What’s Wrong with Halloween?

I think it's pretty harmless. Things change over time, its human progress, and there isn't anything necessarily good or bad about it. It just IS.

As Christians, I don't think our job is to shield kids from society. We need to allow them to partake in what they wish to partake in, and explain our beliefs and why we choose to follow them.

Would you be against celebrating Valentine's Day? It was, technically, a Roman holiday that worshiped the goddess of fertility.

Dear heart If you think its harmless..... Things change over time but just as God is the same yesterday today and forever, so is Satan the same yesterday today and forever. He's a legalistic Jerk! Anything you say or do that he can use against you he will.

I don't think we should necessarily fear Satan, either. We need to know him and be aware of him, but why would we have fear of him? Allowing Satan to cause fear in us is just giving him power.

Also, I've noticed that when you try to shield kids, they close their hearts to god. I was lucky to be raised in a very open household, where I was allowed to read what I wanted and to explore God as I wished. And I'm a Christian, so SOMETHING had to have worked.

Well Beatriz I think you should so what you think is best for you. But remember...you were warned.

I think as Christians we need to remember who our Master is and what He promotes. We need to be careful embracing the things of this world that are sponsored by the "god of this world." Why would Christians want to celebrate a day of evil like Halloween just because everyone else is doing it and rationalizing away that there is no harm to do that? We're supposed to be different from the world and not conform to its ways just because everyone else is doing it. I won't celebrate evil or Halloween. Its not godly to celebrate evil. We need to celebrate what is good and what brings life. Same thing with holidays like valentine's Day. I mean its a real dumb holiday. I bet millions of Christians wait until Valentines's day to give their wives or girlfriends flowers when they should be doing that many times every year. I mean seriously you need a Holiday to be recognized in order for you to be loving and show that love? As Christians, we should be loving 365 days a year. We need to be careful with embracing the things of the world. Does celebrating these holidays change your standiong in Christ? Of course not. But we as Christians need to have a little more sense about us and ask whether celebrating some of these holidays honors God or if they honor the enemy and the world system he created. We may be living in the world but we don't need to act and do and be like the people in unbelief.

The month of February is of prime importance in the occult, and it is a time of increased spell-casting, as February 2nd is one of the eight sabats on the witchcraft calendar. It is the high cross-quarter sabat called “Imbolc”, pronounced “im-mol-g”, and it is a Scotch-Gaelic word, which means “in the belly.” The witches believe that on that day, February 2nd, are the first stirrings of the new spring in the womb of “Mother Earth.” The Roman Catholic Church stole it from the witches and call it Candlemass. Others call it Groundhog Day, the day when the little animal stirs in the earth and comes out to play with light and shadows and tell us when the new spring will be born. It is all a form of witchcraft after the old Wiccan tradition. Witches always celebrate their sabats on the evening before the day, and in the case of Imbolc, that would be February 1st. Thirteen days later is a witches’ holiday called Lupercalia or “day of the wolf.” The Roman Catholics also stole that day from the pagans and renamed it St. Valentine’s Day. The witches and their followers who lived during the time of the old Roman Empire would celebrate Lupercalia on February 14th, on a day of accepted free sex. Young men would take thongs of sheep skin, called “februa”, and dip them in sheep blood. They would chase the young women through the fields trying to strike them with the bloody februa. If they were able to mark them with the blood, the young women had to surrender to the desires of the young men. That is the true origin of Valentine’s Day.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It’s not about “shielding.”

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
