Please pray for me, I have a hard time controlling my sexual temptations, when I become aroused it is really hard for me to not masturbate, I look at porn too, I want to be free from this sin.

I was sexually and physically abused very badly in my life growing up, and I think I run to these sins to "escape"

I feel trapped, I cant seem to break free of this.

I was scared to post this but my heart tells me I need to just tell out in the open, hiding it isnt helping.

Please pray for me.

Well I guess no one has this problem on this entire board except for me, looks like im pretty screwed up.....

You have said many things right in this post! Thank you for posting it. First of all, you have said, "Please pray for me." You were honest and forthright about the problem. AND you said, "I want to be free from this sin."

You are probably right, "Hiding isn't helping". Some good friendships and maybe a mentor are some good things that could be "on the way" into your life. I pray that this is so!

James 5:16 "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." KJV

Welcome, Kid. I used to have a problem with that. But, since I have stayed in the Word so much, it seems to have all but disappeared. But, for us, it is something that is absolutely necessary to do . . . stay in contact with Heavenly Father and that will become your desire instead.

With us, it is a battle because it is what we know, what we have gone through. So, we have to replace it with something else for it to grow dim in our minds. I also play a lot of good christian music so it surrounds me all day. I will pray that your desires will be placed in your Father's arms as you take on your new life in Him.

Dear sister,

No matter how bad your condition seems to be, we have a God who is capable of doing exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ever ask or think.

We all have our own weaknesses and in God's eyes we're all on the same boat ( We're all sinners ) and that is why "He came to set the captives free.".

You wish to be free, yes He will set you free for sure. Just surrender all your temptations to Him, "Just say Jesus, I'm too weak, I don't have the strength to control my temptation. Set me free Lord and I will be free.".

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Nothing is stronger than the blood of Jesus which cleanses us from all sin.

Praying for you sister. The great man Paul said "Flee youthful lust's" In other words he was recognising the power of such temptation, and suggesting that when it comes along....Get running. It is such a powerful force it is necessary to get it out of the way, or get away from it as quickly as possible.

No matter what you turn your hand to........get away, get away from it, turn your mind from it.

You mention a past association having an effect and not helping. I would prayerfully suggest a change of company, friends, routine etc. would surely be of help.

God Bless you

Your not screwed up, your human!
Perfection is hard, in fact, for us it is down right impossible. That is why Jesus died for us, to forgive us of our imperfections and provide us salvation.
Have you asked Jesus Christ to come into your life and provide you this salvation through your Spiritual Birth? If you haven't or are not sure, well then: "do it again for the first time". If you have, understand this, God says that, as a Christian, you have had two births: one from the womb and one of the Spirit. And here is one of the most magnificent things in the Bible: God says that you can not be unborn from either one!

So what does this say about your Pornography and Masturbation problem? Three things:

1. Thank God you are being convicted of it and are not in denial. Believe me there are a lot of closet pornographers and masturbators out there!
2. As a Christian, Jesus died for this sin of yours also, He died for all sins, forever.
3. Being born of the Spirit doesn't mean that you automatically stop sinning and, it certainly means that you are still saved.

There are so many sins that we humans commit and to God sin is sin, none really worse than the other in His eyes, they all separate us from him. God is absolute perfection, there is no sin in him and no sin can coexist in his presence. Thanks be to God for His saving grace in his son Jesus Christ.

St. Paul talks about his sin in Romans 7, as he says: " I do what I don't want to do and, I do not do what I want to". He also says, that all things are permissible but not everything is profitable. We have laws, if you break one, you eventually pay the price.

The Devil uses Pornography and Masturbation as one of his greatest tools. It definitely is not profitable because it can lead to many other problems, not to mention that Satin uses it to control your self-esteem and net worth. So, you can start by telling him to take a hike and that your current problem has no effect on your salvation. That you remain saved and he never will be and he might as well move on somewhere else! Thanks be to God for Jesus Christ!!! Hallelujah!!

So, your are right in bringing it up here and asking for help, that's one of the best attributes of TJ, it's a place to seek help and it shows a lot of courage on your part.

Continue to pray for God's help as well as I will for you as others are doing already on TJ. Also, you could seek a doctor's help. Gather up your courage, look him ( or her) in the face and tell them your problem. You will feel better, it will reinforce your actions to quit and they can help medically, because your not alone, this is a major problem in our society, it can be addictive and there are medications that can help you with this until you get control. Never discount how God may work in your life to help you solve this problem!
God Bless!

You came to TJ and opened up your heart and soul. Don't be ashamed it was actually a blessing.

You may have opened up in what you think was a moment of weakness but, remember this: God says that , in our weakness, we find our strength, which is in him.

Your are here at TJ's for a reason, this is not a mistake. You don't have to discuss your issues anymore, so just move on from here and what you posted will soon be forgotten. Anyone who thinks any less of you because of what you said, is no friend.:wink:

Proverbs 3:5,6
1 Peter 5:7,
"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."

