Well! Here's one. Probably there is a thread in here somewhere on this subject. Don't know. Anyway.....

I was listening to a clip a few minutes ago. Giant black holes..Interesting stuff.. Ok. I'm a creationist. My Big God spoke it and Bang! There is was.
But wait! What was the dynamic of 'there it was'? Could it be? Was there a big bang and the universe spread out? What do you think? Is there a scripture that might indicate?

No..Its not an important thing to fight over but hey! It is an interesting thing. I love astronomy.

Yeah Hawkins. A pitiable wretch. He's doing stuff like Charles Darwin did. Espousing a theory as fact. When a person has letters after his name though, people seem to idolize them.
Professing themselves to be wise they became fools. I'm saying the man may be a genius but he's still a fool because he blows God off.

That depends entirely on how you interpret scripture.

I sincerely wish you were kidding. Hawkings succesfully married the theory of relativity with quantum physics. He hypothesised that something must be able to escape a black hole, and that too was just a theory, until we actually saw a black hole and realised that minute particles are capable of escaping them in the form of radiation.

Never the less, even should Hawkins' theories be proved correct, from what I understand of them they aren't enough to disprove God. The Big Bang theory was of course a Christian theory that when it first came onto the scene, was rejected by atheism as too theist an explanation of the universe. It is endlessly amusing that now Christianity and atheists have switch sides. Simply saying that because with physics we know how the universe "banged" isn't enough. Much like how evolution, presuming it is a fact, isn't enough to disprove God.

Hawkins stipulation is that super compressed matter like that found in black holes, is re-injected into the universe when the black hole dies. Hawkins theory of creation is that on a massive scale. Which doesn't explain 1. how the matter became super compressed 2. why gravity changed at the point of the big bang changed physically. The latter being a question of physics, the former something else.

Why does knowing physics make peoples lives better?
Ummm...unless your a physicist...it probably doesn't...
However I find the universe to be far more interesting to explore than which celebrity is adopting what ethnicity baby.

Well I'm asking. People gush over men of science and what they come to learn as if their accomplishments should have people genuflecting. Who are these people who don't acknowledge God and that even mock him, that people should be holding them in such high regard? I know many people certainly don't. I don't care how many degrees someone has or how highly the world esteems them. If they mock the Lord and claim He doesn't exist, then they are no one in my book. And that sums up Hawkings. I can sleep better tonight knowing that people know what a black hole is.

you missed the point. I was expressing how Hawkins work isn't merely theoretical and thus ignorable.
And I have far more respect for intellectual achievements in any field over what most people idolise. Athletes, musicians, celebreties ect.

I also pointed out where I thought Hawkins was wrong. But like so many, you prefer not to engage with the world around you.

A scientist who is speaking carefully will not talk much about true and false. Scientists look for consistency, argue over and adopt the theories that are most consistent with their observations.

So most scientists will say that the Big Bang and expansion of the universe are the explanations that are most consistent with the evidence.

God has made us to be creative inquiring, seeking creatures. I imagine that is part of being made in his image. So asking questions about the beginning of the world is natural.

And lastly, from what I know of Stephen Hawking, mocking God is not part of his work at all. His recent statement was that he no longer believed God is not necessary to explain the beginning of the universe. That is not the same thing as saying God does not exist.

Having said all that, I am not intellectually capable enough to understand Hawking's work (few of us are). But I do know that our faith need not depend on diminishing scientific achievements. No doubt, someone will come along to challenge, build upon, and refine Hawking's theories. No Christian ought to feel threatened in their beliefs by the work of a good scientist.

I don't think the Big Bang theory claims to have the answer to that question, because it is not a question that needs answering. As far as I understand physics, matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed. So it is safe to assume that matter and energy didn't need to "come from" anywhere. They most likely just...always were.
