Does God cause sickness as a test?

Audrey until you provide atleast one of those scriptures that say I test my sheep from Jesus (who happened to be the one to heal) than your wasting your time..
..did you read my healing scriptures? i posted a few

well actually, no, I haven't seen anything posted by you other than a continuing barrage of questions against those who are humbly trying to help you. Forgive my asking, but why ask questions if you refuse the answer?

I am curious... do you not believe in God and the apostles of Jesus? Because it seems you are looking for words only from Jesus' mouth when the entire Bible is full of verses answering your question. Do you not believe in the teachings of James the apostle? Those words are straight from the heart of God, and thus, the heart of Jesus (Jesus is God fyi).

Obviously my comments and my efforts to answer your question are not appreciated and not welcome. I simply feel that every trial including sickness is an opportunity to grow closer to the Lord... But apparently that is only my opinion, and one that obviously hasn't been well received by this crowd. I am very sorry for wasting your precious time and I hope you can find people good enough to answer your question. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will humbly and graciously remove myself from your presence as it seems you don't care for any of my posts...

Good luck in your search and may the Lord bless you with the answer you are so desperately searching for.

In Christ's name,

God allows......

AudreyNicole:

The hang up is the "God Allows" Part... so that we can grow stronger.

That is the missing part here, and your interpretation.

There is not one scripture that supports that... Not one.

there are a lot of things that God has no hand in or part of.. God does not "Allow" or not "Allow" The thought being if God wanted He could put a stop to any sickness, when in fact we have a whole bunch of scriptures about resisting the devil, wearing the armor of God, and our faith in What God said and promised that makes us whole.

Paul's Thorn was a messenger from Satan, Paul quoted the OT... the people shall be thorns in your side, and pricks in your Eyes..

Bottom line, Paul went under his own power and mental ability and the devil kicked the slats from under him.... he stated so at the start as He was given a abundance of revelation..... Jesus said my grace is sufficient.. Sufficient means more than enough, not barley get by.

That the power of Christ.....(The Anointing..) would be strong For where he is weak, The Holy Spirit and the anointing is strong..

For I can do all things Through Christ (The anointing or Jesus the anointed one and his Anointing) that strengthen me.

Under our own strength, and intelligence, we are no match for any Messenger of Satan which stirred the people up against Paul.... As Paul said, he was under Reproach if you keep reading....but included everything Else the Holy Spirit overcomes.. for Greater is He that is in us then He that is in the World...

Test and Trials........

We will never get such a great opportunity to show God our trust and faith in his word as we have right now.... Living on Earth is where we earn rewards that are eternal...

It's not God that puts us through trials.... It's not God that allows anything.... It is what we do when things come our way God takes notice of.... This is why we count it all joy, that the power and God may be manifest, giving him Glory....

consider the flood, one man built a house on the rocks, the other in the sand... Both men heard the Word, but did different things as one took heed and the other did not... When sudden destruction came, that stream of water could not even shake the mans house founded on the Word... but the stream came for both..

Who was Jesus happy with?? The same with us.... there is our trial, and test of faith...

We are the body of Christ, the light of the World. It's the Lord Going with us.. confirming the Word with signs following, it's us that take a stand against the god of this world.. Satan is the one in charge, but we can occupy and not give the rat any ground...

Jesus Is Lord.

In Christ's name,

Very good post Audrey and an accurate summation too. I agree, it seems no matter what anyone posts some are simply going to continue to ignore and deny scripture and HolySpirit, especially when it comes to denying self.

It's not difficult to see that self is the center of WOF beliefs and teachings. When any of the WOF gurus are preaching about giving, they, themselves are usually the recipients of the giving. It's a carnal manipulation at the very best. If things can happen here in which God did/does not allow then God is not all powerful and sovereign. My advice is to flee from it's destructiveness.

Does God cause sickness as a test? what do you think?

As a test? No, but does God use sickness? Yes. Does God allow sickness? Yes, if the answer were no than that would mean that God can not prevent sickness.

I wonder why many often think of the things which cause the flesh discomfort as being evil?

I withdrew any answers after a couple posts for the same
reason. Please don't feel that way, many people here, including
me, think that your answers are Heaven sent and very wise.
Don't get down because of a few people. :)

In Christ's name,

what mike said I'm asking for a scripture that actyually goes with the discussion not your interpetation on the word test. those scriptures you used have nothing to do with our discussion. Christ never turned away anyone saying i want you to suffer your testing..that would not be God that is what mere man would do.

how does God use evil? ...and od you go to the doctor when your sick? this is for anyone saying God uses these things to test.

In the Old Testament Leviticus 13 anyone who had skin disease was considered ceremonially unclean and was quarantined for further observation. vs 11

What is leprosy? A skin disease.

Matthew 8 speaks of a man with leprosy who walks up to Jesus falls on his knees in worship and says "Lord, if you want to you can heal me." Jesus replies "I do, Be healed!"

I believe that is Jesus s heart when it comes to sickness and disease.