Our Only Hope, in all things, as well as, for all spiritual emergencies,
and for all of our sins, sin, bad habits, evil self-love
is to simply and WHOLEHEARTEDLY and forevermore,
cast all of our evil selves and every thing that concerns us
into the Truly Merciful Arms of God and Our Lord and Savior
Jesus alone forevermore,

and then let Jesus save us and free us little by little, from all things, gradually, His truly Good Time, and in His Truly Good Way,

so that we can learn God's Secret of God causing us to little by little, DEPEND WHOLEHEARTEDLY ON GOD AND OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST ALONE FOREVER, EVERY MOMENT FOR ALL THINGS THAT WORRY US.

But unless we simply trust and seek and love Jesus alone WITHIN WITHIN WITHIN the center of our human spirits, The Only Place that God and Jesus truly dwell, we will never share His Victory over sin,
by learning to WHOLEHEARTEDLY ABIDE WITH JESUS WITHIN ALONE FOREVER. (JOHN15)

God truly promises all, you will seek Me and find Me, WHEN...
you shall seek for Me, with all your heart."

God truly promises all, in Jeremiah 29:13,
"And ye shall seek me, and find Me,
when ye shall search for Me with all your heart."

But you must know WHERE OR THE PLACE OF YOUR JESUS.
JESUS IS WITHIN WITHIN WITHIN our human spirits

God promises all, in Zephaniah 3:17,
"The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty;
He (Jesus) will save,
He will rejoice over thee with joy;
He will rest in His Love,
He will joy over thee with singing."

The Entire Surrender - God Inspired Poem by Jeanne Guyon

Peace has unveiled her smiling face,

And wooes thy soul to her embrace,

Enjoyed with ease, if thou refrain

From earthly love, else sought in vain;

She dwells with all who truth prefer,

But seeks not them who seek not her.

Yield to the Lord, with simple heart,

All that thou hast, and all thou art;

Renounce all strength but strength divine;

And peace shall be for ever thine:

Behold the path which I have trod,

My path, till I go home to God.

I also struggle with Masturbation. But that is not what I want to talk about. I wish to talk about His_Kid's post which set off alarms in my head and also about my wife.

My wife was sexually abused at a early age. She has been hiding it her whole life and just recently she decided it was time to tell someone other than me about it (she told me about it many years ago). She told a very nice lady at our church who is also my wifes therapist. My wife has alot of trust issues. She knew the sister before deciding on seeking help from her. In my journey these past 18 years to help her I have had more than one time done it completly totally royally wrong.

After looking at His_Kid's profile messages I am alarmed and worried and I'll be praying for her.

Recently I found an article that helped me to help my wife more. It comes from the Church of God Carmichael's website.

"Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits." Romans 12:15-16

Being of the same mind takes some real digging and effort. It does not come to us naturally, yet it is so needful if we are to be effective in winning souls for the Kingdom of God. We must not be not wise in our own understanding; and we must diligently seek the mind and leading of God's Holy Spirit.

Every soul is so unique in its make up. The gospel will encompass every need. Yet, consider the training the apostles were given by being with the LORD Jesus Christ. As you study the first four gospels of the life of Christ, think about how varied his responses were to each situation and how much love and compassion he demonstrated for souls.

People who have suffered severe abuse at the hands of ones that were supposed to love and nurture them are often weeping inside and you don’t see it. They have broken hearts. Predominantly these ones were not allowed to express their feelings without exposing themselves to further abuse. Consequently, they hide what is really going on inside of them, sometimes even from themselves. We want to help them, but without becoming therapists. How can we recognize when we need to take extra consideration and comfort them?
There are patterns of behavior in ones that have come from abusive backgrounds. It is good to be aware of them, otherwise, we might misjudge them not knowing the things they have been through. Let us consider some of the things that individuals who have been abused as children may now be struggling with as adults:

•They may have trouble being in touch with their own feelings even to such a degree that they may not even realize when they are hungry or tired.
•They may have a hate for their own body, and may not take good care of their health.
•They may use alcohol, drugs, food or cigarettes to numb their emotional pain.
•They may have trouble forming relationships with others. Because they had no one to bring their problems to as a child, they are now trying to figure it out as an adult. They may be afraid of people, mistrust authority figures, and have deep seeded fears that they are being used or will be abandoned.
•They may have trouble saying no to sexual advances or knowing how boundaries work.
•They may be suffering from depression, anxiety and other mood disorders.

Think about how it is hard to overcome these issues. Think about how many foundational principles were not there when they grew up. What would that mean for those who come to church in survival mode? When they were little, they learned a type of street smart. It became so ingrained in them that it has been pulled over into their adulthood. They may come in to one of our Church services and scan the audience to see if they are safe. They are not likely to move up in the building and sit closer to the front. They might be leery about being close to anyone. Often a friendly greeting can be misinterpreted. They have senses that are sharper than the average person. They pick up on insincerity and manipulation before it ever has a chance to work. This is their life: survival.

