One that is the Author and Perfector of my life, and keep going. That storm wasn’t going to quiet itself, and the only way that it was going to be silent was if I put my faith back in the One who has the authority to quiet the seas.

It’s so easy to get distracted, to see the waves and wonder how you are ever going to survive, wonder why you are in this to begin with. But storms happen and its a simple fact of life when you have put your life on the Rock of Jesus. We get storms in our lives regularly, They are there to strengthen us, not to harm us. The most amazing thing about storms is that Jesus is always there, He won’t let us go through them alone. He will call us out of the boat, ask us to walk on the waves of life towards Him.

Amen Jenn well said.

1Pe 5:9-11 NKJV Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. (10) But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. (11) To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