A thought for sickness is sick people can't and won't preach if they are sick.

1 Peter 2:24 says by His stripes we are healed. Is it talking about the spiritual or physical healing?

Take a look a Isaiah 53:4

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried;
it was our sorrows[a] that weighed him down.
And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God,
a punishment for his own sins!

If you take a look at John 9:2 (as well as other places) you learn sickness comes from our sin. Why is why Isaiah 53:5 says

5 But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.

You see the beating he went through was for our sins and because he took a beat for our sins he took our sickness and diseases. But how do we know that it was physical and not the spiritual?

Matthew 8:17

This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said,

“He took our sicknesses
and removed our diseases.”

At this moment he took upon his body our sickness and diseases. As well as shows that 1 Peter 2:24 speaks of his stripes because he was beaten for our healing.

Hebrews 9:28

so also Christ died once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.

He came to take away our sins and in doing this took a whip to his back (John 19:1) In doing this we were healed for good.

not that i want anyone to leave...i don't agree though that shes right. As she is only speaking of the word test not of the actual topic.

"Allow" does not necessarily mean God is desiring of it.
The knowledge of good and evil which man consumed
is the cause.
If I don't post a "no solicitors" sign near my door or a fence with a locked gate I have in a sense allowed solicitors, even though I may hate solicitors.
I think we would need more information on the nature of the God's intention concerning the two major trees in the garden.
Since God designed everything then he had the option to restrict access to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil but chose not to.
As far as I can see unless he did not have absolute control over the creation then in a sense he allowed it by design not necessarily by desire.

does God cause sickness as a test=no

Can God prevent sickenss

That's the real problem, Unwilling to look and compare scriptures that others have posted. Unable to step up and examine possible doctrine that needs changed or adjusted. Unable to give supportive Doctrine, but continues to ramble in the same direction with different scriptures and not address honest questions.

I could even make a lot better argument for God wants us sick... and give plenty of scripture that would look as if that was supported in the bible..

That is the whole point of the forums... If have a belief system, but can't support that belief system, then this is a great place that can force you to study all arguments for and against. This place can strengthen your stance on what you believe, or can get you to see things you never have in the Word....

It's for those that want to study, and compare scriptures as we know God can can not contradict himself, and everything must line up in perfect harmony. God can't want you sick and use sickness for his own good when when have scriptures to stand and believe against it.
There has to be answer's for every scripture.

It's the stubborn or ones that don't want to take the time to dust off their bibles and concordences that miss out on the great oppertunity this forum presents..

There is no perfect and right Doctrine. There is sound Doctrine, and sound does not mean there is no place to learn and grow. Sound Doctrine will keep us stable, and in the right direction.

We each have goofy things we believe, or have stretched way out of context from what God intended. Even the WOF circles have taken the Blab it and grab it out of Context where Jesus said.. "You have what you say." The prosperity Gospel has gone way over in the far extreme, leaving God out of the picture and purpose of being blessed.

Jiggyfly and I for the most part have not agreed on everything, some things we have. One thing I thank God for is Jiggyfly through the years has presented scriptures to me I never even saw or considered. Jiggyfly has caused me to question my belief system constantly with his knowledge of the Word. I am stronger today because of the many debates we have had in the past. It has cost me long hours of study and prayer. It has opened me up to receive more complete understanding about many things.

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

There is much we all need to examine..........

You need to reread my post, I can see why you struggle. Take some time here and make sure you understand what is being conveyed before you post.

you should try reading my post and quit with this struggling junk. It isn't very moderate of you to judge without knowing what Im saying. You haven't even given a real arguement. And ignored my question. I'll reask it.

Do you go to the hospital when your sick? or if you have kids do you take them?

Also I don't struggle...I am healthy, God provides...so i don't struggle thank you very much

Seems you struggle with understanding simple English.

Go back and read my post over and then tell me where I said that God uses evil.
You assume to much and seem to have an enormous nack for adding your words to another's post.

I not one time mentioned that you struggle in health or finances, but you do seem to have difficulty understanding the posts of others.

you seem to like the word struggle even though you haven o clue what i struggle in. I speak english do i not? So why are you disrespectully judging my ability?

you said he uses sickness and sickness is not of God

But I did not say evil did I? You said I said evil but you were wrong.
You assume way to much and now your getting a warning stop misquoting others and use the little quote button.

Now back to the topic. Are you suggesting that God does not use sickness?

"Rabbi," his disciples asked him, "why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents' sins?" "It was not because of his sins or his parents' sins," Jesus answered. "This happened so the power of God could be seen in him. John 9:2&3

Gonna have to disagree with you Quenton. Is this what they teach at Rhema?

Jesus Is Lord.

I'm not going to lie I don't change my beliefs to easily. Because I don't doubt what I believe so anyone saying otherwise what I believe I don't just change. Because what I believe is what I believe God has taught me and I have learned a lot of my biblical knowledge in personal one on one with God
