Allah or Jesus?

Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers who represented the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths who explained their belief systems. I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say.

The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam complete with a video. After the presentations time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn I directed my question to the Imam and asked: "Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that all of the Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, which is a command to all Muslims, they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?"

There was no disagreement with my statements and without hesitation he replied, "Non-believers!"

I responded, "So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to heaven. Is that correct?"

The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He sheepishly replied, "Yes."

I then said, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Pat Robertson or Dr. Stanley ordering Protestants to do the same in order to go to heaven."

The Imam was speechless.

I continued, "I also have problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me. Let me ask you a question . . . would you rather have your Allah who tell you to kill me in order to go to heaven or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and wants you to be with me?"

You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.

Chuck Colson once told me something that has sustained me these 20 years of prison ministry. He said to me, "Rick, remember that the truth will prevail."

And it will!

To be fair, Popes have previously commanded the deaths of Muslims and others.

Though, I agree that this idea of "death for heaven" transaction for almost every major religion is a bit odd.

Sounds like you think pope is christian leader or something. He's not. His roman catholic figure and i think most people in this site are protestant christians. So we dont have any assosiation with the pope.

Nor crusades..

Well, the Pope is the leader of a huge number of Christians so one way or another he is important.

It also deals with what "story-teller" was saying; not imaging Pope John Paul ordering death, however Popes have ordered many a death, from Constantine to the Spanish Inquisition.

I'm not trying to offend. Just trying to talk and learn

I must say that the old testament is very different form the New Testament. In the old Testament God Killed or had many people killed. In the New Testament God is a Loving God.

In the Old Testament the people said God told them to do it. Today we say the devil made us do it. Which one is right?

Do the few outweigh the needs of the many or do the many outweigh the needs of the few? I don’t know the answer but you can read it for yourself in both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Either they’re both wrong or they’re both right. I choose to believe they’re both right. One day we’ll all know the answers to those questions and many more.

Christianty is way of peace. Its the Old testament Jews and israel who were suposed to fight for the promised land. And bible also says God defeated their enemies, many times.

Not so anymore. its interesting how God does not seem to care wheather the promised land is in christian control. Its however in Israel control as was propheticed in the OT. But for us christian the kingdom where we belong is heaven.
(Joh 18:36) Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

So its the kingdom of heaven that matters today in this New coveant God made with man through Jesus, and not the earthly promised land.

You see there's two coveants one with the Jews and one with us.

And jews who do not believe in the messiah yet (Jesus) stays in the old coveant. But God only saves people to heaven when they believe in Jesus as their savior and thefore become under the New coveant.

Back in the days Inquisitions killed real christians. Even Lords could be charged of heresy and if found guilty in court they were executed.
So this Roman catholic rulership has effected even the protestant christians as well other people and not just muslims.

(heresy = believe something else than what roman catholic church teaches, even you were believer in Jesus you could have been considered as heretic and executed)

Im glad they are for peace today. Infact not all crusades were aproved by the pope but some were disaproved but they carried them out anyway.

I like what you said and the way you say it. There's still the problem that when Jesus returs All heads will bow and every knee shall bend. Then Jesus will stay on Earth for a period of time, along with the people alive, stil living and Heaven will be on Earth also. So do you see where the two testaments stat to blend?

Great post.

I find it a very weak response when someone say "Oh, but some Christians killed non Christians"

Well, here's the thing, the Bible does not condemn us to kill the infidels, when someone does it, it's because of sin in their life, on the other hand, the Koran CONDEMNS muslims to kill infidels, not because of sin in their lives, but because of their beliefs.

I find that to be a HUGE difference.

God has a reason for everything HE does. I don't claim to know what that is but I do know whatever it is everything will work for Gods' Glory..

TY! Yes good point there.
But we must not forget bible says earth will be destroyed so I am not sure how is all this God ruling earth and new jerusalem scheduled. However, ultimately our place is in heaven. And i think its the thousand year kingdom you are referring to.

Yesit is the thousand kingdom I'm speaking of. And it is said, in the Bible that once saved Earth is no longer our home.