Child abuse is often brought with overtones of religious bondage to keep a child in fear. They may be told that this happened to them because they are evil or that God is angry with them. It gives them an impression of themselves as evil or of God as harsh. It is hard for us to imagine what that is like. A child raised like that internalizes that. It is who they become. It is who God becomes. When they hear a message in a church service, they are hearing the strength of God’s judgment. When they walk out of the service, we believe it is because they can not take the strength of the truth, when what may be happening in their mind is a retraumatization of past abuse. Consequently we cannot assume why people leave. We need God's help to find out why.

For the average person who was brought up in a somewhat stable environment, life was about choices and having fun being a child. As we grew up, it was about looking forward to the future; We were thinking about a career or what we want to do with our lives. These thoughts are almost virtually absent from these ones as children. Their whole upbringing is about survival and how to avoid pain. It is about seeking for the love and attention that is so necessary for survival. Their whole mindset is different than ours, and people tend to shy away from what they don't understand or cannot relate to. But it must not be so in the Church of God. We must labor to bridge the gap if we are going to reach souls that are in the depths of sin and despair. We are going to need to open up and become uncomfortable and vulnerable ourselves in order to be able to help them.

In order to help people, it will take an effort from everyone in the congregation. We must make them feel welcome. Someone has to break the ice and become friends with them. The leaders may not always be the ones to do that. They may be looked upon in too much of a position of authority for trust to be established right away. This is especially a time when the members of the body of Christ become so vitally important. Sisters, if it is a female that has a need that way, it is hard for a brother in the congregation to help with that need. When a lady gets saved, it often takes a sister to become friends with them. It would really make a difference. Many times people think that it is the pastors or leaders place to help. God can use people in a lot of ways without them being in some named title. If you pray and busy yourself about these things, you will find doors opening. God can open up a door and you may be surprised what God will open up next.

WOW!! Do I dare touch on this subject??? After much thought,and prayer I will. All of us have done this at one point of our life, or another!All of you have given many good points and answers as well!! What all of us want more then anything in the World,is not only to be loved,but feel loved. We all know that doing this,does not help,but in our minds,the time we take, and the result to our flesh, is not furstration!! But rather relief! For those moments we take,we feel in our mind,it is worth it. That is the deception! Because tomorrow comes,we still feel like we did yesterday,and so,we begin to depend on getting our relief,no matter how wrong it is.It is wrong,because it concerns our Flesh,and we all know that our flesh wars againist us getting close to the Lord daily!! ( gal 5:17) Many may disagree to what I am about to say,there is no proff one way or another,but because, all men and women,are indeed the way we are,I purpose this to think about. 2 Cor 12:7-10 I believe, as Paul was a single man of God,that the messenger of satan to torment him, was NOT sickness!! 1 Peter 2:24 is why,so then dear Lord what could it have been? I believe it was Masterbation,does this not torment us? Do we not feel bad after the fact? NOW! We can use this torment to our advantage,we can choose to give up and get out of the race,OR!! What I have done,FIGHT! Knowing how much I need Jesus so much,to repent does mean to turn away! We all know this! I think most of us have prayed a lot on this,yet,still, we find ourselves needing our bodies to be relieved of the tension of our everyday life.So now we have to ask ourselves? can this ever be defeated? NEVER!! BY US ALONE! Still at 56 I battle this! Through our precious Jesus,I am winning now, more often then losing,but still daily,I hear lies like,hey if you don't use it,you will lose it,it has been several days,you need to make sure you are ok,don't you? or this dandy lie! Hey think of good you will feel afterwards! This one is painful to me,because for a few moments I sure do feel better.Here is helpful ideas. When the thought arrives,we choose between two things,giving in,or fighting,we fight because we know after a few moments how bad we feel,lieing to ourselves yet again! We pray,we repent, sometimes we make ourselves feel so bad for most of the day,or night afterwards,we lose time with our Jesus because of our own guilt! THIS!!! is how we block!! Not thinking of how good we will feel, but rather how bad we will feel afterwards,but now something MUST take its place! Something so Powerful, we can fight! Enter one word,just one Word,JESUS, JESUS, JESUS!! calling upon his name the whole time we are under attack,in your mind picture yourself running, yes running towards him,fallin down before him, and calling upon his WONDERFUL NAME! Keep calling his name out loud until, the grip is released upon you. It will be released!!! Now of couse get the porn out of your computer,eyes are used,then the mind entertains thoughts,if we entertain the thought OH OH!! Dear Lord!! do not tempt yourself either! As many have said here,many have been used terrible by others,but remember this to!! 2 Cor 5:17 You are not your old self anymore,but if we do not act new,how then can we become new? The same action was needed by us for salvation!! We had to do something didn't we? So we have to do something in this case as well! Speak the Word!! JESUS! FOCUS on JESUS!! Only Jesus can defeat this enemy to our flesh,and faith! I hope this helps you,at least, it will give you something to have purpose on!! JESUS! So many have brought this up over the past few months,I just had to finally comment on this,our most painful subject! May JESUS!!! always be our relief,he is mine now!! Let JESUS!! free you today!! Love in Christ to you all!!

wanted to add this,as to why Jesus!! The name has ALL POWER!! everything, and everyone bows to his WONDERFUL!! NAME!!! Philippians 2:10-11!! That is why Jesus is so POWERFUL!!
